You know that Silco is her father, when you look at his desk. The ashtray and the mug on it are covered with Jinxes grafitti and are of crude design, unlike the other objects on it. They are gifts from her to him and he keeps them close by.
I'm pretty sure she just scribbled something on them when she was about to leave while he was unconscious from the drug or actually he was distracted from the pain of the injection and the effects of it.
@@DecemberSfy depends on what type of wound a long but not really deep cut can be held close by staples but the deeper the wound the more like it is to hit a vein or artery and that needs to be closed off before the outside injury can be helped.
@@thepisewigeon i think because shimmer has kinda healing properties so he injects just a tiny bit to fight back the corruption/infection caused by the eye (thats how i see it)
@@MacMittens05 Does he really inject it though? She poked him around his face and it didn't really do anything except hurt him. I think the eye contains shimmer of some sort and stabbing it is a means of fighting off an infection. Could be wrong, thats just what I've interpetted from it.
That's not entirely true. He did find out she was still alive and did not tell her so that he could still use her against her. I respect and admire Silco's character evolution a lot, especially when he realises Vander was right all along. But people going way too easy on him. He's the reason Powder's life turned this tragic. Even is this very clip, he tells her Vi abandoned her, which is a lie. He also tells her Vi was back for the crystal, which is also a lie.

While i dont want to believe a ruthless drug lord, his attachment to Jinx is very real and sincere (unless he actually knew Vi was alive around right after he took Jinx in, which would fall right under manipulation of a young and weakened child). Given that the writers of the show do not even come close to alluding to this possibility, we should not go off on tangents on our own. For the two lies you mentioned, these can be, for lack of a better word, overlooked. They can be considered as white lies. For the lie about not telling Jinx that Vi was back, he knew about the condition that she would fall into when her past with Vi was mentioned. I'm sure he is not so blind to Jinx's insanity when it comes to Mylo, Vi, Claggor and Vander. Another possibility is that he didnt wanna lose her to Vi. For the second lie, it backs up his insecurity and intention to portray Vi as the bad one in order to keep Jinx by his side. I wont fault him for trying to do so, given that he sees Jinx as his daughter. In every other aspect except Jinx and wanting to make Zaun a better place, Silco is a disgusting individual. But as a father, well... He's pretty great.

@@DjuraValtr I don't see any reason why he would suddenly love Jinx, when 10 minutes ago, he wanted to kill them all. She just wasn't in that room with others. If she for the plot sake hadn't hugged him in the first place, who knows what he would have done. We can say, that she didn't know that he killed Vander, but it seems, that noone reminded her about that later. This fact is just abandoned. As if Jinx never cared about Vander. Don't get me wrong, the series is great. And i understand that writers wanted to show us the creation of the Jinx, but for me the idea of Silko as father of Jinx felt pushed and their relations were unnatural. He just used her. Why he adopted her in the first place? It's never explained. You can say, he was betrayed, so back then he felt empathy to the "betrayed". But, 1) he couldn't care less about Vi, so why he would care about Jinx. 2) He never saw Vi afterwards. He had been thinking Vi was dead, but then Vi returns, he is completely sure that she was come not for her sister. In this scene (episode 7) he is just manipulating with her, trying to get her on his side. And that's how all his dialogs with her are. In the only one dialog with Vi (episode 6) in deep lowland he didn't accused her of betrayal of her sister. He just mocked her for losing sister, the presious one, which he "freed" for using for his purposes.
It reminds me of my dad he is afraid of needles and he always had me do it(i had to inject it into his arm the bicep area idk what it’s called lol)and he had me do it all the time until he could finally start doing it by himself 😢
He used to to do it himself with ease (as we see at the end of episode 1). A hard bitten life of crime, violence and struggle will teach someone like him the importance of self reliance. But he was comfortable and trusting enough to Jinx to let her do it; and for so long that he doesn't know how to do it himself anymore.
Jinx was stuck at a young age from all the trama. This isn’t sexual, it’s like what a child would do. When u have a family kind of relationship with a father figure, it’s normal to sit on their lap. Jinx isn’t afraid or him, never has and never will be. Jinx was afraid of vi and all of the voices that was created
When i first started watching, there were so many signs that it was going to turn out romantic or sexual, based on how other writers treat relationships in most other media, but i was really grateful the series never made their relationship like that.
Didn't catch it when I first watched it but he told her to complete the weapon and so she went after the gemstone. When he found her near dead on the bridge with the gemstone in her hand he must have felt so horribly guilty.
@@martinasq02 agreed. "It was all for nothing." That's when Silco realizes Jinx means more to him than the cause. If accomplishing the cause costs Jinx's life it might as well be for nothing. Notice that every time he talks about the cause to his subordinates afterwards he sounds terribly insincere.
The show didn’t let you think anything. It was up to you how you saw it. I personally never thought he was using her, the way he looks at her when she can’t even see was too tender in my eyes to be fake. I believed him from the start.
It's both, honestly. He loved AND used her. Just because you love someone doesn't mean you are immune to mistreating them. Silco utterly *broke* Jinx in almost every sense of the word. Sure, he loved her, but that does *not* undo what he had done.

@@Jassiij27 where did I say he wasn't toxic. He never manipulated Jinx to make her stay before she wanted to stay before Vi, to her, he was the only person she had. She wanted to impress him and help him. The show implied that he manipulated her yes but the writers confirmed while Silco was toxic and did some wrong things when it came to his love for Jinx it was entirely genuine and pure. I never said he wasn't toxic. I said he loved her more than anything. He didn't use her for love any more than normal parents do.
She should have done so much more than that. Her whole trauma never would have happened if it hadn't been for him in the first place. I thought she would finally hold him accountable for her trauma and for lying to her all those years. He may have believed Vi dead, but he realised she never truly left her and came back for Powder/Jinx after all those years. How do I know he is lying? Just listen to what he says to Vi last episode. He relishes in her pain and grief and mocks her strength, saying that it is what got Vander killed and what DROVE her sister away. Never once did he say 'you left her', instead he saying that you weren't strong enough to save Vander, in your grief you drove your sister away, she is mine now and you will die here and she won't even care. I truly hoped Jinx would break free from Silco's toxic worldview, grabbing his face (like that) and screaming at him that HE is the reason her (TRUE) family died would have been the start of the perfect revenge. Alas, this is Arcane and Silco hold over the girl he orphaned, traumatised and manipulated proofed too strong.
My favorite thing is how different Silco is with Jinx than he is with other people. With the other bosses of the Undercity, when they forgot how Silco helped them they were choked with gas, but he was never angry with Jinx here. She accused him like the others, but he didn’t care.
@@MooBler350 Because he saw her as a daughter. He knew that yelling and being angry wasn’t the right way to deal with her. A good father knows his kids and how best to speak with them. They may both be messed up people, but he knows Jinx well enough to know what words of encouragement she needs. As evil as they are, they’re still people and have emotions. That’s why I like this show so much. Even the “bad guys” have emotions and, act like normal people.

I like how the scene where he tries to inject himself he struggles unlike in earlier episodes he handles it quiet easily. He really just leaves these small task to jinx and show how big they are in his life
It amazes me the detail of the facial expressions on this show, not just the eyes, but lots of muscles on the face moving. It makes the characters so human to let us interpretate their emotions just by watching them. And with Jinx they made an outstanding job.
omg i LOVE how they animated the facial expressions in arcane! just look at that subtle change in jinx's expression at 2:01 and onwards 😯😲 we can clearly see jinx's resolve starts to crumble down because of silco's words
That shot is a good example of why the animation in Arcane has blown so many people's mind. It doesn't get more complexly, overwhelmingly expressive than an upset Jinder.

One of the greatest scenes in Arcane. I love how Jinx feels betrayed to feeling conflicted at 1:51 she questions if he is lying or telling the truth. It wasn't until he said "I need you" that made her understand everything he was saying was the truth. For someone that felt like a jinx to others just hearing "I need you" can make important to someone that cares for you. At this point idc if they are suppose to be the antagonist. I love their relationship and love the fact Silco just endured the pain just to show how much care he has for Jinx. (I finished Arcane. F**g amazing)
Silco didn't choose to endure the pain though. He was struggling to get free (probably fearing that she'd torture him), but Jinx had him pinned down too well.
Notice that the music that plays during the scene where Jinx is stitching herself up is the same music that plays when Powder was crying and having a mental breakdown when Vi told her she couldn’t tag along with her to save Vander.
This is such an underrated scene. This is the first time Silco shows intimidated. For a powerful relentless villain like him, the only person that could intimidate him is the one he love most dearly.
He seemed pretty intimidated when he fled from Vander in episode 3 after all of his henchmen were down and it was just him and Vander. Sorry, I meant to say cowardly...
I don’t think he was intimidated. I think he was well aware that Jinx was upset and he had empathy as to why. He knows she feels betrayed and that’s something he needs to confront because betrayal is the one thing he wouldn’t wish on someone he loves. He’s just not well given his eye needing the medicine.
The funny thing is, when Silco talks about how he's her family and all that jazz, we expect this to be a way to manipulate Jinx... and then Episode 9 comes along and just blows that out of the water. Also am I the only one expecting a "#1 Dad mug" on that desk?
I agree, but...he's troubled. He doesnt mean to manipulate her, in my opinion, but the things he says, 'it's only us'....'i am you family'....'you need to do xy for me'...these are very intense sentences that put pressure on the other person. He's a damaged man, he doesnt really mean to hurt her, but he seems to only know one thing to show affection, and this is to talk people into liking him
@@nape8198 He's a pretty good example of the difference between a loving parent and a good one. He loves her deeply but the way he taught her to deal with her trauma (letting "Powder" die, seeing Vi only as an enemy rather than addressing her more complicated feelings) only made things worse. He gave her everything he had, but all he had to give were toxic coping mechanisms and they destroyed her. When people talk about intergenerational trauma they usually assume abuse, but the scary thing is you can love your child and still hurt them.
@@nomisunrider6472 This is so well said, I’m a huge Silco and Jinx fan and I love their father daughter-dynamic but he def wasn’t the best father figure from a stability standpoint. From an affection and care standpoint, he was amazing, he loved her so much but he was broken himself and so full of anger, hate and betrayal, it was inevitable that he would project this onto Jinx. He wanted Jinx to hate Vi no matter what because he was terrified she would leave him because I think deep down he knew Jinx would always choose Vi over him. This selfish love and fear of abandonment again made him somewhat manipulative and this didn’t help Jinx’s mental state. His love was genuine but he projected way too much and had no idea how to properly deal with a child as troubled as Jinx. Basically a broken man trying to raise a broken child. Still loved that he tried his best though to raise her. Rip Silco ❤️
Lots of people seem to think that her sitting on his lap is inappropriate and uncomfortable, but she’s literally only doing it to hold his arms down. She was using her legs since her hands were a bit preoccupied with torturing him😂🤚

Jinx is an adult with the mind of a broken child, she doesn't understand or know the normal, healthy way to behave around people she loves, so this is just her best attempt. Remember, Jinx is severely mentally ill throughout the entire show. The show writers aren't glorifying or supporting this unhealthy relationship, but simply showing it in a fairly realistic light. Silco does not see Jinx as anything except a daughter, he truly loves her as a parent would their child. However, I feel like Jinx might have a more complicated, and admittedly deluded view of Silco. Remember, she only ever had Silco as a positive male figure in her life after the death of Vander. It really isn't uncommon for mentally ill people to develop complicated psychosexual desires and thoughts regarding the person who they have become co-dependent with. (yes I know that Silco is far from a positive role model, but he is nice to her and everyone else thinks she is a freak) I think the lap sitting is meant to be uncomfortable, I truly believe that it was designed explicitly to evoke a weird feeling in us to just hammer home how twisted their relationship is, and how far gone Jinx is. To put it into other words, I feel like Silco would never lay a hand on Jinx, it simply does not fit his character. However, Jinx is bat shit insane, and I wouldn't put it past Jinx to try and initiate something with Silco. I could imagine it having happened before, or even several times and Silco shutting her down each time. People forget how madness exhibits itself in sex and romance. It really muddies the waters, and blurs the lines within the minds of the mentally ill. As terrible as it sounds, children sexualizing their parents is a fairly old and well known process within psychology. It has to do with trust and familiarity, dependence and ideas of power struggles, identity as an individual v.s. identity as a pair... It goes deep man, I feel like the portrayal within this show is extremely realistic, and kinda portrays Silco in a much better light than anyone gives him credit for. Sure, he is insane in his own right and a terrible person, but he is a pretty decent father. He truly loves Jinx and only wants her to be happy.
The details of emotions on Jinx's face, from 1:43, to 2:05 - It's simply beyond words: She goes from a feeling of betrayal, anger, and accusement - To then, doubt, insecurity, and discomfort, in a matter of seconds. Her eyes constantly shifting between Silco's eyes, desperately looking for a sign of a lie, because of the discomfort she feels from what he's saying. She so desperately wants Vi to be back for her, not for the crystal.

When jinx looks into the broken mirror,the scattered glass looks like the scar on silcos face.Silcos scar is on the right side but since jinx is looking into a mirror hers would be on the right side too. When the voices in her heads talk to her it’s like the conflict of her own conviction and silco’s beliefs
This show really portrayed a mental breakdown in the most believable and sympathetic light. Jinx laughs not because "haha, I'm crazy, isn't it funny?" but because she's so overwhelmed and overwrought by her mind attacking and tormenting her, by what seems like her sister, the one in her life that hated Piltover more than even her, falling in love with an Enforcer. Jinx herself has changed so much, and there is no going back to the way things were, and Jinx is so terrified of being rejected/abandoned once again by her sister. I feel like Jinx knows that Silco is using her, but she also wants to believe that he actually cares. Silco cares in his own way, but he also very much is using her for his own ends, because in his mind the ends justify the means. Zaun will be better off once it becomes independent, and Jinx, by extension, be better off when she finally comes into her own. He wants Jinx by his side because he has come to care for her and knows she is a nigh-unstoppable powerhouse, his greatest weapon against Piltover because so long as she's devoted to him, he has a nigh-unstoppable prodigy in his roster. Silco is both pragmatism and sentiment. He loves her for what she can do for him, but eventually he came to love her regardless.
It's so heartbreaking. You see her guard & anger falter as he explains his side, how her beloved sister "abandoned" her, & how he needs her. He believes it alright, but this is absolutely the manipulation of that little girl he found, the little girl she still is. I believe he cares for her but he definitely spun a web of manipulation to form this relationship between them.
Is it manipulation if he also genuinley believes what he's saying though? You have to remember that everything he says comes from his own trauma and the mistrust it instilled in him.

@@sthefanybatista2101 I mean you really can't interpret it as that because there isn't much evidence for it. I've watched the show 12 times and at first I thought he was emotionally manipulating her a bit but every time I watch it I notice more and more how everything he does is out of genuine fear for her well being. He doesn't tell Jinx about Vi being alive because he didn't know she was alive and when he did find out he didnt have much time to sit down and talk to Jinx about it since she was off doing her own thing. He tries to kill Vi because he is paranoid due to his trauma with Vander that Vi is going to betray and hurt Jinx, and to be honest, she does end up hurting her in the final scene where she causes Jinx to have a panic attack and see things that aren't there (while Silco tries to calm her down and shut Vi up might I add) to the point where she freaks out and kills Silco, the only family who still actually acceoted her for who she was. Silco was absolutely an awful person, but he did not purposefully manipulate Jinx. Any manipulation he did was not to keep her under control, we see throughout the series that he very much has no control over her and has little interest in trying (hence why he seems so disinterested when Marcus says "you said you could control her" and why he didnt scold her for ruining his shipment of shimmer or killing a bunch of enforcers) it was to try to protect her from threats that he and his trauma induced paranoia fabricated (to a certain extent).
@@stuffynosepatrol he still an awful parent, he keeps Jinx alway from meeting Vi again because he's projecting his own issues on Jinx and that's not health. And might i add, that Silco only attacked Vi that time because he didn't wanted to her make Jinx head, not because she was having a panic attack. Also, he basically changed her to fit his own ideals and turned her into a weapon, even without meaning it, and basically his answer to Jinx having PTSD of the death of Ger family was to just showe it off and concentrate on the weapon she was making. Silco really did loved Jinx, but he wasn't a good parent and just made all her issues and problems worse, so even if he didn't meant to manipulate her, he kinda did even if he genuine believes in it

The thing is, silco’s not trying to lie to her. He’s taking the information that vi “abandoned “ jinx before and is making an educated guess as to why vi and caitlyn are in the under city.
No, he is totally manipulative. He thinks Vi was dead, he ordered himself that Marcus kills her. Still claimed she "abandoned" Jinx so she feels isolated and were more dependant of him. When Vi appears again he is surprised because he thinks she is dead and try to hide it so he can kill her.
Honestly, can't resist her charisma, but damn if all her madness isn't simply childish. Charming, really, but I feel exquisitely deceived. Just sharing opinion
I only now realize the little trinkets he has on his desk that are clearly from Jinx are only revealed at 2:33. Before they're covered. Yet another little detail that shows Silco really sees Jinx as his daughter. It's probably something easily missed watching it first time around.

It's interesting that you can actually make out the voices in the beginning. Vi being back has ripped open the trauma of that night and now everything is that much louder. *'You lost her'* "I didn't lose her. They took her." *'She cares about the Enforcer, you saw it'* "She was there for me, not the Enforcer." *'Remember her name?'* "Why would I remember her name? She's just some stupid topsider."

And it's not that she has a problem with her reflection, she just slumps back in her chair because stapling your own wound is exhausting work. The plain forces you into an adrenaline fueled state and once you're done you start to crash, quickly.
Is it just me that thinks Jinx should probably have taken her peddle pushers off before she stapled her leg? Surely even fictional characters need to sleep, wash and use the toilet? Gonna make taking them off a bit difficult once they've healed into the wound on her leg.
Jinx gave into silco's words because it has truth to it. She understood silco wasn't lying to her and it made perfect sense because all these years and all the sudden the only time you get to hear she's alive she's with an enforcer trying to regain the hextech prototype Jinx so happened to have in her possession. It's why she immediately questioned why Vi wasn't alone when she finally met her.
God, when she stapling her leg is anxiety inducing.... there the voices that keep talking and then her going through painful task of closing up a WOUND! Like fuck she has to deal with that everyday, My brain hurts thinking about it 😔
The problem with Silco isn’t that he doesn’t love Jinx, but that he’s afraid he’ll loose her and she’ll become Powder. Cause he knows as Long as Vi is alive so is Powder, and he covets Jinx so much that he’s afraid to loose her and tries to convince her that he is the only one who loves her. But in the end no matter how much he wanted Jinx, Jinx/Powder still loves Vi more and when push came to shove she chose Vi over Silco. And Silco was killed by the daughter he tried to keep to himself, and lost her to the child of the man that he called brother
It looked rather like Silco did not want Jinx to experience going through abandonment alone like he did. Zaun is also a lawless place that had to be to fight against the topsiders. Quit trying to be holy than thou, please. Nobody is innocent or guilty in the show. Everyone was a victim to fate. And in our reality we're all destined to it. We all die. See you there.
Lmao she didn't choose Vi over Silco. Yes, she protected Vi, of course she did, she loves her sister. But in the end, she chose Silco. She chose the Jinx chair, rejected Vi, left her tied up and turned her back on her forever. Then when she fires the rocket, it's SILCO's words running through her head. She killed him. But she chose him.

She didn't choose Vi over Silco at all That is not what happened in that scene. She was freaking out DUE TO Vi's words.... and she blasted without thinking Then immediately felt terrible. First time seeing this, you really cant tell if Silco is really being truthful towards Jinx or if hes just telling Jinx what she wants to hear just so he can control her. Its not till Silco finds Jinx on the bridge almost dead when you realize he really did love her and everything he said to her prior was pure honesty.
I find it creepy the way she sits on him. And at the end I really thought that she was going to stab him. Edit: Also worth mentioning is that Silco was not trying to win her back, he was being brutally honest on the reason why he needed her, something Jinx noticed and appreciated, whereas Vi (unintentionally) ‘lied’ when Vi told her she was looking for her. Also at 1:46 you can tell he was about to punch her but held himself back, he could have easily done it too.
No he was just trying to block the pain. You see people bite on something really hard or curl their fists till their knuckles turn white just to block some pain (physical and sometimes emotional)
I think, perhaps, Jinx and Silco are the most sensitive, affection and loyalty desiring people, but they have been transformed, reshaped and mutilated by their experiences, their betrayals and thevworld around them. They desprately want someone to rely on, to love and be closely bonded with.
No they are certanly evil. But there are human traits in that mess that we can treasure. They have suffered a lot but everybody suffers and they were the ones who chose hurt others
Yeah. It's interesting to me where it's almost like the highly emotionally sensitive and perceptive viewers are the ones who are "pro villain". While the viewers who "only root for the heroes" can come off as pretty crude and dogmatic!
you have to compete the weapon. even in this scene silco set jinx on her path. whether or not she chose to kill him. he accepted what she did / would do.
Look at the pain on her face and the flinching during his emotional manipulation. Father of the year right there, Silco believes what he is saying. He is wrong and drinks his own coolaid.
? He was being honest. Whether it's manipulation is up to you to decide, but I think you can claim it was not. And Silco was mostly pretty straightforward with Jinx. It's kind of a boring way to view the series to think "Silco is evil and brainwashing poor Jinx". Doubt writers have something that basic in mind

Well they tried to have it both ways by setting him up as such a villain in act 1, and then playing with the concept he was manipulating Jinx all along. So his death was needed to satisfy the stupid viewers who can't see past the surface. It also empowered Jinx and fully transformed her though
Some of y’all saying that Silco never lied to Jinx… He lied about Vi and Caitlin’s motives for coming back, and he was responsible for Vander’s demise. If Silco hadn’t sought revenge against his brother (while Vi and Powder were CHILDREN), Vander would still be present, and Vi and Powder never would’ve separated. It’s clear Silco loves and cares for Jinx, but he’s an evil man and he never helps Powder recover from the trauma she experienced.
tbh im kinda annoyed at "wow he truly loved her what a good dad" comments, like yes, he absolutely loved her like a father, but was he a good parent? HELL NAH. and you can see it in the way he manipulated her here, sure, parts of it I'm sure he truly believed (like that everyone else leaves them or that he is her family) but he knew sure as hell Vi wasn't there for the stone, she was there for Jinx and no one else. Vi told him as much while he kicked her in the face. love isn't enough to make actions pure. (also, don't take this as Silco hate, I love Silco he's a great character but I am pointing out how he wasn't a good father figure to Jinx, even if he provided love/support. flying walrus has a good video about it I believe.)
He’s lying and telling the truth, he didn’t know he was still alive and didn’t want to hurt Jinx but also did it for himself because he didn’t want to lose her
It's worth mentionting that Silco injected himself in the eye at the ending of the first episode with ease, but now struggles with it. That's how much he depended on Jinx. He, in a cuthroat buisness where a single mistake can mean the end of your life, trusted something with such vulnerability to someone else to the point where he can't do it himself anymore.
Based on the fact that the pokey think is just a simple needle with no liquid in it, it might be a peircing device, to drain the poison out of Silco's eye. His left eye is basicall rotten, he can't even make it blink. S
Because of when Vander betrayed him I'm pretty sure his eye didn't work anymore, so he had singed replace it but for it to work he has to inject shimmer into it everyday.
