In a not-so-unexpected turn of events for the MMORPG community, the ArcheAge Team has officially declared that they will be closing their servers on June 27, 2024. This decision, shared with fans in a notice on April 25, marks the end of a significant chapter for one of the most loved and hated sandbox MMOs in the last decade.

I've always said that Archege was (mechanically) the best MMO ever made. I may be the only one who's sad to see it go.

omg, I remember watching my brother irl from his screen as he found a spot way up in the mountains to plant a crap ton of trees. He did in fact get a thunderstruck at least once but hes lost some trees too lol

Played in the beta and absolutely fell in love with the game as it was then. When I finally left I was just sad/disappointed/infuriated with what it had devolved into.

Death through ego flexing staff and pure greed. His vision the last few years was a move away from pvp to pve. All players quit...his banger idea? Make archeage 2 as a 90% pve game. Stay away from kakoe and xl games.

RIP AA, we are so sad for you cause You are a big game that has passed through small companies :( The best time was the launch in 2014, anyone who played it knows what I'm talking about. I wish I had a time machine to play this again

Meanwhile, in winter the Russian localization of ArcheAge celebrated its 10th anniversary . by the official there are 3 pirate versions of ArcheAge, 2 Russian and 1 Euro classic :D

yes i play at 6pm ~7pm a day it was a good time to log in to see more ppl. but now not so sure? rest form the drama and log in at the end to see the good bye to the server on last days :/

I met 2 of my best friends in this game and one who I would eventually meet in person and he is now my boyfriend and we live together. We meet through this game and its sad to see it end.

Companies be like: "We are sorry but game has to close because blah blah blah", behind curtains": "let's just close the previous game so they will stick to our new one, who cares for all the time/effor/money players spent".

one the best games i've played enjoyed my time from 2013-2017 since the beta days. Man what a ride this game was and only if it was handled differently, still searching for a game to this day that scratches the itch that archeage was.

I've been playing ArcheAge since its release, and I believe it’s one of the most enjoyable games with the best mechanics ever created. However, I stopped playing due to poor management after Black Desert Online (BDO) was released. It's important to remember the history with Kakao Games and BDO. Initially managed by Kakao, BDO was transferred to Pearl Abyss three years later. Under new management, the game improved significantly. Now, Kakao Games is taking over ArcheAge... Hmm, well, okay. I remain skeptical of Kakao’s management, but my love for ArcheAge is strong. I'll give it another try, not because of Kakao, but for the game itself.

kakao is shutting it down, they've already owned it for more than 3 years, they are not taking it over to revive it. However ArcheRage is a private server and is the best version of the game, best playerbase, labor fixed, no alts, and a thousand more reasons.

@@BDOLife For sure check out ArcheRage, it even has a giant custom map that blows most of lives updates out of the water, let alone the custom twisted metal arena with BOATS!

Yea that's a good point. Archeage must be published under XL Games management, worldwide. But problem is, XL Games and original creator neglected game hard long ago, they simply dont want to do anything with it. It's hard to expect positive outcome where is no sign of such. And Pearl Abyss got Eve Online+ BDO, so they pretty much secured themselves with mmo.

Its funny how Guild Wars1 and 2 is still Popular, how people will still play WoW, ESO, and FFO. Yet this game failed so hard and they want to make a 2nd part? It will fail like the 1st one mark my words. This game was trash, The devs and the support would allow a toxic community and shady game play to go on. Alienating their player base, thats why it died. they need to make multi servers that were PVP only PVp/e mix and casual PVE only servers because all my female friends did not like the harassment of PVP halting their enjoyment with the game.
