He telling the truth as it is.. most of those scammer guys you read are just a few lowlifes that are excited about quick cash... and their English usually sounds pathetic... The real regular Nigeria is vastly intelligent and academically skilled... I am Nigerian, and I totally endorse Victor's message... In truth, I have not really faced any of these challenges as I do have working and technical partners in several countries outside Africa...
But how can a reasonable individual accept that it's possible that all individuals in a country of 200 million are scammers. What kind of logic is that?
@@donaldekpo1817 there are many well-educated ppl in Nigeria but a large majority of some of them are scammers. I know this for a fact. When a person gets in their 30s, they are no longer youth or teenagers. Inbox me and we can continue this discussion, if you like. You can tell me what you know and I'll tell you what I know. In no way am I saying most Nigerians are scammers but there's no need in trying to pretend there's not an elephant in the room.
Thank you...I'm also a Nigerian and I'm a teenager,I'm a programmer and an app developer ,i'm always really worried that I am going to be portrayed as a scammer if I even decide to take jobs online. Thank you for seeing us for what we really are hardworking people. I'm speaking for the Nigerian youths and with the way those said scammers (people who are rumoured to be) live lavish lifestyles over here(after scamming people) ,youths are beginning to see it as a way to make money and show off to their friends.
from windows computers named bill. No, that's indeed a scam. Usha, the woman I talk to every other day down the street? She's got a thick Indian accent and is awesome, not a scammer. 'Bill' from 'windows computers' is a scammer.
Thank you Ben for this contents. I stumbled on your page today and I can't just but watch all the episodes. I'm also a Nigerian. A film Maker. This is giving an inspiration to make a movie on Nigerian scammers. There are talents in Nigeria but systems isn't making things easy for the youth. We need to make Nigerian youth know that even in a systems that isn't working we can still use what our brain to do something better rather than dragging the image of our great country Nigeria in the mud. Thank you once again Ben and keep doing your good work. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I'm a Nigerian and I'm so happy you made a video on this, and to expand on what Victor said, the number of Nigerians that are scammers aren't half the youths based on several factors, for one, most youths do not have the technical skills to operate sophisticated scams or even access to Paypal, Moneygram, etc... They are brought on board by the few people who do understand these online exchange services.. Another is that we youths aspire to take care of our parents by culture so we often like to hold ourselves to a high esteem and in that regard I believe the ones involved in scam justify their scamming by claiming "half the youths do it", whereas its a small group that outsources through the illiterate and unemployed men and women in the society... I work hard online legitimately selling and buying domains. The next stereotype to tackle are those videos about Nigerians living in mudhuts around wildlife and eating raw meat and crickets, lol... We don't live around Tigers, Lions and Giraffes, I've never even seen any of those creatures in my life.
Lol. The last part of your comment cracked me up. They just say funny things that are very false. It's so crazy to think that every Nigerian lives in mud houses. Like seriously? hahahahahaha
You all need to understand why western media do this. First to scare African-Americans so that they will never hope to return to Africa and the US/West loose a lot of labor and money. Secondly, they need to oil their ego to help reinforce their believe that they have the best political/economic system. Thirdly, they always want to find a way to justify slavery/colonialism. An average westerner is owned by a bank. If you are in Nigeria, nobody own you. Is what you see that you will "eat". And what you own are yours.
My Name is Enyinna Daniel Ukpabi I'm a proud Nigerian, even tho our Government has failed us, I'm still proud of my black skin But I'm not a Scammer.........
This was very eye opening and it is great that you have made this. I am from Britain and we have a large Nigerian population through migration. They are very hardworking people, much more hardworking than British people and nearly all are such good people.
I like this guy. My favorite part of this channel is that you hear from people in other countries and take them seriously. I like the anti-scam channels but some don't bother taking the time to give people a full enough picture of the situation people are in.
Well, I already knew the answer was no cause I know many native Nigerians right here in the states. They aren't scammers, in fact, many of them are very religious and upstanding, hard-working people.
I have a small business in Texas and would like to know if Victor would like to do some work for me. I need a better website. I fly aerial drones to do inspections and have put together a website of my own, but it's not real professional looking and was going to hire a local developer, but am willing to give Victor a chance.
I am Nigerian and 15 years old I lived my whole life in Egypt I recently started watching your vids .It is so disappointing to know that my country has a bad reputation.
Hi I’m Nigerian living in Houston. Nice work . Keep it up. There is a lot more to why scammer scam . Start with the Government. The youth got the idea from them.
Hey Victor, you look like a great guy! Cheers from Brazil! Also, really appreciate your videos Ben; the pace and editing is great. Thanks for hours of fun.
I work with many Nigerians who teach themselves how to code and become developers. Check out forLoop.Africa the largest pan African developer community spanning 10 countries. Started in Lagos to help bring the next billion users to the web.
It's tough there. Some of the people I work with are targeted by the police and mistaken for Yahoo boys just bc they drive a car, have a laptop or even a nice shirt. A lot of times they are forced to pay bribes to the SARS officers to be released.
@@maharony You truly know Nigeria. Yes, You're right. Many Nigerians are coding day and night so they can also join the Andela Team in Lagos. Am sure in years to come. Many Nigerians and people so called Scammers would be Top Python programmers ever seen in the world because they are highly skilled it's just that they have not discovered their purpose yet. Am a wordpress developer and love to work on SEO for clients. We need the world to trust us. #allnigeriansarenotscammers. Thank you.
@@dtadetayo Andela is an amazing company. My coworker @TimirahJ is giving a virtual talk there in the coming week(s). I find that the best way to earn $ is to improve one technical writing skills. There is a shortage of developers that can also write about how they built their project.
@@maharony It's a nice topic. Am sorry I would be able to attend because I just resumed back to school for my HND as an engineer (computer). Am sure by the time am halfway done am going to start going to meetups and other tech occasions like CC Hub in Yaba and co. Thank you for trusting some Nigerians @maharony
I worked in Nigeria for four years earlier this century. I found the Nigerians to be good, friendly people. The group I worked with were hard-working chaps. After seven years I am still in contact with them. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
Love these videos. They constantly broaden my thinking and make me question my attitudes and biases. I had a friend commit suicide after being scammed by a Nigerian. I also was friends with a Nigerian priest who unselfishly left his homeland to serve the people of the U.S. for many years. Nigerians are like Americans....some are good and some are bad....and we all hurt each other when we forget that.
don't forget India and Pakistan. I have had emails from Nigerians claiming to be diamond merchants and needs to shift some diamonds fast and cheap, but most of the tech support, tax investigation calls, etc... are Pakistani or Indian.
The population of Nigeria is 190.1 million people. That's Approximately 58% of the U.S population. So it is ludicrous to think that half of them are scammers. It's just a loud minority.
well its not half of the total population, its half of the youth. if "youth" is 16-20, that would be about 1/15 of the total population. or 1 scammer per 30 americans. still ludicrous, but at least a more accurate representation of what he claimed.
It is really good to see this, not that I think all people in Nigeria are scammers or half of them for that matter but victor says a lot of smart things and he is putting the issues he and probably many others have to the spotlight witch can make others change their mind on the topic. Nice one
"binged" this little series and it is insane at how intricate these scams are in order to cover their bases, can't wait to see the next episode in the series
All the best to you Viktor and all the people trying to do honest work. I salute you. If I ever come across a Nigerian in a professional setting, I will leave my bias aside.
Thank you for this. My former US employer will tell you we had a great time working together over 4 years! Nigerians are smart and self driven. I'm Nigerian and proudly so!
Victor seems like such a nice down to earth guy. He deserves more. And I bet a lot of people in Nigeria does. If I was mrbeast or jake Paul I would defiantly try to get him a job, SOMEWHERE even if it wasn’t the USA
Hey pleasant green I am a Nigerian and I would love to contribute as much as I can to the movie you would be planning to make. I am very excited you're doing this. And I hope and pray this movie would be a big hit. So many people would get to know the true face of Nigerian scammers. And the difference between the real/honest Nigerians.
serious ,i was rejected many a times because am a NIGERIAN, they thought all nigerians are scammers....some company rejected me before GOD helps me to get a job outside Nigeria
Thank You! ❤ In 20yrs of working with teens and helping them lead a value driven and profitable life, I can say there are more creative minds and need guidance, mentorship and right exposure. This video helps those of us committed to building healthy communities. I have followed the series with a heavy heart and thanks to Victor for speaking up. I will mail shortly.
A little support that the scammers numbers are over exaggerated is that you got the same scammer three times in a row. If there were a ton of youth scammers you think you’d have gotten a different scammer.
As much as I love your work, I totally agree with Victor's assertions on Nigerian youths. The truth is Nigerians are very industrious people. Take me for example...... After my graduation from the university, I went for my youth Corp service, I was posted to a rural area, a village called Mbar in Bokkos lga in Plateau State of Nigeria. I did not say because I came from the city (Lagos) I observed what people in the village do to make a living which was potatoes and maize farming, I engaged in it and excelled in this so much so I was able to start my family from what I was making but on getting married my wife wouldn't want to live in a village, I gave up crop farming and stayed without a job for 3months before I got a teaching job which I managed. Saved up money and got myself a dog as I love animals a lot this later turned into something big as kennelling is now one of my major source of income and am also into poultry. Whatam driving at is that not all Nigerian youth are scam artist as your video seems to be portraying us. Thanks
They are sorry no good scammers, they got that skilled to a t!! I was just scammed by one they make me not ever want too trust one again! They are making their own country look bad!
I found your channel out of luck, I wait eagerly for a new video, you have very interesting content and still don’t understand how you don’t have more subscribers!! You’re doing an amazing job , keep the videos coming !!
I am Solomon a Nigerian in Lagos and I want the world to know that some Nigerians are beautiful people that are looking for a fighting chance in the global market. we ain't all scammer we have hardworking, educated and wonderful youths just like everywhere else in the world I am a freelanced web developer who finds it difficult to get work in the global market because of trust issues. Thank you for this videos they are awesome help us expose the Nigerian problem so that people like me can gain the trust of the world. Please remember not all Nigerians are fraudulent.
I feel this is similar to people saying every American has a gun. Yes, they are easier to buy over there, but you shouldn't be scared of Americans or think that they all have guns because of it. (I am Australian)
Ben, I'm impressed with what you're doing and you you offered help, well done. I'm actually a Nigerian, and you're absolutely right about this. Nigerian youths can be creative and hard working but there are very few opportunities here that's why many Nigerian youths are into this. Because of this bad impression people have about Nigerians, it has made things difficult for many people including me to be trusted. I'm a website designer but I'm yet to find a good opportunity, because many people said they couldn't trust me. But on a general note I really love what you're doing.
Thanks man the same sh*t almost happened to me it took the guy great thinking before he finally trusted me and we have done beautiful business together ever since
Nice Clarification from Victor! Nigeria is a country with almost 200 million people where about 50% are youth. Going by Emmanuel's statement, that would mean we have nearly 50 million scammers in Nigeria. That is very wrong! I love the content on your channel, I believe people need to speak and wash away this bad name, so people don't get a jolt whenever you tell them you are from Nigeria. Lots of sellers on ebay don't ship to Nigeria, PayPal doesn't work here, all because of the bad reputation in the online community caused by a circle of people. Makes it really hard for customers to trust real hardworking Nigerians with the skills
Not all Nigerians / Africans are professional scammers. Many are hardworking and even superrich oil millionaires. However, in many countries honesty is not so highly valued. In fact... there are different standards / definitions for honesty. So... I would excercise care and awareness whenever dealing with anyone, including from our Western societies. Oh, by the ways, talking of Nigerians... Do watch the video of that Nigerian cook who survived spending three days in a capsized ship :) he had faith that God would deliver him! :)
Hey Ben, I found your youtube channel today could you please make a ten-minute recap of your Lie-beria/In D grace of God series? It was a great story and might make it viral!
I'm just one person but watching this has really made me stop and think about stereotypes. Thank you for informing us about the real Nigeria! Victor I hope you find plenty of work my friend!
Oh , I am a big fan Pleasant green, your sense of humor is one of a kind. I am from Nigeria. Victor just said my mind, despite my credible portfolio as a copywriter on upwork no one wants to hire me, just because am Nigerian 😕. Not all Nigeria are scammers!!
Every person likes to eat and sleep, the internet makes it possible for everyone around the world to see people in other countries are just regular people like them. It will make us all friends with each other in the future ☺
I sincerely do appreciate your what you have done and are doing to bring down this '419' industry. God help you. We are in this job together. Thank you.
Anyone that doesn't hire me loses an opportunity. I don't have time to explain. I'm valuable and will continue to add value to myself and those I work for/with. Thanks @Victor for speaking up for us. I have a feeling a company I interviewed for recently didn't hire me because I'm Nigerian. They wished me well. I wish them well too, without me! In the words of George S. Patton ~ We herd sheep, we drive cattle, we lead people. Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way.
we have a nigerian where i work , he came to sweden during the early 2000's as a legal immigrant & hes the nicest dude you could ever imagine meeting , granted he does understand swedish but he doesnt know how to speak swedish , if you start a conversation with him he'll just respond in nigerian , we mock him sometimes by asking him if hes drunk or something like that (mind you he doesnt care & the mocking is in a playfull manner ) . so no not all nigerians are bad ,
I am a Nigerian, and I recalled an occasion when I travelled out. People thought I was pretending, bcs I didn't act out the script they expected for Nigerians. We are generally nice
Am a Nigerian, and I love u like crazy. Not every Nigerian youth is a scammer. I am a young Pharmacist, and there r tens of millions of young, legit hustlers like me in 9ja.
Nice video once again. I AM A NIGERIAN, and I can tell you that there are A lot of serious and talented young people here in Nigeria making legitimate and decent income for themselves. Personally, I've trained over 300 Nigerians on how to import products into Nigeria and sell to make decent money. So why we're fighting to redeem our name, my team and I are trying to see how many young people we can take off poverty in Nigeria through the little skill on making legitimate income in the Ecom Niche. Because, lack of money and JOB drove 98% of these scammers into doing what they're doing. May God help us!
Absolutely love your videos. Positive vibes in a world full of negatives! Keep up the good work. Been following the channel for a while now. Any update on Joel and the water pumps at the schools?
I Know that there are a lot of Nigerians that are Not Scammers... I know Some that are Real Good People And Very Hard Working!……. The Ones that Are Doing the Scamming are giving Nigerians A Bad Name.... it is Totally NOT TRUE... NOT ALL ARE
Maybe it's just 1%. Unfortunately, what we see from our end is that a great number of the scams come from Nigeria. So the best thing you can do to help your image is to get your government to crack down on the practice.
Thanks for this video and for giving other people a chance. Please Nigerians are one of the most hard working people I've ever met. The scammers are just a small percentage out of 200million people. We are hard working and take pride in earning our money the right way. I hate it when I present my Green Passport at the airports and get labelled straight away. It's a sad reality that we have to live with, and while you help expose the bad ones, pls let the world know that not everyone of us are scammers or corrupt people. We are hardworking and just want to take care of our families. Thank you Ben
I'll love to star in your movie I'm a unique character...actually a late diagnosed tumor successfully excised gave me a look of a 12 yrs old even tho I'm chronological 34. I am skilful I have MSc in Biochemistry. ...I am jobless...I do some online stuffs....I am not a scammer In fact my MSc thesis is presently on review by an Elsevier journal
THANK U THANK U THANK U i m in tears thats the nicest thing anyone s ever doen for me i realy dont knowe how to thank u your so kind may god bless ubless your kids and keep nice kind people around u always and keep u out of harms way
@@toraktech8731 I total agree with you. Well am from Nigeria, am black, but I can tell you that there are some very very very very good people in Nigeria that you will love to meet. E.g T.B Joshua.
