This is what flying is all about .... as much as I love drones ... drones just throw shed loads of energy away in order to fly .... this is the way to do it.
Could this have been the design that Henri Mignet was searching for, in his mind; but the "tek" was not yet in place for the man to "put it all together?" (Making this another "Louse of the Sky.")
No : henry Mignet did seach a design extremly easy to fly ( Mignets "pou du ciel are piloting in 2 axis) and who not stall or spin...The only glider who had such caractéristics was the Fauvel gliders (See Fauvel AV361)
Un appareil intéressant, mais affreusement cher et plutôt encombrant de par sa conception assez classique: une aile volante type Aériane Swift light PAS est presque moitié moins chère et tout aussi performante (même si sa finesse est légèrement inférieure)
@@mixblast1 well I understand that but if my mission is to fly for a hundred grand I mean I guess to each his own and how much money they have but a hundred grand I think I'd want to buy something a little more sporty or faster but I can't lie this is a pretty cool glider to be able to take off from flat ground like that is pretty awesome
@@mixblast1 The magic of this glider is its very low sink rate at 98 feet per minute 0.5m/s! Thanks to the very light weight of the glider plus its design aerodynamics, this is possible. A low sink rate like this means it can maintain and gain altitude in thermal, orographic ( ridge) lift and other micro lift opportunities often too light for heavier traditional sailplanes to take advantage of. Combine that with a 28:1 and you have a pretty magic soaring glider. Especially when it can also be foot launched, bungee launched, and tow launched via winch, ultra light tug, traditional glider tow plane. Plus the electric motor.launch option with folding prop for motor off soaring!
