So Ekko didn't go back in time or anything, they just did that whole rewind thing to allude to the future powers he will have. It was showing them as kids and how they used to do this exact Showdown-esque type of game. Ekko took out the clock to remind Jinx about it, which is why she laughed and did that little pose/stance, because she remembered it too. He then remembered how she usually shot at him with her paint gun, and used that knowledge to dodge her shots. A lot of people are confused at this part, but I'm not sure why. Ekko doesn't have super powers, no one in Piltover/Zaun does, it's all technology (even Hextech is a sort of magic based Tech, and shimmer is a drug). Ekko gets the power to rewind after he builds his Z-Drive (big glowing blue thing he usually has around his waste in-game), which he hasn't made yet. It was a stylistic way to show the parallels and how they were best friends turned enemies, while also show how he's a calculated fighter and allude to his future powers. Also, I see a lot of people say "Ekko can go back 4 seconds in time and thats how long the fight was!". Ekko in game can only rewind 4 seconds, in his lore, the stories & comics riot has released, and even some of the vids, we know he can rewind up several minutes in the past. But all the damage/exhaustion he has stays, so if he really got shot, rewinded it wouldn't help him because he wouldn't be able to do backflips and move like that with a bullet in his chest lol.

@@GachaCafes Well in-game he heals for a % of the damage taken in the last 4 seconds only. So In-Universe though, idk how they will do it for the show later. If he will heal, not heal, or heal a little bit.

I think a lot of confusion comes from people not understanding literary/visual (good) cliches. “A hero reflecting on his past friendship with a villain before a fight” montage is pretty classic 😂

the thing that confuses everybody (including me) is that during the flashback, he and jinx also appear as their older selves, and ekko watch breaks in the finals moment of the flashback. I thought this could be his z-drive prototype, and that's why he can only go back so few seconds

That's the thing that really makes this show's action sequences stand out. Not only are they some of the best animated action scenes you could ask for, but they always have the weight of the character's drives and relationships behind them. They always feel personal, like a genuine extension of the drama. And they *really* nailed that with Ekko vs. Jinx.

It's crazy to see how they show a scene where Silco is a badass feared by everyone and right after that they show a scene where he let's Jinx walk over him without doing anything in retaliation. Silco is definitely one of my favorite characters

Ekko had a massive crush on Powder. There are clips of them playing around in the alley way. Even if Vi wasn't there, both of them would spend time together, practicing. The fight between Ekko and Jinx isn't a rewind, or Ekko going back in time, this is the memory of them playing back when they were children. Ekko knows all the habits jinx grew up with, and is so ingrained. The entire scene is both sad and epic. How did it come to this, eh ?

@@rumq9305 but it's also present inside the show the Sevika, Silco's right hand was on Vander side once, until she decided he wasn't the kind of leader she wanted to follow Enemy music video can just be an image from the past, before the boys decided to join Silco That would explain also why the boy ran away even with the advantage of a knife, he knows Vi was just better than him

Man, I am kinda tired of people going "omg it's cause he had a crush on her" about the whole Ekko and Jinx fight, I feel like there's more to his hesitation than just the fact that he had a crush; Powder represents also a big part of his childhood, the innocence, the nostalgia and the things he LOST to Silco, of all people. After Vander died and Silco took over they stopped having that sense of "family" surrounding them. I think Ekko saw that on Powder, and for a second he hesitated because you simply cannot let go that easily of the past, of one of the few things that truly made you feel like a child.

yeah like sure the whole crush thing adds a layer of sadness to it but... idk i feel like acting as if it's sadder bc he felt romantic love towards her rather than platonic is putting more weight and importance in the romantic type of love as if it's somehow superior. im sure that's not what ppl mean to do but every single reaction u watch the comments are full of "he had a crush on her" as if it would be any less sad if he didn't like her that way. idk it rubs me off the wrong way

and Vi said there is still a bit of powder left in her. He denied it but in this moment he sees the scared little girl for a second. Was vi right? and then the chomper begins counting down and he snaps out of it just as the explosion goes off. There is a lot of possibilities to unpack in one simple moment

@joey so those "firelights", some were real but many of them were drone bots similar to that butterfly at the start of episode 4 in piltover.. You can also see Jinx working on those firelight drone bombs in the background of almost any shot in her workplace, she even zooms in on it with the magnifier glass during the scene when she's playing Get Jinxed and silco's rambling in the background (amazing distraction over there by shifting your focus to the song AND Silco instead of the firefly). You can even see the firefly drones on the table where she's stapling her leg in this very episode and the fact that Silco seemed to be non-concerned about the blockade and that "Jinx will deal with it.". So Jinx has been working on those miniature bombs for a while and slowly feeding them into the firefly population to be camouflaged by the swarm, hence Vi's comment of "those are fireflies... never seen this many here before" as one last attempt to dangle that Chekhov's gun in our faces before u know... they dangle it in front of Marcus's face.

Those firelight bombs were made by Jinx to be disguised as firelights, it shows her making them and studying the firelights in earlier episodes if you rewatch them. The fight with Ekko wasn't a rewind, but it was a nod to his ability. He was remembering back to them playing as children, and used that to predict how she'll fire on him. Really good creative way to foreshadow his ability while also being a good fighting strategy in the moment.

Even though it's only for a moment, the scene where Silco is trying to self-administer his eye needle thing in this episode is one of the first hints that Jinx is more than just a disposable tool to him (and that this father/daughter relationship is actually real to him). Before the time skip, Silco used to do it himself all the time, he had no trouble doing it. But after the time skip, we see he now struggles to do it by himself, which tells us that he has been getting Jinx to do it for him, likely for many years now. It's a subtle way of showing us that he trusts and relies on Jinx now. His inability to use the needle is symbolic of him being unable to live without her. The more overt hint in the scene is that he allows Jinx to stab him in the face multiple times, whereas that would never go unpunished for anyone else.

Oh yes, feels during that fight. They really were such close friends :( The fact that Ekko stopped and Jinx didn't even try to fight back but went with suicidial grenade instead... and she succeded, she killed the rest of Powder inside of her. Good job for Ekko for luring her into the game and using it against her and for Jinx for something that will be revealed in the next episode. I hope that there will be more scenes of Powder growing up with Silco and her first meeting with Ekko after the end of episode 3.

With Ekko, he doesn't have the ability to go back yet. The watch is just what they used to time with when they played as kids. He uses his knowledge of how she shot back then to dodge pre-emptively in this fight. It's genius, and heartbreaking. They always look so happy as kids. I like to think in some other universe they're still friends, making inventions together.

Yep, you can see Jinx tinkering with them in ep. 4, and in this episode she sees a real one and shoots it with her hand, probably where she got the idea to make them explode. Though I'm not sure on that, it seems that her default idea is to make everything explode.

The ending is even more sad when you realise she wanted to commit suicide when she saw Vi did "not care" for her. When Ekko beated her down she lost all hope and simply gave up.

So for your confusion. Ekko in the game can rewind time yes, he can't do it at the moment so the moment with the rap part of the episode was really two things, one a play on everyone knowing what Ekko does in the game, and two the emotional thing that they used to be really really really good friends, Ekko actually having a crush on jinx when he was younger. so... it was more like they were both reminiscing over the fact he had pulled out the watch and they were having a face off... but actually much more... ya know life threatening?? idk, I hope this clears up your confusion... and doesn't add to it.

LOL i dont blame Nato for being confused. Ekko does not have his powers yet, in fact, nobody in Zaun has had any powers. The powers of these champions come from the hextech which they still barely know anything about. so it is impossible for Ekko to have any powers so far. Riot just gave us a little teaser to Ekko's future abilities.

the grenade was her givin g up on how screwed up her whole life was. Seeing Ekko there reminded her of childhood and she was just done with it. Kind of a spoiler for the season below: People say we see the end of Powder in episode 9, but I think this is the death of Powder right here, and not because of the whole Shimmer thing next episode, but her giving up here.

Guys, the clock-like device Ekko used is indeed a Chronobreak, it was confirmed in Twitter, but it seems like a prototype that he can use with a limit and has a cooldown, so Jinx actually shot Ekko, thats why she was amazed when Ekko dodged her last bullet

Haven’t seen anyone mention it but at 11:15 when Viktor says “there is always a choice” it may have been a double. He was disabling the bomb and if he chose not to finish, he could have killed himself and Jayce. That would have stopped anyone from misusing hextech and making weapons.

I am one of those people who thinks Mel is using Jayce, even if she does care for him. I just realized that after she suggests they use hextech for weapons, she never looks at Viktor and speaks. It's only to Jayce even though Viktor is also as much a part of the decision making.

Ekko doesnt have that rewind ability yet. Ekko just remembering his sparring time with Powder with the mistake he made. When he went back to reality and remembered, he somehow made a move which now he successfully evaded Jinx or Powder's attacks

Well, well, well, first I must admit that I'm just getting a huge foreign fan of 'Arcane" and Joey Nato's too! So about scene, I liked The most, the fight between Powder and Eco. Maybe it is Foreshadowing, because even young Eco and adult Echo can't hurt/win young Powder, and adult Powder/Jinx. Sadly rumor about 'Arcane' is Season 2 could be released on about November in next year. But I want to watch it, because action is getting more and more attractive! Thank you to Joy Nato for his reactions, I suggest everyone, who are older than 16 years old, to watch this TV show just one time. Best part in this episode is definitely Jinx vs. Ekko fight. We get a glimpse of them back to when they were kids like in Act I. Ekko is thinking how Jinx would shoot and uses this information when he actually start charging towards her. Then we also get to see Ekko noticing Powder and not Jinx. In League Ekko even has a quote where he says he used to have a crush on Jinx. I still can't figure out why Jinx would take out that bomb that would kill them both though. Maybe she didn't want to be captured/killed by anyone else, especially not her childhood friends?

also pay close attention to jinx eye colour its was always blue after act 1 ended because shes torn between jinx and powder but in this fight her eyes were fully grey cuz this was powder reliving her moments with her best friend ekko at the end im thinking the bomb she threw was ACC to kill her self while she was powder more that supports this theory is that the raven we see behind her when she was shooting.ravens usually symbolize bad omens or death and she tried to kill her self in the arms of the only one who could make her feel like powder again.At that moment Powder died metaphorically because after this her eyes never go back to being grey and she truly becomes "jinx" also ekko had a huge crush on jinx since childhood which makes it even sadder as to why he couldn't land the finishing blow and the firefly behind ekko symbolizes usually hope and new era or prosperity which ekko ACC did have he made a new space with a tree he was the hope of zaun and jinx mocks him for being a saviour because although he saved all those people he couldn't save her from the path she is walking down which makes it all the sadder T_T . sorry for geeking out this wanted to explain this to people who were confused and saying this scene wasn't good.

Ekko vs Jinx is my fave, it is beautifull and sad at the same time, Vi fight is awesome but this one is personal they were best friends once, and the visual story telling is masterfull, in less than 2 min they explained the Fireflight without exposition dialogue dump its all in the visual and the lyrics, and in the fight again they show their childhood memories and how they got here

first of all it's not firelight that explode, it's jynx's mech butterfly. And i don't think ekko got that power without z-drive when he's fighting jynx, i think it's only his calculation before he is start charging toward her.
