The Bible Very CLEARLY says that Jesus is born in Bethlehem the City of David which is about 5km or 3 miles south east of Jerusalem. If there is another Bethlehem up in Galilee then it's not the City of David Bethlehem.

It doesn't change the story of the birth of Christ, only a place treated as a relic and therein lies the burn for many. So many places dedicated by this person or that person but the fact remains that it was done more out of ceremony or convenience than worship or reverence. I don't form attachments to historical / archaeological theories. It's better to stay open, skeptical, use critical thinking as well as your intuition and instincts. Balance. This is the major flaw in being attached to beliefs as absolutes. Religious leaders have known that faith and community is more important than truth, despite the fact they promote faith as truth. A bit of a cheat used for achieving power over community in my opinion. However that said, it also reassures people who follow a faith due to the comfort it gives them to master their worst fears. That is no small thing. Faith creates order in chaos, yet can create violence, foul and heinous acts in it;s followers. Two sides to the coin. Faiths also cultivate an us and them belief system. An othering of those who are not in their community of faith or those that practice that faith differently. To be a warrior for your faith is a lot more common than secular people think. It;s just a matter of degree to how far people go or think they can get away with going. Zealots or the quiet family next door, are only a circumstance away from criminal acts in the name of their faiths. I believe if a philosophy is sound, it will stand the test of new knowledge and insights without being diminished and instead open it's arms and celebrate new understandings. It should not have to be one against the other. I personally believe in the flow of discovery, not for discoveries sake, but for broadening the picture of the past . To dispel false narratives, bring resolution, creating connection, and appreciating the passage of natural time and our humanity. It's an amazing thing. It should not mean devastation to know that the Earth travels around the Sun or that someone was actually born in a different place and time of year, than you were first taught and first believed. These realizations urge people to look at the core most important and universal meanings of their faiths and philosophies.
