I JUST received my Arcade1Up Star Wars Pinball table and the first thing I did was try to mod it before I've even turned it on yet! Join me as I turn on my pinball table for the very first time to get my First Thoughts and impressions on the cab.
Then we'll dive into the Kongs-R-Us Lab and see what other mods we can do, like converting the 24" play field to an HDMI input, using the GEEKWORM adapter to work with the stock PCB, and adding a PC to play some Star Wars Trilogy and other games on the 22" monitor I installed into the backglass.

Man!! I just heard what you said about light gun games!! It would be really fun to mount a couple of Sinden light guns to the side and play Light gun games on the back and pinball on the main table!!

Thanks for the honest assessment. I'm wrestling with this vs the Gameroomsolutions kit. This is a really compelling price point, frankly cheaper than getting a comparable setup from the kits, and I both would want the Star Wars art, and need the size vs a full size cabinet (hence, no AT Games for me). I'm really intrigued to see what upgrades can be done, because I think I eventually would want to have the 3 monitors (perhaps upgrading the 24 to a 27) and run something like Pinball Emporium from a PC, so FX3 along with VP and FP. I'm trying to get a sense for now of how much I would enjoy it as is, then how possible it is to upgrade it. Thanks for the exploration!

yes, I'm all up for exploration! the size, build quality, and graphics are top notch so I agree you could probably get away doing it a little cheaper on your own, but this is a nice almost starter package for diving into the world of Vpin. I definitely plan to explore some more!

Missed your stream but caught the video afterwards! Thanks for sharing this! Cool! You have guts modifying this brand new machine. 😁 I'm glad that you know what you're doing. Do you see Arcade1up doing a Universal Studios Back to The Future pinball? We saw so called leaked images, but that's what I'd be looking to purchase. Good work! 😎👍

thanks DVH! it was gutsy, and almost ruined my machine, but we made it out alive!!! not sure if A1up will get the universal licenses to do it, but a BTTF themed universal cab would look awesome. just wish the game quality was better

the stock A1up star wars has 4 solenoids built it which feel great. You could add additional speakers for surround sound feedback.

i cant tell, but it looks like you could unplug the lvs cord without having to take all that apart. am i correct, or would it be near impossible to plug the lvs cord back in properly? im still thinking about trying to be able to turn mine when i get it, into something where simply by switching the monitor cords i can go from stock marvel to the nintendo switch.

after watching more it looks like unlike the arcade cabinets, i can get straight at that lcd cord going directly into the monitor? that would be perfect. id still have to open up the cabinet every time i wanted to switch, but once i set up the other board i can just switch the cords going to the monitor each time.

yea, getting the stock PCB to be swappable with the main screen will be difficult. I originally wanted to do geek worm encoder to make the PCB output to HDMI. then use a an HDMI splitter on the main screen using an LVDS to HDMI Adapter too. I failed at it all and ended up just making it a dedicated PC build for my FX3 tables only.

See this is my dilemma. I literally only just started playing these games on my 5x2 cell and the graphics look fantastic. Think that was a bad decision Haha. Like you whenever i receive my AFM pinball the graphics aren't going to look the best. However if there isva potential mod in the future where you run these games in PC that woukd be cool to do. Just sucks we jave to put more money into a machine that already cost alot and it should have had at least the high quality graphics. Oh well. Gotta decide if i want to keep my preoder or wait until the 2nd gen pinball machines.

yes, there's so many ways to play these Zen games so depending on your previous experience, this could be a big upgrade (from playing on your phone) or a downgrade (from playing on your PC). it's still a great price point for the package, but you just have to keep in mind the graphic concessions.

I heard John D say it was a 1080 HD monitor but the PCB was outputting to 720 so it can run at 60 fps. Your own setup should be sharper and not show the jagged lines.

the quality of the 24" LCD monitor isn't great tho. image looks washed out compared to the PC monitor :(

I'm not sure. I think it's a combination of the cheaper monitor, plus the PCB running a low powered Android version.

Right from the get go I was concerned about the jagged edges, I bought a TMNT arcade unseen and the next day I saw an open one at Walmart and the jagged edges were a deal breaker so since I hadn't opened it I returned it and ended up buying a real TMNT arcade so after all the delays and BS from arcade 1up and this week's delay email I cancelled my pre order and seeing your honest review about the jagged edges I'm glad I cancelled and instead again I'm just going to get a real virtual pinball table not to mention all the delays and excuses from arcade1up I won't give them my money ever so #screwarcade1up

those classic arcades were designed to run on a CRT with scan lines so they look bad on a regular monitor. the A1up pinball is suffering from a different issue as Zen has many platforms that run their tables. The graphic quality on this machine pales to the other versions I've played of the same games unfortunately

yes, the jagged pixelated was really bad compared to playing FX3 on a PC. I couldn't unsee it

So it's a downgrade for anyone played 1080p FX3 before. I'm so glad I did not get this and any A1UP crap.

it's a downgrade visually for sure, but I wouldn't call A1Up crap. it's market is very clear for those wanting 3/4 size arcades at an affordable price point. the build quality is solid compared to a premium A1up cab.
