Look like it's definetely worth the upgrade for the aesthetic alone-- if you ever crave woodgrain again just grab an Atari 2600 :) This looks way better! Kinda lazy how they chose not to update previous models regarding pixel smoothing :/
Another fantastic review, buddy! I was cracking up when you're intro "I wasn't planning on getting this. But my FOMO kicked in and here we are." LMFAO famous last words.
Yeah, sold my 40th anniversary version to get this cab. The ability to sharpen up the games alone makes it worth it. Love the fact that they put DIG DUG, MAPPY, & GALAXIAN on the cab. I could have used a few less PAC-MAN games (and/or one more - MS PAC-MAN), but for me this is the best bang for buck of the 4 legacy cabs. Great job as usual Michael.
I would have preferred that instead of PAC-LAND it would have Jr. PAC-MAN instead. I haven't played that game in 25 years and it would be great if Arcade 1Up had that instead.
Joe, unless I'm wrong, A1up has never had JR PAC-MAN on a cab of any style. They may not own the rights to it - a shame really as in many ways it's the ultimate Pac-man style game.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty sure that A1up has never released JR PAC-MAN on any cab. They might not own the rights - shame as it's arguably one of the best versions of the game.
This video made me smile a lot. I wasn’t alive in the 80’s, or whenever these games came out, but I’m saving up money to buy this. First arcade machine!
Great review! I upgraded my gen 1 PAC-Man to this legacy cab, and couldn’t be happier. I love it, it plays great and the game selection is good. While I wish it had rally-x, I was pleasantly surprised by how fun Rompers is to play.
Just ordered this, since I'm waiting on my iiRcade and Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro and have a case of late comer FOMO. It's due to your awesome videos for the iiRcade and this Pacman vidga, as well as THE ZOHARS love for Pacman, that have greatly influenced my purchases.
Glad you were able to pick this cabinet up! I'm with you, on that riser. Should've carried the main body's colours all the way down. Thanks for the video.
Just ordered one here in Germany. Costs so much more in Europe, but Pac-Man is the first ever arcade machine I saw as a child and has a very powerful spell over me. Pure magic and can’t wait to have this in my studio...
Fantastic video - awesome arcade. So I am new and starting out collecting these arcades. I have the Ms. Pacman and the 40th Anniversary Pacman...with the stool - riser, chair and light up marque. I think both cabinets are gorgeous. I do like the yellow cabinet and I find myself drawn to the “wood” cabinet more and the Ms. Pacman color scheme really pops...both cabinets play off of one another. Thank you for posting these awesome videos. Is it bad to be 45 and playing countless hours trying to beat my girlfriends “High score”?????? I hope you and your family are safe and well.
Just saw video in the store. Buying one right now. Was going to buy the Ms. Pac-Man. But it didnt have Dig Dug. This Legacy Edition is a No Brainer! Thank you sir for this fine review!
Wow man...this upload made Pac-Man very exciting to have! I have the smaller units and looking to get the smaller Ms.Pacman version from Arcade1up! My so called toy room is filled with figures and wish i had space for a gameroom!
I have considered the Namco Legacy Cab but i already have the Ms. Pacman (with Dig Dug) and 40th Anniversary Pacman cabs and just dun think it merits the upgrade. The Pixel smoothing is the only option that would make me consider it.
Great review as always Michael. Another fun addition to the arcade. It's always hard to tell in video but that marquee looks very nice through this video.
I picked this up at Walmart for 315.00 and glad I picked up the optional riser for 44.96. I had Pac land for Turbo GrafX16 back in 1991 and it was a very good port at the time. I also had managed to pick up all 5 Playstation games of NAMCO Museum back in 1996-1997. the Playstation and PS2 collections were excellent! Other ones included TAITO, Midway, Capcom, Williams, Konami.
Just picked this up. When I put the riser on, I found the screws were too short. I got one side in fine, but the other side doesn’t grip the board. It touches it, but enough to go in tight. And wow does the difficulty increase right away on the second level of Pac-Man. The speed goes up very fast 😄
I was so glad to get the Pac-Man Legacy Edition and I lucked out because I bought this at QVC for 33 percent off and I wanted the authentic look of this classic. The gameplay is great and I am looking forward to getting the Ms. Pac-Man Legacy Edition as well. I think that the black and hot pink colorplay would give that a 21st Century look as well.
Ms Pac Man is the game I really want so bad. That’s my favorite game of all time. Pretty bummed out this one doesn’t have it but I might just get it since it has dig dug
Great review mate! I’m new to these arcade 1 ups. Just bought my very first one. Midway legacy edition. MK 2 was MY game growing up! Now to have it in the comfort of my own home is a dream! Now I’m wanting to get another, as I’m limited on space I can only get one more :( I’m torn between the capcom legacy street fighter and the Bandai namco legacy pac man (which of course you’ve reviewed in this video) Can anyone give me any ideas on which one to go for. They both have great games, but I just can’t decide.
How many times can they re-release the same Pac cabinet? The cabinet is shaking when you play it. These are meant to be played on a 19” CRT with no lag.
hey there michael i got this machine but i could not get rid of my 40th edition for 2 reasons mine is the special edition lit up deck protector also it came with the 40th edition stool oh well i am not pressed for room yet worry about that when time comes lol !! i like your nice informatiue reuiews hope your weekend is a good one michael !!
What are the main differences between the Ms. Pacman and Pacman Legacy editions? Thanks! I did see there are 2 extra games in Ms. Pacman...Anything else?
new subscriber. great video. u might hav sold me lol im one of those ppl that generally tends to prefer pixel smoothing but i 100% agree that it should b an option.
Controls aren't anywhere as good as real arcade controls. They use Sanwa clones and low level ones but it's super playable. A lot of people swap out the springs on the joysticks which is a pretty simple mod but i wish they came with better controls so it wasn't necessary
Nice looking cabs, love Dig Dug and Glaxian and seeing it plays well makes me want this one but it ain't available in Australia. Fingers crossed that it wil be available here.
I've had the Pac-Man black series cocktail cabinet for some time, actually thinking of swapping that out for this. Cocktail was a cool idea at first, very iconic for me and how I played Pac-Man, but now it's just a matter of space. Upright would actually be better, wondering if there's improvements from that model to the legacy version.
Dig Dug 2...was released with an 8-way Joystick. It should not have been placed on a Cabinet with a 4-way Joystick...as the game play is limited. In your sample video, there were many "shots" that could have been taken on the ANGLE instead of manipulating the character to have a shot on the East/West or North/South vectors.
Pixel smoothing is the worst! I only have 3 cabs but, this one is the most popular by far. Does the Frogger cabinet have pixel smoothing? If so, can you turn it off?
I still don't have a pacman and this one might be the one I get. I just hate the riser. Enough to consider buying some plain yellow vinyl to wrap it if I did end up buying it
You must be much taller than I am as you're like a head taller than the machine. I am barely taller than the Arcade 1up, so my viewing angle is optimal when I stand at one. Also nice intro music using a remix of Journey to Silius.
Honestly does side art even matter anymore when cabs are placed closely side by side? I mean you won't even see it. I think they need to focus more on the art on the front of the cab instead since that will be seen the most.
I still like the wood grain on the 40th more...to me it looks like a cabaret style that closely matches the arcade 1up size. Other than that this games list and options to turn smoothing off are awesome. I think you should really think about upgrading the jostick. Happ makes one that is official for pacman and it is supposed to make turning corners much more accurate.
Michael you forgot one thing I just sold a original of this and if you do some research the original cabinet had blue specs all over the yellow it was a watermark they used back in the day to stop copycats
Hey man, I see you have many arcade1up machines. I am looking to get some skin in the game and am seeking an adults opinion. I am 6ft2in ... are these things good enough for us adults or primarily for kids given their size, etc.? They look so cool once you get about 5 in a room!
I love the cabinet art and game lineup, but hate how it doesn't look as authentic as the first Gen cabinet, even with the faux coin slots. What Pacman cabinet has a fire button outside of the Class of 1981 cabinet?
Go compare the first Pac-Man arcade 1 up to this one I like the one that was bought from Walmart it was in HD screen when you play Pac-Man plus it has the pac name on the red can as it does from the arcade so why did arcade 1 up remove that not let the games stay in HD its great we get 10 more more games
I like my Pac Man legacy cab except the joystick is absolutely horrid. There are dead spots in between the up, down, left and right. Needs a Sanwa 4 way or a gate restrictor.
Where are the Bandai games? I know that the two companies merged but it really is just a Namco Legacy cab with no Bandai games which is a shame because Bandai has some excellent arcade games!
I already have most of these on my Ms PACMAN Partycade. The only space I have for one of these "Legacy Editions" is for my Atari which should be here in a couple of days, so I will not be buying one.
It’s not a Bandai namco it’s just namco for Pac-Man before it was Midway MFG Bally in 1980 who was the original for Pac-Man Namco didn’t make dig dug either it was made by Atari if you go to an arcade or own the original arcade or play on mame 32 you’ll see who made these games first
@@renefigueroa6309 sorry but namco made Puck Man in Japan 🇯🇵 just like they made dragon quest in Japan and the United States made dragon warrior and Midway made Pac-Man in the United States go download mame 32 i own the arcade machines your going by consoles the arcade machines were made before the consoles cane out the teenage mutant ninja turtles was made by Konomi not Nickelodeon Midway made mortal kombat not WB you have a lot to learn
I have the Pac-Man 40th and Ms Pac-Man countercades. Couldn't find Ms Pac-Man in 3/4 that had the games I wanted. Only found the Wal-Mart version and I really didn't like any of the included games.
This is all your fault game genie….. Saw this review and went on a quest to find this cab. Smh. My local Walmart had one left and I picked it up a few hours ago. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pac n Pal has some of the worst music ever. Might be the main reason I just have no desire to play it. But I love my Legacy cab. It was my first so it may have given me a better opinion of Arcade1up then I should have. Haha
