Great Review! Very informative and nice attention to detail! FYI... The recoil pad is removable for individuals utilizing armor, thick web gear or a heavy coat. This will shorten length of pull another 5/8". Best Regards, Mike Ballard Director of R&D Archangel Manufacturing
Great video. I add one extra step when insuring a weapon that can handle a dry-fire such as the AKM can and frequently does unless using a BHO magazine. I do the exact same thing as you did, except that I point the weapon in a safe direction and pull the trigger. It may seem pointless...but it adds one more very easy verification that it is not loaded. Started doing it after seeing a guy go through all the other steps, yet he somehow missed a chambered round and had a discharge when he rotated a Fully auto Safety up while attempting to remove it to grind it to be safe for his Semi-Auto.
I like the fact they give two hand-guard options. I have the stock for the mini-14 and even though its a mini-14, it brings that gun to a whole new level in my opinion due to the stock, adj. comb. and rail allowing co-witness capabilities,... very fun little rifle now..The Pro mag AA stuff seems to be fairly decent stuff for the $$ and even though it does add some weight its well worth the advantages it gives for those on a lower budget, and good heat protection too. Thanks for the review...very cool !!
how do you like this stock? how is it holding up? I can get this stock for about 1/3 the cost of the zhukov and im kinda stuck between the two. The zhukov overall i think is a better stock but for 60+ more dollars is it worth that much more? Thanks
I keep filling mine down and there still is a gap. I used a micrometer and measured the old and the new stock so it should fit perfect, the new stock is even smaller than the old stock. Still a gap, any suggestions?
@@joshuareed3415 Just installed one. The tang had a radius on either side back at the trunion and the stock had squared corners there. I used a razor knife and scrapped a radius on it and it fit perfect. Also scrapped the mold marks off the sides so it slid in like the original.
Liked the Archangel stock..liked the way it adjusted and liked the riser, but in real world use repeated buttstrokes on a heavy bag jammed the extension release..just my experience as I use a weapon in all ways intended. Went with a Bonesteel folder instead..just my preference though.
please explain to us what is wrong with a visual and physical inspection? whats wrong with being 110% sure that the weapon isnt going to go off and kill someone...
Not sure if I like how the cheek height adjusts.. Why such a dramatic angle when you raise it? Does that feel strange when in use? I could see how it's nice to have with a POSP or something of that nature but the cheek piece looks very unconventional at such an angle..
won't work on a Saiga 7.62x39 - unless you use some JB Weld to make your own bottom hand-guard retainer, and mold an additional one for the top, and then set them up so they are held together with a couple bolts and nuts.
i ordered the same stock and it is impossible to attach, like someone cut everything past the cheek guard clean off. online everyone else gets it out of the box trimmed and ready to go.
I dont like sticking my finger in places that it can get jammed up in (how ever unlikely). You should be able to clear your weapon visually. Thats the way you clear it when at the range or when running drills, it should be the same anytime the weapon is supposed to be safe.
1. Because didn't fit it to the tang which has radiuses on either side where it meets the trunion. If you pause it when he goes to drill the first hole you can see the gap he left. That's there because the stock has squared corners that need to be shaped to make it fit. 2. Because he didn't remove the main body of the stock for the install and he beat it on a table trying to force it in place. He could have damaged the stock slider function. Also, you are supposed to fit it carefully so as to not bulge the receiver. In short, this is a video of how to do a bubba gunsmithing install on this stock.
hmm looks pretty cool but I'm guessing lots of people have this set up. I know anything I put on it wont be "Original" but I do like to put my own parts on. good review though guys. thumbsup.
They could but you can fit it up much better on your own. That being said this guy bubba'd the hell out of this one. No sense in shipping it pre bubba'd and screwing up everyone else's install.
The top one worked perfectly but the bottom one had to be cut in half leaving one screw hole and bent flush against the stock so I could drill the screw in but u could probably cut it completely off I ju st wanted that extra securement.
I have been looking for a stock for my c39 but I don't want to cut the tang because that would void the warranty Im still debating what to do. thanks for your answer.
He bubba'd it on to this one for sure. Check the massive gap he left where he didn't shape the corner radius where it fits around the base of the tang. You can see it when he goes to drill the screw holes. Instant bubba job. The stock fits all the way in there, not with an eighth inch gap.
I recently received this stock. I found that when extended it seems to have a decent amount of left to right wiggle, not in the receiver but on the stock itself. Is this everyone else's experience or is it just mine. Thanks and great video!
Bought this thinking it would be pretty functional. It is not. Those 4 positions only move like 2.5 inches. I regret buying it, so if someone wants one, Ill sell mine cheap!
my ati stock only had one screw and broke off and it is metal .Ati sent me another metal piece that the screw broke in and it was not drilled .You would need a machine shop to install .Or pay someone more than the stock cost to drill and tap it .Bull shit do not buy from ati.
Almost a win, If only it Folded! Only complaint for me and why I wouldn't buy it. I also do not recommend this for women, It seems to make you Grow Facial HAIR after use!?! Unless you are a woman who always wanted a beard, Then GO FOR IT! ROFL!
This Archangel OPFOR Series Buttstock, fully extended is 1.5 inches shorter than the cheaper AR style Tapco stock. Useless if you're over 6 feet tall. This would be a great stock if it opened up to a full 11 inch length of pull, but it's barely longer than a standard size AK stock that was made for little peasants or pygmies. Just dumb...!,,,, Some idiot in the design dept. here needs to be fired for the short comings in this stock.
if you visually inspect it, and cannot tell that a round is in the chamber, you shouldn't be shooting. No need to stick a finger in your gun. Its not a pretty lady.
I will disagree until my dying day. We don't take chances when dealing with deadly weapons. I have not suffered a ND yet, I prefer to keep that record.
are you blind? look really closely and then you dont have to worry about a ND. i never had a ND. but a FIREARM is a machine and if you close a bolt on your finger or have an ND with your finger in the gun you might change your mind
rwendel762 Professionals use techniques that work in a variety of circumstances. Physically verifying works no matter what the light conditions. Visually verifying does not. Feel free to do it how you like. I will continue to use and teach visual and physical verification.
rwendel762 I never stick my finger in there either but he brings up a good point about low light conditions. I might do that if I can't see the chamber and can't hear something falling.
People need to stop trying to make the AK into an AR. The factory wood stock with steel plate is perfect. It's built like a tank. Good luck smashing doors in or whatever with that plastic stock.
Where exactly have you seen people engaged in the practice of bashing in doors with their rifle? I don't know if your served, but my platoon kicked in doors and if they were deemed too heavy duty, we brought out the battering ram. Massed bayonet charges are a thing of the past, so I wouldn't be concerned with your weapons durability in hand to hand combat.
im 6 feet tall, the wood furniture was way too short for me. an AK is supposed to look like whatever you want it to look like. who cares if it has plastic.
