2nd Hand Souls band members react to Arch Enemy -The Eagle Flies Alone. Link to the original video: • ARCH ENEMY - The Eagle... Link to our channel: / @2ndhandsoulsmusic
The band is from Sweden, formed in 1995. 3rd and current lead vocalist ,Alissa White-Gluz ,is Canadian. She joined in 2014 after former vocalist, German Angela Gossow(2000-2014), stepped away from performing and into management. This is from their 10th album, 2nd of 3 so far with Alissa. Considered melodic death metal, most of their songs are all harsh vocals. Alissa does have a great clean voice as well. One of the few AE songs that uses it is 'Handshake With Hell' from the newest album. Alissa is former vocalist for The Agonist. In 2012, Alissa and Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) were touring with Kamelot, opening for Nightwish. At the Denver show, Anette went to the hospital and was unable to perform. Alissa and Elize sang the Nightwish set. Floor made it to the next show.
You guys need to hear THE WOLF YOU FEED which is a new collaboration between Nita Strauss and Alissa. You will get to hear Alissa's beautiful singing voice on the bridge and chorus... must watch this video.
Her voice ;D Alissa has a phenomenal clear voice. She shows it on "Handshake with Hell". Fantastic song. THE MUST DO. She also was a vocalist with Kamelot and - fun fact - sang for Nightwish (!) in Denver 2012 togehter with Elize Ryd, when Anette left and before Floor joined the band. (See...documentary "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours").
Arch Enemy is a very heavy band that has been around since the 90s. Alicia White-Gluz is a very versatile singer and has a very melodic voice. If you want your mind completely blown check out the song "nemesis" live from Wakken 2016? then check out her duet with Delain's former singer Charlotte Wessels called "Lizzie". Nemesis is very aggressive with heavy growling vocals (Live). Lizzie is very soft and melodic with clean beautiful singing and amazing harmony. Arch Enemy's new videos are great and they are definitely focusing on Alicia's beaty along with her growling/real singing. As a musician - two thumbs up, As a heterosexual guy - definitely a 10 on the ole' pulsometer! Hope you all check it out. Love you guys, keep up the great reactions. Animal would love Nemesis.
Thanks for checking it out guys! Enjoyed it! Heavy vocals takes getting used to. 20+years ago I would have said the same. But I've come around completwly on that subject. For heavy music I get put off by cleans now. Heavy vocals are a foundation for this band. Going clean for them is like hearing a preacher growl in church or something. 😁🤘 If you check out more heavy stuff I'd sure watch it. Cheers!
🇫🇮 👍Thank you wonderful souls for reacting to one of my favorite melodic death metal bands with one of their top 10 songs & current vocalist Alissa White-Gluz from the U.S.. P.S. Here's Alissa with the amazing female guitarist Nita Strauss in a brand new music video with also lots of clean vocals: NITA STRAUSS - The Wolf You Feed ft. Alissa White-Gluz (Official Music Video) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YYQ02OP5h00.html
Another banger of a reaction 2ndhandsouls \m/ \m/. As Chris O already posted, the vocalist is Alissa White-Gluz. She mainly does harsh vocals with Arch Enemy but also can sing cleans. If you want to here more of Alissa's range with some clean vocals, I recommend checking out a track on the band's latest album, Deceivers, released back in July of this year called "Handshake With Hell" or "Reason To Believe" off their Will to Power album. I remembered when I first started listening to harsh vocals back in the 90s, it took me a wee bit of time to get used to them, but I also realize it isn't going to be everyone's cup-of-tea so to speak. And I can respect that as their are different strokes for different folks.
Added comment. The guitarist and founder of the band ( the one with the dark hair) was originally in the 80s/90s death metal band Carcass. That's that classic sound you hear (or the melody).
Guess its what you're use to in the end, I saw them live in Feb. 2023 and they are down right fantastic. Handshake with Hell is song where Alissa puts in some cleans.
Aye, but if they do "Nemesis," I would hope they would either do the live performance from the 2008 Tokoyo concert with Angela or the live performance from the 2016 Wacken show with Alissa.
Please learn the setlist in 48 Hours. Alissa White-Gluz was one of the ladies who helped sing in clean vocals for Nightwish when Anette Olzon Became unwell' This was before Floor came in and replaced Anette during that time Alissa was performing with Kamelot band. Kamalot is a great band with the latest Vocalist Tommy Karevik Which he features a lot in Ayreon. Floor is friends with the Canadian singer Alissa.
So glad you react to arch enemy 💜 they are an integral part of my workout playlist - alyssa, aside from her crazy vocal range and being stunningly beautiful, is a wonderful kind spirit, promoting vegan lifestyle and animal rights
6:39 - This is Alyssa singing acapella (all vocals): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oqvUIyoDgXU.html . I'm not exactly a fan of death metal, but I lurve's me some Arch Enemy🤗. 🤘🤘
last i heard the singer alissa was with my guy doyle the og guitarist from the misfits ..check them out with danzig on vocals 77-83...my personal favorite band ever
Alissa can most certainly sing different too, she even sang in Nightwish when the break with Anette happened, which you can see in the documentary "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours". I can definitely recommend watching that one if you haven't already
As others have said, Alissa has a great clean voice as well. Pity is she can't use it much with Arch Enemy 😀. I recently joined her on Patreon, to have a bit more of her clean singing 🤘🏻💙. She may not share your beliefs, but she's a great human being supportive of causes I find very worthwhile. For another lady that does great clean singing and growling, try Melissa Bonny of Switzerland and her band Ad Infinitum 🤘🏻 from Germany.
YEAH .... you found Arch Enemy from my country Sweden :) Try 'Handshake With Hell' .... Alissa use both growl and clean and she's doing that well. Their newest cd are a favorite
Well, surprised you didn't care for this one. But I get it. Death Metal vocals aren't for everybody, but they tend to fit the style of music they're sung with. However if you care to give the band another chance, check out their new song (off their new album, anyway) called "Handshake With Hell." I think you'll get what you're looking for with that one. But I agree, I think Arch Enemy needs to use clean vocals for their choruses, for if nothing else to break up the monotony of the harsh vocals.
Well, you should hear her predecessor... Now there was one Thor's hammer with lipstick -- to help explain the red stain at the bottom of any crater she left behind. Awesome lady, pure dominatrix. In Europe we appreciate the wealth of prehistoric belief systems as cultural heritage, as sometimes they convey deep insight to our earlier understanding of our physical, social and psychological living conditions. They provide views to how the playful creativity and instrumental use of imagination came to be an integral element of and a catalyst to our species' cultural development. We just don't necessarily like such superstitions entering the politics, and that applies to cults of personality (dead or alive) too. (Any parties promoting such beliefs are part of the democratic system though, and often have their say in coalitions.) A well informed people living a fulfilling life in a functional democracy will be the Arch Enemy and the Nemesis, that guards the society against the Tyrant, namely the excesses of greed, vanity and hunger for power that so easily take over any single human being almost regardless his or her former moral rectitude. Any corruption of the powerful has to be defeated in this world, and the accountability has to come in this tangible reality as there are no credible accounts of any existence beyond it. Otherwise, you'd be giving the charismatically corrupted a _carte blanche_ to do what pretty much all the American televangelists have done since the snake oil sales dropped, but on a national level. I hope my sincere remarks don't offend any of you unreasonably. Let's just agree to disagree, but compare notes just in case something makes sense all of a sudden.
She is the best vocalist and performer in music today - ANY MUSIC. She sings cleans also - check out " Handshake with Hell" . Incredible cleans! You people sound like old boomers! Also listen to " The Wolf You Feed" by Nita Strauss featuring Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy.
This band is melodic death metal. Lyrics in this genre tend to be very far from Christianity, as unfortunately, most metal lyrics are. Arch Enemy is almost always 100% harsh vocals. To hear a song with clean vocals, listen to the song Handshake with Hell. Alissa is an amazing vocalist.
Fun fact: Eagles pair up and mate for life, just like we believe is proper. But, if one of the pair dies, the other "Flies Alone" the rest of it's life. This would suggest that this creature has feelings and knows what love is. And we all know that god (no matter what name you speak of him) is the source of love as an element in the universe because god is the creator of it all. 🤔
