Great video, I just bought one of these and I can't wait to see how it works. I love your message on constantly trying to improve captive animal life! This also helped me install my DHP correctly on the mesh of the lid of the aquarium. I am a little concerned if the mesh could melt on an aquarium, haha.

Hey Elise!!! Haha I have a sixth sense. They are a great heating source and really benefits the animal. Hows the new leopard gecko doing?

@@JonsRainforestRoom aww she’s doing really good. She has a little heart shape in her markings on her head which is just adorable. I’m enjoying taking care of the feeder insects to and giving them a good life with plenty of room. Been running a DHP on my Grandis enclosures for a month or so and he loves it. I run it on an evo lite on a day and night cycle to give both daytime basking and some ambient heat at night alongside a heat mat on the side of the tank. Every morning since having it he wakes up and comes and warms up under the lamp. Considering replacing my che with one in our Pueblan enclosure as run a day and night cycle for temps.

Thats good to know mate and glad you're getting on with them. I just went up to check on Bert and he is flat out under the heater now looking happy as Larry. Its always a good feeling knowing they are that much happier. Anyway hows your new year been so far mate?

Nice! Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy at the moment. How did the corn snake enclosure turn out? I know I don't know what I would do if I didn't have my animals and my channel. Ohhh and my fiancee 🤣 All good thanks mate getting some projects done in the room and the list keeps growing but I love it that way 👍

It turned out great! Looks like loads of shelter and places to climb. A leopard gecko setup will be something different. Definately. My fiancee is even going to have a go at scaping soon

@@JonsRainforestRoom possible to do a video of water system for chameleons? Like the flow(misting/spray and go bottom of cage to bucket or pan) from top to bottom and set up? Be great to apply to my set up! Edit: instead of my system, but everyone who else has a chameleon/same set up.

Would it be possible to use the arcadia deep heat projector instead of a halogen light as a source of heat for a corn snake or would both be needed?

This would be a great addition to your snakes lighting but you would still need a basking light as that's how they identify heat sources, from the light 👍

What thermostat do you run this off, I currently use CHE and thinking to add this to my bearded dragon and replace my snakes CHE. I use digital pulse stats. Are these bulbs ok to use with this type of stat

Just got one of these, is the heating element meant to stay on the red glow once it reaches the thermostat temp? Mine don't show any glow ,

Would love this for my leopard gecko.....his enclosure is only 12” tall though. I suppose it would have to be hung instead of just setting on screen to get that proper distance between basking spot and heat projector...

Hey Tracy and thanks for leaving a comment. I have seen people drill a hole in the top of a wooden tank and they cover with mesh. You could then add one on? If you did add it into the tank you would need to add the thermostat probe on the basking spot 👍

Thanks Jon. So, I couldn’t put it inside, because even with it just on top of the screen, distance from basking spot to projector would only be about 8”, which would be way too hot. Would the thermostat be able to control that though?

Ok I see what your saying. Do you have anything on top of this tank? If you cut a hole in the top of the tank with a hole saw you could add mesh on the inside of the tank and the hear emitter would sit on the mesh outside of the tank so the distance from the heater to the floor of the tank would be 12". Does that make sense lol?

It’s just a screen top, so no worries about having to cut anything. My concern is that it would be too close, therefore too hot. But I’m assuming the thermostat could be set to the desired temp and it would keep it cool enough even though without the thermostat it would be too hot....right?

Spot on! As long as the probe of the thermostat is next to the basking spot it will turn off whatever temperature you set it at. Just make sure you have it on a dimming thermostat 👍

Im just setting up a bearded dragon vivarium and am considering using one of these. Which wattage would you recommend for a 4x2x2 vivarium - the 50W or the 80W?

It's hard to know really without trying them out. Every setup is diffirent and depends on the climate in your area. But if you are looking at a basking option the 50w should be fine but if you are trying to raise ambient temperatures then a higher wattage might be better 👍

@@JonsRainforestRoom they are amazing I have brown basilisk on this one as well and he loves to bask under Its beneficial for them and heat without another light so it’s best for their eyes plus you still can use at night

Is it easy to connect a thermostat ?

Very easy...just plug the power supply cord from the fixture your deep heat projector is in into the plug in on the thermostat. Plug the thermostat into the wall outlet, then follow the directions for your particular thermostat to set the temperature. Also place the thermostat temperature probe at the appropriate height for the specific animal you are keeping in the enclosure.

See I’m confused, I had this DHP as a my main heat lamp day and night for my dragon. He sadly died unknown what this was from. I’m since looking at rehoming and I’ve been told not to use this heat lamp as a main heat source. Opinions?
