Hey Daniel! It's Hunter! ☺️ Just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for doing a redesign for my room. This was a fantastic video and I am already eager to get started in transforming my room in to your vision. The furniture is moved out and walls are already prepped and ready to go! I loved every aspect of this Redesign, especially the touches that seperate the work space from the bed, because I do have a habit of taking unplanned naps just like you said in the video. It's like you know me too well 😅 This should solve all that and finally give me my space back and make it my own, providing me with mental clarity and relaxation to enjoy life and keep growing/moving forward. 😊 Thank you!
Suggestion to see if the existing brown drawers can be reused for the bedframe! Adding a touch of brown so the modern clean look is not so contrasting with the doors and brown trim
@@Yiyuethepenguin The short long dresser may be able to be used in place of one of the malm dressers! I would have to measure them and see if they are similar in size! obvious the tall wooden dresser would be of no use, as that would put me in the ceiling if I stacked a bed on that one 🤣
I have been thinking a lot about small spaces, and something I always come back to is how flexible a super wide desk area is. One part can be used as home office/computer space, another for hobbies & projects, but when you are not spreading out your projects, you can quite easily turn it into a semi-functioning kitchen to get even more independence. Ikea has a cheap one-burner induction cook top. This together with a small fridge and a water dispenser (you can buy a nice-looking one in glass) and a nice bowl underneath, or even a small sink connected to a hidden gray-water tank (which can be emptied when filled up). This allows A LOT of independence. You to make tea, coffee, even cook and take care of dishes, without the need of plumbing or unnecessary interaction with house mates. The only thing you need to do is to fill up the water dispenser and emptying the gray water once in a while. But it could be worth it if you value independence.
Really like this double desktop set up - one for computer and one for other hobbies . Also love the projector screen doubling as the window blinds . Painting the dadum also really enhanced the visual coherence of the space . I Like it !
Hi Daniel! Great video, I was wondering if you could add an approximation of the cost of each renovations going forward? Because I think people would be surprised how cheap a modification can be using off the shelf items intelligently. Thank you so much!
Love these redisigns, please keep them coming! Any chance we could see up dates on how the people featured in these have tried your ideas? That Ikea bed hack is amazing.
@@anacreon4611 hmmm fair enough if you're not into ikea, but he replaced an ad hoc mess into a functional and well thought out space giving the user a lot more functionality to the space. He also made the space feel much bigger and brighter..
Going to ikea right now for the Malm dresser hack. Already have one unit that’s been in front of my bed for months and this never crossed my mind. Thanks for the idea.
Let me know how it works out for you. worried about the weight bearing capacity of the dressers. I am 200 lb and sleep with my partner so worried about long term safety. might try and DIY supports for the MDF to help with stability.
@@noahmarosok8168 after some cost comparison and come to find out the drawer unit I had was the kullen which is smaller then the Malm. That being said I still used that at the base of the bed and built a frame set to the same height as the dresser unit. Doesn’t support much weight unless someone sits on the very end but no complaints.
Top notch editing and another great job at redesigning the room, never fail to disapoint! Can't wait to see how the new apartment, best wishes and God Bless! 2:48 me when I see Daniel upload a video XD
That's a great redesign! I would avoid using such high volume bed though, that would make the room look cramped. He's already got a sliding closet so if he can work around with that space, that would be perfect!
Can you make a more detailed tutorial how you create those rooms in your software (i think its sketchup?) You are a huge inspiraton and i would like to try creating my own room in a software
This redesign is soooooo on point. If I watched this video when I lived at my parents' place, I would have gone out and done this! Love these kind of videos.
bro that Ikea hack is the answer to my problem just get some boards for the back of the kallax shelves and that's my bed sorted thanks man i'll talk to my house mates and see if they're cool with this since they gave me the bed frame
Fantastic design overall, really going to improve the light and space. Some criticism though: It is a real shame though to get rid of what looks like quality wood items and replace it with chipboard mass produced furniture from ikea. Especially the desk tops from ikea are essentially cardboard. I would consider at least re-using the wood top from his old desk if possible and painting it. The wooden dresser next to the bed in "before" photo looks to be essentially the height you need for the new bed also.
I'm discovering your channel and I'm amazed by your videos, especially the "Architect redesigns" series. How much time do you spend on those projects? Anyway, loved this one too, thanks! Keep on creating 😊
I've been watching such great content from this channel and I don't know why I haven't subscribed yet, +1 on your sub count and probably a few more on view count! Awesome content Daniel!
Hey Daniel! Loved this video and gave me a ton of inspiration for my own room since it is also not the largest. I wanted to apply for the Architect Design series, however, it stated that I need permission and “This form can only be viewed by users in the owner's organization.” Was wondering if this was a mistake or if there’s a solution to this that you know of? Thanks a ton!
While the hidden PC is clearly a visual improvement, I think the inconvenience of having to climb under the desk every time you turn it on outweighs the visuals this time.
I know we’re going for affordable… but I am a big believer in a Murphy bed when it comes to one room living. I think that would have been a better choice for this situation & the client can reclaim so much space when not sleeping.
Hello, so I saw you don't provide design advice but I feel like I've stumbled onto your amazing channel at just the right time! Im about to move into a new rental apartment and the kitchen is a galley style with very little counter space for food prep (which is one of my passions). I've been trying to map out a design for a drop in counter top that would bridge across the two sides of the room and be flush with the narrow granite counters that are there. Im running into a lot of road blocks mostly because I just have no experience trying to do or make something like this and the mounting / attachment issue with granite being on either side as well as cabinets below AND are making me feel hopeless. I would love to engage with you about the space and how I could solve for the lack of counter area. Would you be interested in helping?
You can see that his parents have good taste because the original room doesn't look bad, just outdated. And I actually like a lot that wooden furniture he has for its details. I think the way you have redesigned the space is very comfortable. A very wide and long desktop makes all the difference when you live in one room. However, I think the room really calls for more brown, maybe an accent wall opposite the wardrobes, or a rug/covers. The doors do look quite old, so when you contrast them with white, new, very simple and modern furniture, I am afraid it might make them stand out too much. Thus, balancing out with brown to make less noticeable. Just an opinion. Great job as always!
Awesome design as always 👏👏👏😍, I think that I need you to redesign my guest bedroom/ office, I have an IKEA just 5 minutes away from my house 😁😁😁👍. I got the subscription to curiosity stream because of you and it's totally worth it 👍👍👍👍😁😁😁. Can't wait to see your new apartment 😁
I am considering your IKEA hack for the bed as the massive waste of space that is a bed often bothers me. Looks like there’s a couple of cm difference between KALLAX and malm height though. How do you normally manage that?
Can someone think about poor kitty losing the space?. 😿 Probably a good 2.0 version of this redesign is something that also takes care of the little friend.
idk if id trust those dressers with my weight. I used to have one, and the top piece snapped in half and I was literally only using it as a dresser lol
i wish my room was that big xo my room is only like 90 square foot and im trying to fit my piano (just a keyboard) bed and desk in here, i barely have room x.x.. nevertheless though im very appreciative for what i have and that i even have a space of my own and place to stay ❤️❤️❤️ my dad is very nice!! though i guess im too young to be kicked out anyways hehe
Hey Daniel, I really enjoyed watching your video!! Do you mind sharing some ideas for very small living rooms? Is there a way to get in touch with you? Greetings :)
Wow! That looks great, I'm going to redesign my room aswell it's a pretty big room and for a while I was redesigning with tinkercad but now I can use this software, thank you. ❤️
That projector will turn that room into a sauna. You can't have long throw projectors in tony bedrooms like that. I've tried with multiple projectors, they get WAY too hot.
