Arcane - Final Trailer Reaction 

For those of you wondering when we’re going to react to Arcane……we did react to it, but we got a copyright strike on the first video. So for the safety of the channel we had to move all of the reactions to our Patreon. 😬 we loved the show and can’t wait for season 2!

I've also literally never played League of Legends or know anything about it, BUT speaking as an animator and general lover of all steampunk/cyberpunk things, I am VERY excited for this show!! It looks beautiful!!!

Arcane is animated by Fortiche Production btw. It's their first full length series afaik, but they've animated a lot of music videos and some commercials, multiple of which have been for League of Legends. They're known for their unique painterly CG art style.

Welcome to a rabbithole of lore, music videos, and animated videos, all against the backdrop of a videogame. This'll pull more lore fans who want to know more about the characters (who all have more lore outside of the show), and casual viewers alike.

If you like this style I'd really suggest you look into some of the League music videos. Especially Rise is just breathtaking when it comes to animation, even if you don't know the players. I'm not at all into league myself but I've been following them purely for their animation for a while. Their Valorant shorts are also in a very similar "painterly" style and from what I can tell a lot of the effects are actually 2D animated.

You guys should definitely do a full series review for this show. It literally blew me away.

Heyo. League player for 12 years now, been around since the OG lore. LOL Basic outline is it seemingly follows the origin story of Vi, Jinx, and Caitlyn, who are very well established characters in a well-established portion of the game world. Didn't see any other characters I recognize just yet, but I'm sure they'll throw some surprises in there, as there are LOTS more characters from that region on the roster. Due to the timeline of the events here tho, unsure who we might see. Glad to see people who have no concept of the game or comics get so hype about this.

Hotchie motchie how have y'all not put out episodes on this yet? I also went in not knowing a single thing about League of Legends, and this show knocked my socks clean off. This show is GREAT, spread the word.

Haven't played the game in a few years but I have thousands of hours into the game. Their is so much lore they can have in this show, super excited

It's a shame you guys didn't do a reaction of this show. It was so candy. I remember the trailer being really exciting and watching it after the show I'm struck at how much more incredible the show was.

It's SOOO weird to think that Kaitlyn was made as a sniper character and then when Vi was introduced they retrofitted their relationship and backstory and now like a decade later we get to see how they met in an animated series... what?

Surprisingly, many of the characters are new to fans of the game lore too. A lot will be shown that is new to fans as well.

Piltover is the topside city and is the seat of progress and technology of this world (Valoran). Zaun is literally underneath of Piltover and is the shanty town where the underworld and the left behind exist. Zaun is also technologically innovative but in an unchecked way. If this show pops can’t wait for the other nations of Valoran to be explored. It’s a rich world with so many cool things in it.

Can’t believe you haven’t watched this yet…. Absolute masterpiece. Never played LoL or knew the lore but now I’m hooked for season 2.

So just to comment on Jay’s remark of these being the classic characters, of the six champions that we know to be in the show, Jinx (blue haired girl) is the youngest and she was released 8 years ago, so that’s sort of correct. However, since then there’s only been three other champions released for that region (Piltover and Zaun) because the champion releases have slowed down dramatically since then. Also, League tends to not have as much problems with old champions falling out of the meta due to the frequent balance changes, so Jinx and Caitlyn (the girl with the sniper rifle and the hat) are both still quite popular.

about the animation, it is 3D models with painted textures. It was mad by Fortiche. I do not know how to spell it tho

So this is a show with characters based on a game based on a parallel world version of a mod to Warcraft 3, which got its own lore after finding success.... My brain hurts

As a League player, I'll have you know that Jinx (blue hair girl) is an older character who is played a TON. Vi, her sister (sister but not by blood), is played less and is less in the meta, but isnt lost entirely either. Even more, in this trailer alone, we see many other champions from in the game. Jayce, Viktor, and Heimerdinger (yes funny name but hes not human so thats why) were shown in this, and as many as 4 or 5 more could be included that are major players in this section of the Leagues world. Just so you know, League takes place in their world of Runeterra, and this city is Piltover/Zaun. Piltover is the rich and beautiful top half. Zaun is the criminal and more slum like bottom half. Zaun is based mostly on pure power and force, while Piltover is more based on intelligence and political power. Thats the major crisis of this area of the world. These two sections of the same city are so vastly different that they now have seperate cultures. And as such, conflict arises often.

Only one original character shown here lol and that's heimerdinger, funny enough Jayce is shown as a major character and he's their 100th champion. Nice mix of world building. Fortiche studios will hopefully be a industry name after this, their animation along with Axis studios really has mastered the painterly 3D animation that league has been aiming for in their Cannon cinematics. Like how into the spider verse was trying to make it's source material of comic books come to life on screen Arcane is aiming to bring their source inspiration to life, and that's the gorgeous Concept art and video game illustrations that normal looses that painted charm when brought in as 3D assets
