Arcane is basically just any artist/animator's dream.

I'm sure by now you're aware of it, the painterly look comes from the fact that everything is in fact hand painted and not 3D shaded. Heck, the studio doesn't even employ a lighting artist. They had rough geometry to project the matte paintings on to, plus a more elaborate technique for the characters. There's a 90min interview out there with the animation supervisor at La Fortiche (-> the studio), be sure to check it out ;-)

Hey ! The animation isn't made from riot, it's made from a French animation Studio named "Fortiche Production" !

they were not rumours, the first announcement trailer was released on 2019, and since then they have been releasing small teasers, you should check those too.

This is how a Warhammer 40.000 animation should be done. Imagine the Horus Heresy made just like Arcane. With that cinematography, that universe development, that storytelling, that animation quality. It would be amazing. Can't blame a fan for dreaming can't you?!

That part about the drawing on the helmet. Isnt that just an animated mask texture? Not sure what they use, but i guess its not that hard to do.

@@RomboutVersluijs Yep, they had a separated mesh of the arm brought in and smeared to help the viewer visually register the arm's movement, since it was so fast.

@@BrianKouhi those are a complete set of Bones and what not, correct? Like a complete duplicate of the basic bone setup with probably tweak mechanism on it to get that weird shape

Nop, not necessarily. I've never really kept up with League of legends lore, so I was seeing all of this for the first time. It should be a stand alone series.

6 years for the entire production. Animation took closer to 3 years. and Spider-verse came out nearly 4 years ago. It's okay to take inspiration!

@@BrianKouhi so what lol they still would have the idea for art styles and to me this looks better than spidey cartoonish world. Also one guy said it took a week to make 4 seconds of arcane animation lol they have to be working on this all the time getting the story together but also the look the places... So I still think this is just riot doing riot. As riot would have a final say. *sip tea*

@@BrianKouhi Take inspiration. I think both of them had a view and both made it. To me they look different. Granted I didn't watch the spidey thing. I didn't care about it. Shows really don't get me interested. Shows can how ever. And shiiii love arcane. Spidey was ok looking to me.
