I have a degree in electronics and have over 20 years of experience in a commercial sector. Lots of people don't understand that in many cases only the packaging is different between brands. There may be two companies in the world that make a dozen different brands of the same product and only the shell, color, and maybe a few accessories are different. As a real world simple example, years ago when I was in school we went to the Crescent Tools factory back when their manufacturing was still US based. They were making the exact same pliers and putting like 4 different brands on them including their own. The game changer for those little welders is the power supply itself. That technology has been around a while and not only enables the unit to be small and light but also less expensive than old power supply types. The other argument for the little companies that I always hear is that it's "reverse engineered, knock-off crap". Well, yes in some cases that can be true, but in others it can also work against the large companies because in the reverse engineering process fixes can be made for problems with the original design. I see it all the time in the sector that I work in and in some cases the reverse engineered, "knock-off" stuff can actually be better. I while back I wanted a random orbital polisher to do paint correction on my truck. I'm not a detailer and didn't want to spend $400 to $500 on a polisher. After doing the research I found a model on Amazon that was the exact same as the largest brand but with different logos slapped on the side... Once the cover is opened they are all the same numbers and are the exact same... I paid less than 50% of the cost of the big brand and got the same tool... I just wanted it for occasional use... That said, in my research there were professional detailers who were buying them like mad. Another example is my cousin used to work in the automotive industry... he used to laugh and say that a lexus is just a toyota with lipstick on it... several more brands are like that too...
I've been a welder for 40+ years, when my little mig eventually got too old I bought an inverter that could do just as yours does. I was suprised at just how smooth and stable the stick arc was, mig seems to be good up to about 120 amps as is the scratch start tig. To be honest I was doubting it's abilities when I picked it up and it was light as a feather but all seems good after a year of occasional home use as that's just what it's designed to do, you can't compare it to an industrial 500 amp set, their two totally different animals.
I have an old linking welder and a miller I bought one of those to carry out to the woods or were ever I need it and they work good light easy to carry.
Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Back the truck up! I don’t weld so I really wasn’t paying attention to the video UNTIL you pulled out those little pliers to loosen up the welder tip. PLEASE tell me about those little slip joint pliers. I’ll use something like that 50 times a day! 😊
I carry to different pairs these are the links to them I highly recommend buy them you can't believe the things I fixed with these in my pockets Cobra Water Pump Pliers a.co/d/b8qoxbg Knipex 86-04-100 Pliers Wrench XS a.co/d/3rUSPsr
I’m glad you take some of these products to try. As a homeowner this would be great. When my son in laws mower deck got a hole blown through it, there were no used or new ones to be had with supply chains being what they are. I ended up riveting metal for a repair but it never looks neat and clean like a weld will. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Brandon thanks for the demonstration looks like it done a great job. It’s ideal for your average home owner that doesn’t have need for the big welder like you guys use. Keep doing what you’re doing 👍
I love the content... keep it up.. I have used my AHP 200x ac/DC for 90% ALUMINUM TIG WELDING AND IT HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN.. PRICE Point and usability is excellent on the inverters.
Your welcome thank you!!....just a empty oil bucket I pop the lids off em and throw my scrap off the welding table in them makes it nice for transportation to the recycle I just haven't taken the lid off yet
Fronius. Battery welder rocks. 7-10 1/8”sticks on a single charge. Plugged into a 110v 15a circuit its a 100% duty cycle. Way more expensive but we have several and working in food plants they paid for themselves immediately with not trying to find 240/480 close.
@@dirtgrainsteellook online. We have a dealer up here in Grand Rapids MI. Nothing like burning 7018 in the middle of a plant on a small job and not needing any power source. At least for a few rods. Add 110v and you can burn all day non stop
have you tried 6011 rod? everyone is doing 6013 and 7018 and on arccaptains channel when someone asked about using 6011 instead of 6013 they said use 7018 instead instead of 6011 makes me think it cant do 6011
2/11/23; ArcCaptain 130 inverter mig/stick welder...unboxing, 1st use, trial run. Since I am not a welder, but it's on my bucket list, gotta know power requirements, 220/30A or 110/20A. This unit gotta be 110v, right? Don't remember u saying, un-bagging the chord.110/20v right?🤔
@@dirtgrainsteel power requrmts.. on new welder, 110/20a. Thx. Now...that was an garage!🤔 ...so what happened to that big CAT D8? Fixed & out to work?..or it was in another garage/shop?🔧⚙️🦧
@jamescole1786 your welcome.... the D8 went out the door Friday afternoon it was finshed and ready to go to work so we backed it out and cleaned the floor where it was setting
If it was junk I would call it junk but I can't call it that if it's not I felt it did a good job for it value the only question is longevity and abuse so that takes time to find out will it last....I had a Lincoln 210MP that only lasted me 3 years of light welding in my home work shop so even the top brands don't always last it was guy to cost me $750 just to fix it
@@dirtgrainsteel the welder looks decent. When I was looking for a flux core welder I did not like the attached welding lead from the Arrcaptain. I bought one that has a normal connector. But in the end you never disconnect it so it doesn't really matter.
The little inverter stick welders are great for us guys that only burn 10-20 lb of rod a year fixing stuff. Cheaper than buying longer leads for the big welder in the shop so it gets drug up into and over busted equipment during repairs in the yard.
You keep doing what you do. You bringing in things that you think are something we your followers could use and afford. Because some of us don't big bank accounts. Thank you.
