Thank you for the video. Another good reason to go with Stamina (for the Infinite Archive anyway) is you are still able to flail and beam inside negates. And the casters in there must have heard how much we love negates.

Appreciate this! Especially the alternative options given. I am a huge fan of the azureblight set, I can confidently say it is my favorite set in the game. And I haven't gotten to use it on the arca yet though I've been wanting to, now I just feel like going ahead and trying it, time to swap gear between characters :D

I run Riptide on my Magica based Arcanist. I find that with proper potion use, I have no issues at all with keeping my stamina down where it needs to be with the casts that I have to use that drain stam.... Arcanist has so many great options that cross the standard options.

Hello, great guide, thanks you. Without trial gear, playing nirn + deadly strike. Is there something stopping us from procing nirn once every 10 seconds on backbar instead of using the maelstrom staff, to benefit from using spectral cloak daggers on frontbar ?

Could be if you are really focused on that and already at the crit dmg cap. Otherwise the shadow if you need the crit dmg. Usually, I just leave the thief cause other aspects of what I’m doing aren’t gonna be well suited for those 2

Crutch alerts gives the timer. Combat metronome shows the gcd.

*Exploiter CP point work best with the Master Lightning Staff. you can proc off-balance every single time with lightning to begin your combo. Spread your tentacles for crux --> apply Elemental Susceptibility --> slam your staff with blockade --> buff your damage with Shock Reach --> switch to your main bar for the beam. Then keep slamming that staff to reproc off-balance once the cooldown is over. i prefer lightning over the fire staff. Currently trying to find a set that will work best if i proc Major Vulnerability + Off Balance at the same time and nuke with beam which means, i will have to lose mythic items but as long as the damage is close enough with the mythic item or surpass it than it doesn't really matter if i have mythic or not.*

jewles of misrule is a cheaper option instead of smoked bear haunch. Slightly less stats but health and recovs. Thats what i normally use, but everyone has their own way.

Would it be possible to reach around 110k dps with Deadly and Order's Wrath? I'm currently parsing 93-96k but can't seem to improve it, I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if I have achieved close to the maximum dps with this setup

Pets need to be slottable on 1 bar but active on both like every other skill now. To avoid being too OP perhaps limit it to one pet active at a time unless double barred ?

Hey Skinny, for a full mag route, how viable is a double inferno staff setup? The passive boosts our dots and beam by 12%. Stam sustain would be an issue for flail, but what about just using flail to keep up the debuff while dropping blade cloak for runeblades as the main crux builder?

You could do that but you should be able to sustain flail which would be a bit better

How do I sustain stamina on this build without missing the pen cap? I'm running 6 light and 1 medium to have a good crit chance and pen but I can't sustain flail since it uses stamina. Should I swap to 2 maces on the front to keep pen and use medium? Also what crit chance should I be aiming for on this build since I'm kind of relying on mothers sorrow but can't sustain because its a light set.

If I use the Languid Eye ability on my backbar in ESO, but I have the Deadly Strike set only on my frontbar, do I miss out on the 15% damage bonus from Deadly Strike when I switch to my backbar? And can I still get the bonus by quickly switching back to my frontbar after casting the ability?

What about a lightning staff instead of a flame staff on the front bar? Is the flame staff that much better even with the 12% damage boost to channeled abilities? Just curious if you've tried it.

The thing is, beam also counts as a dot, so flame staff boosts beam too, plus all your other dots. They are both fine. Inferno is just a little better

I've watched this video every day for the last couple of weeks. I have all the right traits and enchantments. All gear yellow. Velothi. With Deadly and Nirn. 850 cp. I'm doing 41k on the skeleton (no breach), and 90k on the atronauch. All I can think of to improve is getting a trials set and/or getting to 1400 cp. Would that be a huge difference to get me to 120k?

Awesome guide! My guild tells that going full stamina is a waste of time. They all play hybrid arcanist. Have you heard about that? By hybrid I mean 64 mag and many stamina skills. They say it does more dmg

Thank you. That is incorrect though. The damage is the same whether you have 64 points into stamina or magicka. It just scales off the higher of the two. But sustaining the top damage builds is easier with points into stamina, plus the best damage set, coral riptide, is much easier to get good results with as a stamina character as well. Hybrid is the way yes, but every class and setup is hybrid now to some extent. Doesn’t matter if you put points in mag or stam for that. They are not correct about 64 into magicka doing more dmg.

Helm and feet have same armor value so it doesn’t really matter. I did feet but if you wanna do helm and have your monster set as a shoulder then go for it.

I'm using Deadly Strike with Pillar of Nirn 5 pieces, Velothi Ur, Slimecraw x1 and Blackrose Daggers, it works really well and I end up on the leaderboard most weeks but I never thought of switching more defensively in later Arcs, does that mean encounters are more drawn out and struggling for Stamina resources though?

No wouldn’t need to, no. You can do a staff if you want but that works with both magicka and stamina.

Can someone tell me how this is suppose to work. I get having one or two magica skills on a stam build, but this entire back bar is magica, that’s impossible to sustain for me. What am I missing here please?

if you are using potions with magicka return on them, such as tri-stat potions, sustain should be very easy. your magicka abilities have pretty long timers on them.

It’s mostly dependent on content and preference but the 3 slottables on the top left are super common to run and great ones to start working towards.

Can someone explain to me why people like to use Deadly on the weapons instead of armor only? Don't you miss out on the damage increase when you switch to your backbar?

Depends what you are pairing it with. Some setups you put the other set front barred

@@skinnycheeks - How do you decide? If I were pairing it with, say, Pillar of Nirn, do I want to use Deadly weapons, and leave Pillar on the body to make sure it procs on cooldown? Is that an example of how the reasoning would go?

@@mayedalshamsi would be the opposite. Since pillar is a proc, that is what you’d want front barred. Deadly is a static bonus so you’d want it always active. But if you paired deadly with something like coral, the bonus from coral is a little higher so you’d want that always active but really it doesn’t make a huge difference either way

Only final bosses drop weapons and jewelry so it is a pain to farm. So you want to farm body pieces that all bosses drop. And buy weapons and jewelry.

I've been in my kitchen but I didn't hear any aegis but nirn like 2 times. Why not aegis? Higher aoe, less chance to MISS the damage from the 5th line and even if you crit on the first hit and then equal Aegis on the rest, you are doing 20% more dmg with aegis. And if you don't crit with nirn you do like 40-50% more damage with aegis. My main issue even when I did the aegis build for sorc build, was that I didn't count 9 hits, so it made the set a little weaker and it had stamina regen. BUT it hits 9 times so it beats nirn. Also i've seen people pull ads or the boss away from my nirn proc, SO MANY TIMES I AM TRAUMATIZED BY IT.

Aegis is great overall but it doesn’t work as well on arcanist cause you can’t proc it while you are beaming so the uptime isn’t as consistent as other classes

I have literally the exact same setup, all the gear, all the skills on the correct bar and I cannot parse above 76k, what am I missing? Is it because I am 660 cp? I have pretty much all the slotted CP points you mentioned, doing 44k ticks with carver but cannot get above 76k was something patched?

@@jeffreyyoung6714 CP will have some impact, but not that big. It is most likely the execution of the rotation. Going too slow and not having good uptimes on dots are the 2 most common things I see

@@skinnycheeks yeah I definitely saw a difference when I made sure the dots were recasted, I went from 70k to 76k when I kept recasting them but it wasn’t a huge difference. Since languid eye is on the back bar I feel like I’m not getting that ultimate up at all? The dawn breaker pops fast but I don’t get to use the languid eye even once, maybe that’s my issue? Idk. @@jeffreyyoung6714 oooh yah you don’t want to use the dawnbreaker when it pops up. It’s just mostly there for the passive in the fighters guild line. Wait til you have enough ult to cast languid.

I knew there was something up with ansuul's. I was recently farming vDSA, and I was using perfected sul xans and deadly. For one run I ran perfected ansuul's and deadly and it actually outperformed sul xan by a good bit. I thought combat metrics made a mistake or something.

Cepheliarch flail has replaced it as the main spammable. ZOS doesn't like that so they made Flail cost more. Now they are making the other morph more powerful.

Why go with a set like Coral Riptide that doesn't give you all the bonus 100% of the time when you can go with War Maiden 600 damage permanently to the only damage type that matters for Arcanist (magic)?

@@Zormac good question! 1st, the minor slayer that coral riptide gives is really strong. But even not considering that, typically around 60-70% of your damage is going to be magic (if you aren’t wearing azureblight). That’d make war maiden effectively worth 360-420 dmg (600 x 60-70%.) So while a nice option for sure, definitely lower ceiling for what it can do. And then if you are pairing with a proc set like azureblight, having a set like coral or ansuul that will boost the dmg of that too is pretty big!

Arcanist domain or heavy att solve pool issue for mag. Every build has down side anyway. Most stam arc keep dying during fight. 😅

The hemorrhage status doesn't (isn't supposed to) effect any elites or bosses (which are generally the only enemies worth specific attention); for this reason I wonder why so many use the barbed trap. I'm aware of the 20sec minor force buff but the channeled acceleration skill gives this buff for thrice that long. If the trap is simply for the bleed damage, cool, but carve seems a better option for bleed dot damage imo (in addition to pillar of nirn). If there's another reason, I'd like to know to feed my curiosity. While I play all seven classes, my main is a sorc & don't really see the point of using the trap. However again, curious to see what others think about the skill.

That is not correct. Hemorrhage does affect elites and bosses. I think you are thinking of the minor mangle that it provides as well. That part does not work. The additional bleed damage (hemorrhaging) does work though and hits really hard. Barbed trap keeps this up best cause it has a higher chance to proc it.

@@skinnycheeks Yes sir, that's what I mean, the effect that removes 10% of the enemies health. Curiosity still remains; is the skill used only for the bleed damage? As a console player, we don't have the option to quickly switch skills around & a skill that would only provide decent damage to a stationary boss (in my testing. I run tank most of the time) doesn't seem worth the bar space. Of course, could just be my playstyle. Regardless, thanx for the reply.

@@pragmaticeagle4832 it is a dot itself plus the hemo bleed together make it one of the strongest dots in the game. Plus as a fighters guild skill you get 3% more weapon and spell dmg just for slotting it. Plus the minor force if you need it. It’s really good.

@@skinnycheeksUnderstood, thank you. I tend to get minor force from channeled acceleration & plenty of bleed damage from nirn. Playing sorc, it's often difficult to sacrifice 1 or both pets for something. However, I will give the trap another try on my non-sorc toons.

@@skinnycheeks Hey man, thanks for the vid. Just adding another question to this, are daggers locked in? I kinda wanna play my Arcanist like a mage, was thinking Lightning staff for front bar? I understand it wouldn't be as optimal as dual wield, but would I be completely gimping myself? If I did go lightning/fire staff for front and back, would I definitely use Magicka morphs? Sorry am still quite new to the game

@@ryanrichards4901 nah staff is good too. Inferno is slightly better than lightning cause beam also counts as a dot and you’ll have more status effect and dot dmg in your build than direct and channel. But they both work well.

This video doesn't feel for beginners I think. Seems like a very good video just when, like me, you are still learning a lot this is way too hard to understand. Been looking for beginner friendly information on a lot of things but keep getting lost in a lot of info, words and most of all abbreviations that I dont understand, making following guides very hard. Anyone any tips? * also the pain of learning too late that I messed up things on my characters like champion points or skill morphs and such. I'm kinda lost now in what character to focus on or starting a new one all together

You can easily reset all skills and champion points. You can even do this for free in your home if you place an armory station and then choose the empty build. Other things will come with experience
