One thing about compilations are the quality and variety they offered. These were absolute quality and a must have for collectors. Great video production again 🙂👍
Hey studio happy summerween .... please I love evidence you a new comic band why possession a ch for bame : " Mega 64 " No' more congratulation for your opera .... wow ! ✌
Hi there, have a look into C64 spanish game covers by Alfonso Azpiri, he made us buy games (still) just for having these piece of art (despite of sometimes games were not really good...). Cheeers!
Oh yeah I know him from Lorna or Heavy Metal .. i was a big comic collector back in the day . Never came across any of his game covers though that im aware of , do you know any C64 game names ??
I played Pool and Curse several times through the years. I bought the books and later the campaign settings for AD&D. I have played Pool as a GM years ago and granted is was a subtly different as a TTRPG but the mood was still there. For instance the map to Valhigen graveyard was totally different but I can understand that. You had to change something to make it work on the table instead of a computer. But that was on the whole it; subtle differences regarding some of the maps but the story was the same.
Man, great work! How did I miss this video when it posted? I know you've talked about this game before, and it's great that you're spreading the word about these underappreciated gems. I wonder if anyone has converted this to crt...
@@pacbilly oh damn my bad , i was wrong 🫣 i made this video and the D&D one at the same time and played 13 different RPGs , most of the D&D games have crts or easyflashes but Tangles Didn't now that i look at my file sorry about that , it was still easy to play with a bit of disc swapping needed but it wasn't that bad
Before I got into RPGs, I noticed they were more expensive than other games. I assumed they were for special people who were above the normal arcade shooters. Then I bought Ultima V..... and then more RPGs, The Bard's Tale, and a few AD&Ds. These games are all great value for money!!! Ultima V remains my favorite, but the AD&D games had the best combat system.
I haven't watched it until now. My last comment was me clicking the notification for the release of the video. I have to say, that colour palette is amazing. How is that not 256 colours? Brilliant!
Another fantastic tune by Jeroen, sadly in the graphic department the Amstrad absolutely destroyed the C64 but we're here about the tune and besides the Amiga no other system came close. Need one of those Rob Hubbard books produced for Jeroen 👍
Someone mentioned choplifter in a video I was watching and I had a brief memory of another chopper game. googled for images and found Fort Apocalypse. Came to you tube and was happy to see you had a vid on it. I don't even recognize the name, still, but this was it. All our games were pirated so no box etc. I don't think we ever came close to beating it. It's a hell of a hard game when your 7 lol Anyway, Thanks! love your videos!
@@BastichB64K Yeah, it's kinda a bummer to see all the games we played (and failed at horribly) made to look easy. Watching someone ace one that felt impossible as a kid with seeming ease. I often wonder if I just REALLY sucked at games back then lol
@@RyanDanielG nah ! We were kids and you probably had a bootleg without instructions as well 😂 I've rediscovered old games now and read the online instructions and it helps make sense of many i had no idea how to play
I loved all of Rob Hubbard’s music but the the one I loved the most was the Sanxion loader, I used to load up just to hear the music. I have the free demo tape from Zzap! 64 which featured a version of Sanxion. That tune continues to make me feel all tingly whenever I hear it. 😅
got a commodore as a kid, only had rampage and another game, i didn't see it in this top 200, it was a game with an old plane and like 6 differents spots on the screen to avoid incoming danger, when we would fail, an animation would play with like the guy crashed his plane in a pig pen, it's very far away and it's all i remember, but i'd love if someone can tell me what is this game.
Hey B Man! Thanks for this Great In depth look into the Exploding Fist series. I only ever played the first game. I never even knew there was any others. Definitely have to check out the others at some stage. Thanks for putting these on my radar! Awesome work as usual my man! All this work you do is greatly appreciated! Keep it up!! 😁
For me, it's the earlier period, of _the original_ Star Soldier, and the even earlier Star Force, that's now worth paying attention to, in retrospect. Admittedly, I never play video games for more than 5 to 15 minutes in a day -and even within that constraint, I've quit- so my opinion is akin to "a gallerist" observing the history of video games, rather than an actual player. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uKbJyVPuIFg.html
Two great shoot 'em ups there. Super Star Soldier is nicely presented and the weapons work well. Space Manbow is a real technical showcase for MSX, even if those vertical sections do prove a little tricky at times.
I believe the 2 most well made flight simulators ever done on the C64 were first place Super Huey 2 (Amazing work done on this one from Hex programmer Paul Norman) and Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer Amazing job for the ones that developed these amazing 3D games. ( I don't know how it was possible only 8 sprites available and 256 character graphics..) Amazing work. Test Drive 2 The Duel also very amazing 3D simulator. How can this be done on Commodore in 3D??? Incredible job
The idea of Atari being responsible for the North American video game crash is way over-blown. Their arcade titles were still top-notch in 1983. The decline of the arcades was really due to the negative reaction to video games by the media coupled with home computers beginning to make strides in gaming while allowing parents to feel that they're offering their children a platform to aid them in their education. It was simply a shift away from arcades and consoles toward home computers. Atari was mainly just a scapegoat.
The crash may have been in 1983 for the video game companies but the people visiting the arcades didn't even notice it until well into 1984. The usual delayed reaction between the ship starting to sink and actually dipping below the water. I suspect we're actually going through a video game crash at this very moment.
definitely was a star at the time in the c64 scene - his fingerprints sold a lot of games.... I remember Kentilla and Knuckle busters going for about 14 minutes
Not a fan of all of the AI art. Kinda that antithesis of a retro computer channel, is it not? Burning the planet and paying corporations for short term fun (and ripping off real artists at the same time).
Sadly I only finished pools and course both on PC, I had pools on C64 but it was kind an unofficial copy so thanks to copy protection had no idea what I am supposed to do when I pick up a mission, now that I have all of the gold box releases from GOG all I need is time to play and finish them all, well all except Buck Rogers games not sure why they are unavailable.
Yeah its a pity Buck isnt available, my favourite SSI game ever. More than likely its the usual rights issue as its a combo of Buck Roger and TSR together
Glad you featured him, definitely one of the best musicians, that was putting the right atmosphere to games. I also remember I-Ball where he used some funky, digitized speech effects on the C64.
We've already started on the next version of Roguecraft, aiming for Nintendo Switch and Steam. But, we're still early in the progress, so things might change. :-)
