For 700 bucks I want a guy in a Wolverine costume to deliver the game and set it up.

$700 is waaaay too much for that machine-and I actually like that Captain America beat em up.

This entire video all I hear is RGT convincing himself that he didn't waste 700 and that it's all good while he is dying inside

My experience with Arcade 1up has been: 1) See announcement for a cab that I grew up playing 2) Get excited about being able to finally own an arcade cabinet that I’ve dreamt about owning for years. 3) Preorder as soon as they go up 4) Release date finally arrives, and I excitedly put the cabinet together 5) Boot up the game, and realize almost immediately that once you get past the initial rush of nostalgia, the game is definitely a product of its time, it hasn’t aged all that well, and half the fun was the ever-present danger of running out of coins before you finished the game 6) The cabinet basically just becomes a cool decoration after the initial playthrough, really only getting turned on when I have guests, or I want a quick nostalgia fix 7) Lose interest in Arcade 1up and their announcements for months, 8) Eventually find out accidentally that they’re releasing some other game that I grew up playing. 9) Repeat back to step 1

When I was a kid this X-Men game was hands down my favorite. I would go to the arcade only to play this machine. Years later I saw that you could actually buy for your home. I told myself as soon as I could afford one I would buy one. Years later I started looking but just couldn’t afford one and it was devastating. I found one for $800 that was in great condition but it was on the other side of the country. When I saw the Mortal Kombat Arcade1up for the first time I was hoping they would end up doing this one and the Simpsons. When I saw they were going to be selling them earlier this year I was so damn excited. I have absolutely no more room in my arcade but redesigned the entire thing so I could make room for these to machine. I checked the site several times a month so I could jump on the preorders soon as they were available. Once it finally came I was devastated for the second time when I saw the price. There is no way I can pay that kind of money for one of these cheaply made machines. I can build my own better and cheaper. So disappointed in Arcade1up.

This is what I was worried about. These arcade1ups are cool, but how they are “limited” releases creates a situation where you’re paying only for the privilege to own it. Rush and get it before they all sell out like the original TMNT unit, and disregard the overall quality.

1up arcades are toys, they're not real arcades. The whole purpose of having them was because of their price and charging $700 doesn't make any sense. I'd rather pay a little more for a real cabinet and put a raspberry pi in it than paying $700 on a mini arcade.

Definitely not worth it for the price, size and the little amount it would be played. I love this game, but it is fine as just a memory to me at this point.

I've had my fill of these machines. The prices have gone up too far and now I'm going the mod route with what I have.

I'm excited to see how the Simpsons cabinet is! One of my favorite arcade games, I used to play it all the time when I was a kid.

I just have a fightstick plugged into a retropie hooked up to my TV. It works well for me. These are cool though.

It's kind of lame that it doesn't have a 21:9 panel to mimic the way the original cabinet had a CRT with a mirror next to it with another monitor in the bottom to make an ultrawide display.

I'm a huge retro gaming fan, and also an indie developer. So when a publisher puts out a classic game I'm already enjoying in ROM form on my Retropie, I make a point of buying it, to both show interest in more releases, and to "play fair" and compensate the people keeping the classics alive. But $700 is just too much. I understand that materials have gone up in price, but I'm happy to wait it out.

Captain America and the Avengers is actually the REASON I want this cabinet. That game is my arcade childhood.

Fun Fact: This X-Men game was based from a pilot episode for the 90's X-Men with is very different of the final product and most of the people never watched, that's why the design, characters and colors of uniform are different.

The appeal of Arcade 1ups is that they're comparably cheap...when you get up into $700, you're at the point where you can build a mame cabinet.

I bought that X-men game for $3.50 on my PS3. I still have it installed and play it from time to time.

$700 is quite expensive. It looks nice and the retro coin slots are cool however, that doesn’t really justify $200 in a price hike. Not many arcades are open so it’s not like it’ll ever be profitable like the old days.

The problem with the prices now is cause they are combos. Which comes with a stand extender and a stool. So I still wish there was a option for 200$ less

Excellent review bro, thank you for your honesty. John D. definitely needs to hear real world feedback from average consumers, not influencers pushing their products. I got Simpsons for $499 from Walmart and that's all their worth. $750 is totally unjustified and a ripoff in my opinion because of the issues you discussed. Squeaky, crap buttons unacceptable at this price point. Maybe they should focus on quality instead of volume.

I think at this point they should let you do a build your own option. Where you select the lay out, artwork, and games that come with it.

I’m still waiting for one of these companies to make a FULL SIZE replica cabinet. Even with risers these things are tiny.

I always want to have an X-Men cabinet when I was a junior in high school. Right now, I'll try to come up with a monthly payment to get Arcade1UP X-Men cabinet.

As much as I love that game, I can't imagine crowding 4 fully grown men around that teeny tiny screen. Looks beautiful though.

My biggest complaint with the entire Arcade1up line is the overall width of the cabinets, especially when it comes to 4 player titles. If they made these as wide as a standard arcade game, I would be behind them 100%.

I got The Simpsons one. I wish the coin doors opened. That way you could store a few things in the cabinet since it's basically just empty space in there. I also wish the coin buttons pushed in and lit up. Especially at the $700 price range. I will probably do mods for it eventually. Also, I hate these without the stands, they look weird being so small without them.

For $700 they should've made a 6 player version.

I'd dig the coin doors if it would make the cabinet operate more like an actual coin-op machine (even if optional) so you could also use it like an interactive piggy bank.

The arcade where I used to play X-Men was a bit small so you used to hear that game all the way down the hallway. Some sound effects and people dying were really loud.

Honestly, for that price point, this cab should come with EVERY game that Arcade1up could feasibly do (meaning due to licensing and rights). But if that means 20 games that most people have never heard of, for $700 they should be giving you EVERYTHING they can.

The license cost a lot. Even John D. confirmed that. So most of the money goes in to the license everything else will suffer in quality, controls etc. In order to keep the price down they have cut some where in the product.

Youre going to buy these systems regardless if they're good or not because they are probably your bread and butter for content.

Just release all these great arcade games onto consoles. They're worth $10, not $300-$700. Asking that is just insane.

I have the street fighter one. Don’t think they are worth the price so I wait until Walmart puts them on clearance and get them for $100 or less. NBA Jam was just $100 a couple weeks ago.

The Sprite size in Captain America is because later in the game you meet crazy bosses. Play through the game. I remember this game having a crazy final boss battle.

Love the shoutout to the Milford Amusement Center. Spent a lot of quarters there over the years growing up in between games of Q-Zar. They got the fun indeed.

They should have had the Spider Man arcade beat em up as a secondary game. That game is fucking awesome, and so much better than Avengers.

I would guess the increase in price is like most other things with attachment rates or build options. The $200 price increase is probably costs the manufacturer less than $50 to make. If they can put $50 worth of options in there and mark it up another $200 it is alot more lucrative for them. I agree though, the higher price point really puts the machines in a premium tier. I would think they are almost pricing themselves out of a lot of peoples budgets

Looks like they went with the SNES version of the Avengers game on there. The original arcade game had huge, detailed sprites. This is certainly a weird choice for a 1up cabinet...

It sounds exactly like it did back in the 90's. The sound effects were always louder than the rest of the audio. Obviously it costs more because of licensing reasons.

All three games are really solid. The Captain America and the Avengers game had smaller sprites but the story and environments were pretty good. X-Men is the premier multiplayer super hero adventure. I think the price is worth it for an X-Men fan and the X-Men is such a HUGE franchise.

Dude it's a 700 dollar mini arcade machine not a 5k machine. It's decent for what it is.

I feel the Simpsons is the better value with the Bowling game, but the artwork for X-Men is second to none.

it gets to the point where it becomes an obsession collecting these games but probably spend little time actually playing them.

Arcade 1up also has cheaper countercades that are getting popular. The higher price of the newer arcades might be for collectors only. I might have interest in a countercade someday.

People are better off selecting one of the machines that are 399 or 499 then moding it.

Klaw was the white guy with the accent in the Avengers 2 movie who said the line to Ultron who said, "You sound like Tony Stark" and proceeds to shoot his arm off. That arm is later replaced by a hook or fake arm. He was also in Black Panther with the gun arm.

The price killed this deal for me. None of these products are worth more than $550. NONE OF THEM. Not even the T2 cab. Same crappy buttons and controls. Same 17 inch screen. Wifi isn't necessary for an arcade and should BE AN OPTION. Sell the stools separately. Fake coin doors? REALLY? At those prices, the coin slots should be fully functional. Good luck finding others on the leader boards besides the RU-vidrs who review these things.

Thanks for this video. I played the snot out of this game as a kid in the arcades. But I just can't justify this price for a fancy emulation box, especially if it has audio issues. The only reason I keep my X-Box 360 plugged in is because I have X-Men Arcade on it. I guess I'll just stick with that...

700....they crossed the line...we got these to avoid paying for a HUGE heavy cabinet massive prices.

Thanks for sharing, I’m a bit on the opposite, I would have preferred Captain America and the Avengers being the main artwork for the machine. However the cost and issues make me hesitant to buy much arcade1ups, I was debating on Tron, but until I see reviews and hopefully some deals I’ll hold off.

is crazy cause a cutting edge tech from an XBOX S1 & a PS5 are below that price range, but people are paying $600-$700 dollars for 4 pieces of cardboard & a cheap m.board for it! Crazy!! This company want people's money for sure!

Only machines with Sanwa buttons are worth it. The sole reason I bought into the MS Special Edition from their store was because it was ONLY $400!! The buttons and components on these standard machines are absolutely trash.

Only rich RU-vidrs can afford to spend $700 on that.
