This is far better than any doc I've seen anywhere. When I first saw the runtime I thought there was no possible way I could sit through it all and yet I can't get enough. Absolutely amazing work! Thank you so much for this and I can't wait to see the additional content.

@@BastichB64K I watched them in order. Top notch and I did enjoy them all across. I'm an arcade collect with roughly 85 arcade machines so one of the best parts was watching your series with my kids excited to point out anytime you mentioned a game we own. Thanks again I really did enjoy them.

Just finished this. What a beast of an Arcade documentary. Truly incredible stuff..seen so much new and old games i knew and didnt know about. Now at the 3 hour mark. Man so many memories! It's like each year is so packed with monster hits. Growing up I was super hardcore into fighting games and sidescrolling beat em ups and not so much into schmups, but now shooters are one of my favorite genres and I'm having a blast discovering all the classics. Especially on neat hardware like the Astro City Mini V and Taito Egret Mini II.

There were plenty of awesome shooters in the 90's that could have been easily missed with all the other titles thats why I wanted to make sure to give them proper coverage and the guys who made them 👍

Fantastic work! Most of these games are still my favourite to this day. The arcade scene might be not what it used to be, but its legacy of immediate, simple fun still lives on.

Arcades truly were a universal language, and I wish younger people today had a way to experience how it was. You could start kicking ass in an arcade game, start to draw a little attention, next thing you know you have 30 people gathered around that you didn't even know cheering you on! Friday night at the arcade in the mall was magic!

I've seen a lot of decent docs on games and their histories, but this, along with its other parts, has to be the finest piece of work on RU-vid. The hours of work that went into this is immense and is truly appreciated by all of us arcade fans. I've played a lot of the games on here and the nostalgia is incredible. I watched this with my son who is a big retro game fan and he really enjoyed it, and it served to only increase his appetite for everything retro. This should be saved forever and used as a history lesson. Seriously man BastichB keep up the incredible work and thanks for all you do. Oh and yes I watch all your c64 videos too as I was a big bread box user back in the day with hundreds of games. Still have it and spin it up with my son from time to time but that's a conversation for another video..

I thought there was going to be a part 4 about the 2000s, which was the era I group in. The ending covered what arcades were during that decade, but I also remember playing some 90s fighters, driving, Sega AM2, and Neo Geo titles (Puzzle Bobble, Metal Slug, and SNK vs Capcom are my favorite Neo Geo games) during that time. It was very rare seeing retro 80s arcade games with the exception of Namco's Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga 20 Year Reunion machines (I've seen those everywhere growing up and even today) and occassional 60-in-1 cabinet (I didn't run into these very often).

Thanks for watching , theres not enough info , variety or titles to cover the 2000s decade as the industry slipped into the background ... It wouldnt make an interesting video . There were lots of good releases in the 1st few years of the 2000s but after that it would be a stretch. Puzzle bobble and metal slug are in this video and Capcom vs Snk arcade version at least only came out in 2000 hence not in the video . Cheers 😀🕹️👍

So popular back then I honestly dont think they had enough staff to make games quick enough for the global audience 😂😂👍

This insanely detailed doc series will be studied as a source by university history / programming students 50 years from now. I am convinced there is a resurgence of arcades coming - the social aspects of it at least - within VR. It's yet to come, but I can see a time when we travel within VR to a classic arcade and play these games again with fellow students of gaming history in the environments where they were meant to be played.

Well from a consumer standpoint, it worked in our favor that home gaming (whether PC or console) caught up to and surpassed video arcade games but those of us who grew up in that era of gaming (80’s & 90’s) were very fortunate to have fond memories of the evolution that can’t be matched today…

Our local pool hall had a bootleg sf2 machine. I remember it as you could jump in mid air, which i seem to remember being used later in the Marvel fighting games.

This is a nice documentary, but have you thought about releasing it in multiple smaller sized videos? Maybe a video for each year of the 1990s? That way the discussions in the comments can be more focused. I appreciate this amazing superhuge size. But I think this video is so huge that it might actually be stopping your channel from growing. People are too intimidated by the length of the video. Or they might only be interested in one specific year of the 1990s and don't want to watch the whole thing. Anyways, good work on this video. I can tell alot of love and passion went into this documentary video.

@@BastichB64K- I know you have the 10 hour cut (which is absolutely crazy impressive). I mean even shorter than this 5 hour video. Like 30 min to 1 hour per year. You can keep all the content. Just cut it up into smaller pieces. It's like you baked a massively huge cake. I can't eat it all at once. I need it in smaller slices lol. But hey it's your channel. You do you. @@BastichB64K yeah i did that too but none of them i've found was as good as yours. perfect screen real estate, no space at the top/bottom, instructions, etc.. i can achieve similar look but then the bezel artwork would be cut off, or the tv frame is too big, no instructions, etc... and yours all seem to be in a quite uniform layout i figured they are from a specific pack or something... is there a chance that you can share your artwork collection what you've used in the vid? thx. anyway, i have a blast with the video plus you showed some cracking games i didnt know so thx for them too.

@@takedeepshhh i did resize and do trims here and there for most of the flyers though in my editing program so maybe they were the ones you found. Unfortunately I've already moved all the files into my default image list for future videos in case i need to mention a game again so the complete collection is just mixed into my massive library so I cant really share the collection as it was , sorry . But I hope you enjoyed the video anyway 😀👍 and got some new games to play .

The best SF2 characters were Guile and Ken. I used to do the dogging combos. You trap your opponent to the left or right of the screen and you sonic boom crouch mid kick and if they move you sommersault. Rinse and repeat fun times.

I am from the early 90s which means I only lived through this premium arcade era for a brief amount of time. Thanks to your video I am able to catch up from my vague memories while learning tons of things i missed out. Yeah, making a +2 hour long documentary is surely scaring off most of the crowd, and it seems like your generation and the previous ones are mostly attached to arcades from the 80s while my generation does not care at all. (at least for now ?) This should feel frustrating given the amount of work that went into this but i'm sure you enjoy the few comments you're getting so far in compensation.

I noticed in your mame arcade clips the graphics are pixelated. Did you enable bilinear filtering? Or is it your preference?

Its a preference, also i didnt have every arcade available neatly on one system ... There were just too many weird variations so had to use multiple different things to capture footage so chose to keep that look as much as possible.
