The decisions would already have been made on product line ups for retail. 4th quarter plans are made in Q1 typically. It's the direct to consumer channel they can wait until late summer to announce a new cab.
I'm starting to think A1up won't be capable of issuing a new Ms Pac-Man XL much less an actual new title. I mean, if they can't get box stores to take AvP or X-men, they sure as heck don't want Track & Field.
John D was able to secure a license for Q-Bert before he left the company, they can make one if they want to. It's the risk vs reward that's holding it up. I like your Track & Field speculation, releasing it before or during the Olympics this summer would make sense!
Pretty sure all those IP licenses have drop dates (ie - A1up must actually move forward in X amount of time or the right revert back to the licensor). BUT that would be big news if true. I think Q*BERT could be a pretty big cab for A1up; surprised they haven't released it yet.

While that would slick as heck, I think the chances are remote - right now A1up seems to be having a hard time putting out PAC-MAN XL cabs much less a niche title like GORF.
Me too... but I do think it's important to remember just how many new machines they made last year. While it's true only 3 of 'em featured new titles, A1up still had to completely re-design their whole lineup. So it's not a big surprise it's been a while since announcements... but at this point, sooner the better.

Yeah, T&F is the one game you just absolutely must have good buttons on, because you will be smashing the heck out of them! Still, better buttons is a super easy (and relatively cheap) upgrade, so it's not impossible.
I’ve been hoping for TNF since I got into this hobby a year and a half ago. I’m keeping a spot reserved for that one. A lot of nostalgia for me playing it with my buddies at the arcade.
Yeah, me too. But I don't necessary need a dedicated cab for it (plays very nicely on the ALU). But it is a fun game - dare I say a party game. It's be interesting to see what other games they'd put on it.
Your thoughts Makes good sense , except I don’t think it will be Track and Field . I don’t think casuals know or want that title. I’m hoping for Q*Bert but know it is very very unlikely. Maybe new wave toys will make a 3/4 Q*Bert ?
See, I kinda think Q-Bert's the most likely candidate, at least in terms of sheer public awareness; maybe even bigger then AvP. So if Walmart's ultimately the one with final say (and if A1up has the rights), you'd think Q*ert would be perfect. It'll play just fine on a 17" screen, a unique (for A1up) control set, and the hardware can easily emulate it.
@@evilgeniusentertainment agree and a day 1 purchase if it ever comes out . I would have thought they would have done it but know if they were going too but fingers crossed 🤞 it’s the unique controls that make me want it so badly . Like Tron , it can not be played anywhere else properly.
I prefer TNF to come with the Roller Ball instead and also have them add Blades of Steel as a result. So those 2 plus Hyper Sports and 88 Games and you got yourself a deal. Still think Smash Tv/Robtron is coming this year cuz I think Raw Thrills is funding 80% of that cab. In the meantime though it would be wise for all 1upers to just go scout marketplace and retailers for deals on older cabs cuz there is a small possibility we may not get nothing anytime soon and you may miss out on what’s already been released. Thanks man. ROBOTRON's a tough call. I mean I love that game and would be all over it (got a million on it once, which is no mean feat), but does it or SMASH TV move the needle for Walmart? Probably not. I mean if it's true that Walmart turned down AvP, why would they be interested in ROBOTRON? Clearly, A1up would be able to emulate it on existing hardware, so that is a positive....
@@evilgeniusentertainment the key factor for 1up in the Smash/Robotron sweepstakes is Shop Hippo. Time Crisis was no more or less popular than Robotron/Smash and TC went to Shop Hippo first there may be a chance this comes to fruition and like I stated before Raw Thrills assisting in the financing dept for 1up could play a major role in this coming out they released FNF last year and had Big Buck re releases recently. If they are in bed with Raw Thrills already Shop Hippo who already led the charge in Time Crisis may get the exclusive on Smash/Robotron

You you John! Far as DONKEY KONG goes, Nintendo owns the rights and apparently will never license it out to a 3rd party. And I agree, they should re-release DEFENDER (but this time with wifi)
Arcade1Up needs to stick to direct distribution and avoid big box stores all together. There’s not enough margin for a distributor to make money and let’s face it… an arcade cabinet isn’t an impulse buy. They would do much better by doing what limited run games does… take a preorder to gauge interest and build 500+ can cut it off there. If they were “limited editions” I think they would sell better and they could be on to their next cabinet. They know how many of these things they sell and they could always do an”rebuild” later if more interest perked. BestBuy and Walmart isn’t it. I’d never buy one there unless it was a fire sale.
Hopefully they can do both moving forward - keep selling Pac-Man to Walmart, and do smaller run direct sales. But for right now, it seems to be box stores or bust for A1up.
What drives me crazy is them not communicating and announcing their plan going forward. If they bring a new title I can forgive them for making us wait lol. I wouldn’t mind seeing Games we’ve seen but in XL form. I would like ridge racer XL and Tron XL. Great video JDV, but with that said track and field makes sense in all aspects.
Thanks Julio! You know, playing T&F for that B-roll was actually very fun. Reminded me how challenging/rewarding that game is. I think they will get around to doing XLs, but they don't dare do it with thousands of Deluxe cabs still waiting to be sold. They're kinda between a rock & a hard place.
No way they're not announcing anything until mid year. That would also signal weaknesses to investors. If anything re skinned and/or xl cabs with one new ip. Also T&F is konami and not sure they have that license anymore. Also also...they better upgrade their buttons if they even think about releasing that or it'll be a PR nightmare. My 2cents🙂
Mid-year's a 100 days away... but you think sooner? Would be nice if true! And for sure, they'd def have to upgrayedd their buttons for a game like T&F. They wouldn't, but should!

Probably Showcasing sales numbers for eoy like they did, then stabilization for Q1, but then they need a catalyst. But it's easy for me to arm chair QB everything while knowing nothing😅
for myself i never would buy arcade 1up they where displayed in the store bud they feel so light and crappy quality kids playing there and broke joystick fast 1min .. iam really like the look's of the machien's bud not the size bud iam scared to buy one compare whit the machien that you can build for that price the arcade costs here around 650euro and the pinball 1250euro think in usa its way cheaper for the price they ask here you buy one older machien original
I actually think they're pretty tough - more then tough enough for normal home use. Some exceptions for sure (the TRON joystick comes to mind), but by in large my A1up's have taken a beating and kept on ticking.
No interest in Track and Field. Played it on the NES. I suspect Ms. Pac-Man XL is coming. Would love Q-Bert and Robotron. No interest in SmashTV was after my time. Only want new 80’s cabs.
You'd think Q-Bert is a bigger title then T&F or Robotron, but who knows what Walmart/Best Buy want? Honestly, I think most people just want something different, which is totally legit. I think Pac-Man XL's coming too, but I'm guessing in the fall.
