We hope you all enjoyed the mesmerising journey through the restoration of Clear Oak, a true gem in mid-century modern architecture! Woods + Dangaran’s thoughtful approach in preserving the essence of this Los Angeles masterpiece while ushering it gracefully into the 21st century is truly commendable. Oh my. This house is perfect. The scale is grand without being obnoxious. And thank goodness that modernism can embrace character and colour. This house is warm and interesting and the art work is incredible. Thank you, this is a treat.
This one is probably my favourite. Understate and subtle with such quality materials, fittings, furniture, etc. Very livable, warm, opulent, inviting and relaxing.
i live in the Hollywood hills and this is one of the best mid century houses ive ever seen The designer hit a grand slam. Absolutely beautiful Its livable its warm its clean Everything is spot on It the perfect dream home Major kudos to the owner for not tearing it down and for presrving and amazing piece of mid century architecture
So agree - we have this obsession in Australia of taking the soul out of everting when renovating except in rare cases, this is restoration at its absolute best.
Such a great house, but what really stands out is your collective ability to capture the essence of a place with cinematography that is over the top fantastic. Thanks for this and have a merry Christmas.
This is hands down one of the best projects on the channel; what a gem! Congratulations to the owner and the restaurator on this! It just feels so right in every aspect. 🤩
Every morning we sit in bed with our jump-start coffee, and watch an architecture video on RU-vid. We then save it into a "Yes" or "No" folder... this one's a definite "Yes!". Subtle changes to layout, coupled with a sympathetic touch has resulted in a stunner, with all it's original character intact. Thank you so much.
What a beautiful masterpiece. The interior including the furnishings have this warmth that makes one want to snuggle up with a good book. The exterior is beautiful as well. Definitely a project with highlighting to people like myself who wished they owned this residence.
A great restoration of a classic mid-century! Owners could've demolished it and built another modern glass box and I am glad they didn't. Interior design made it look modern and functional and glamorous at the same time. I loved that den space! And all the landscaping.
Wow just wow! This is absolutely stunning and like a time capsule whilst also being present day - absolutely sublime. Everything is so sympathetic and fitting to the era and the gardens and zoning…exquisite! Possibly one of my favourites yet - a masterclass in restoration.
Thank Gawd this house had the right buyer and the right restoration team. It would have been a crime to tear it down and build “thirty thousand square feet “.
Love this home and it’s wonderful it was restored and preserved. The detail and warmth are perfect. It looks like there is another sitting area with raised garden beds on a lower terrace level?
So glad to hear owner decided to restore this home rather than demolish it and build a McMansion. The architects did a nice job of restoring and refreshing the house and exterior landscaped/pool areas. My only problem with these MCM houses are the flat roofs. Unless the designer did a complete re-roofing and incorporated positive drainage, the house will most likely have roof leaking issues, as did most of these houses with flat roofs. The weather on the west coast is slowly changing with times of intense rainfall, so a good roof is mandatory. Other than that, very nice job!
I'd have more respect for these videos if they disclosed how much $$ it took to create all of this. We know it's not cheap, but just level with us. I'd challenge them to see what they could then create at different price points and styles in different properties.
An amazing project that connects you from both inside and out. Respects to the decision makers to be the caretakers for this restored Modern architecture then to rebuild. The details are endless which captivates you wanting more. Fantastic job!!
Wow. This is amazing. Well done, well done indeed... I don't like mansions and all that. They're ghastly and impractical. A vulgar display of wealth really. This however.... Amazing. I've been into architecture for a long time and it's not often that I see something I like. Here... I'd move in immediately with zero changes to anything.
I agree that it's hard to stay disciplined on such a large project ... I cant imagine. We just finished a small renovation project that started out small, but eventually encompassed the entire second floor of our house. Project creep is real, lol. The amount of energy it took to keep everybody on the same page was extremely tiring and difficult, but the results were so worth it.
Is this kind of architecture, true mid century completely updated and in perfect time capsule condition, an in demand style? In other words, is something this specific easy enough to resell? I love it, but I wonder if you are then stuck with it as selling it is difficult.
