Congratulation Dan to the project and huge plus that you shared the code at github. i wish more hams would do that. I guess there is a common misconception that the code must be perfect before "releasing" it to the world. However, there is no such thing as perfect code without flaws. Now, here is what the open source code and the community really shines, people voluntary come and improve and fix, enhance the code and all for the greater good. There may also be that hams does not know Git and how easy it is to freely upload code, schematic, etc to github. Another benefit is that your efforts is preserved, which may not be the case with a personal blog or your own web page, which is quite annoying when you find an interesting idea or project that you want to dig into.
Hi, did you ever complete the project to kit form? I did see some information that you would sell through Kanger products but can't find any more information. Regards from Kent Morse keys.
All Datong's appear to have been built/designed defectively. They all go wonky after a while. The portable MFJ 418 is far more advanced and dependable, as is the G4FON Koch Trainer for the PC.
I think you have started something really good here, (if indeed you are the first to think of and build this), ..... well done. ... Ideas, - 1, - one call-sign per line. .... 2, - actual sentences. .... 3, - take your code input and translate.
+Mike M Hi Mike, thanks for your comment. Ive made significant changes to this project since this video (see here www.m0tgn.com/2015/11/morse-tutor-kits-details.html ) and completely agree on the actual sentences. I'm writing up a SD card interface, so actual QSO sentences, common phrases and possibly a QSO mode, where you RX a bit, send some back, RX a bit etc etc may also work. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again. 73 Dan
