Bipolar bisexual here. I’ve noticed a lot of bipolar people are bisexual/pansexual/multisexual as well. (I use the term bi for myself because it’s well-known.) Many bipolar people also report having a high sex drive and strong impulses, too. Thank you for speaking up about the topics other neurodivergent advocates are seemingly too scared to bring up.

I have borderline traits, but I think I am doing very well in this journey. But I literally remember how certain circles of people affected me in the topic of my sexual identity (they were not bad people, still very good friends). I thought I am bisexual, but in some point I thought I am a gay man inside a female body, cuz I hanged out with a lot of gay boys, and I am a real tomboy in a very feminime body. After I left/limited those circles, and I realised these personality disorders often involved with unclear, unstable personality, identity, and meet a nice man, I realized I am totally heterosexual. BUT! I really love women as well, in the sense of telling them sweet things, and bringing them flowers. Their smile makes my heart melt, but that's it. The fact to have a sexual relationship/serious relationship with a woman makes me feel..., well yeah creeps me out or I dont know. I think this is my pure personality trait, probably because in my family we often bring flowers to females if we are visiting, no matter if you are a woman too. It's normal for me. Also I studied as a tailor, and I love beutiful female bodies, cuz dresses look nice on them. Also, I always wanted a cute lovely-dovely relationship with a boy, and since I had high expectations it's often didn't match with reality, so I think most woman are lack in these sweet minutes with guys, so I love to make them feel beautiful and cute. I think this is just my pure personality, what made me confused cuz my instabil identity, and cuz I was easily influanced by others because my foggy identity/personality. I think one of the most important thing in these personality disorders to find your core personality, and don't let others influance you. Since I realised this, I limited how much I am telling about my problems for other people. Cuz I know they usually can only talk about their experiences, maybe in a good or a bad way, but definietly not in my right way. That helped me so much in my stabil personality, in my decisions, believing I can choose my best choices, also in my relationships. But I am still open to conversations, just i know where are the boundaries between others opinion, and my feelings and rightness.

I wonder if this could also be attributed to the fact that more and more people are identifying as bisexual recently. I don’t remember where I saw the study but in the past 10 years more people are identifying as bisexual than any other sexuality (besides heterosexual which is always the highest) I feel like bisexuality could be an evolutionary trait. Obviously being bisexual opens up your options for romantic partners way more and leaves less room to end up alone. I also agree with the social chameleon thing so it could be a mix of both. Being able to have relationships with all genders is definitely a net gain for sociopaths seeking connection. Interesting video and I like the hair!

I mean at the same time you can CHOOSE which way to be and what to act on. I don't know why people even bother making a bunch of excuses for themselves and their behavior. Like I have a family history of alcoholism, that doesn't mean I didn't choose to drink or not to drink, and drinking heavily is still also wrong. >but there's nothing wrong with being queer in general with sociopathy there are multiple things wrong with it. Oh, she's right about that too come to think....antisocial types tend to be promiscuous and risky just generally. Idk why though. There's something really lonely and isolating and alienated to me about having sex with strangers that do not love you, so I imagine having sex with a narcissist "you were alone the whole time" must be one of the most psychologically damaging things ever. Like fr why don't you guys just admit that the Christians and Muslims were right about this topic all along: find a good person to marry and lose your virginity to wife or husband and have a family.

I had this idea in my mind that those with ASPD may be more likely to be bi, but then I figured my belief just came from consuming too much fiction where villains (who often display traits of ASPD) are bi-coded. Bisexuality is often equated to promiscuity, which is obviously seen by society as a bad thing. Therefore, if you make a villain bi, that makes them even more "morally bad" than if they’d just been straight. Maybe ASPD people aren’t necessarily more likey to be bi, they may just be less likely to deny that part of themselves than neurotypicals. Either way it’s an interesting discussion for sure.
@pandemicneetbux2110
@pandemicneetbux2110 Год назад
I mean there is a truth that tons of mental or other disorders and aberrations tend to be comorbid with each other, like there's no such thing as "just" being trans or "just" being narcissistic, or "just" being sexually promiscuous, usually it's a whole range of patterns of thinking and behavior. So if you find a person who's got a severe substance abuse problem, or a bad gambling habit with huge debts, or they're 600 lbs, you can be pretty much guaranteed they've got a whole associated range of other deviant behaviors. Although all that being stated, I think that sociopaths may also play it up for the exact reason of Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct--it's because there's something about sexual fluidity that is intensely attractive to neurotypicals and straight people, particularly among men. Like, I am pretty sure most naive guys had at one time thought about "how cool it would be to bang two chicks" which I'm sure they were also completely oblivious to the consequences (I had to tell one woman directly no because of this, the whole thing people forget is first of all, if she's a lesbian, she's not into you period, secondly there are some problems sometimes with people too masculine or too feminine and queer, and it's completely irrelevant for bis anyway because if you're in a committed relationship it's still cheating, it's still weird, you'd still not want to screw around even if your partner is ok with it etc.) So in other words, attractive which is something that socios can do to gain even more leverage and be even more enticing and intoxicating to their victims/targets if they're wanting to play with someone. Of course naturally if you are really into somebody then whether you like the same gender or not falls by the wayside, it's irrelevant and doesn't serve them much by you playing up that part of yourself you don't plan to be accessing anyway, regardless how well it works on Michael Douglas. I'm not sure that women find it attractive though.

About the 'no fear during close calls' you also mention, I also started thinking it is propably linked to ASPD because this year I was almost run by a car and I felt NO fear! I hope we can all be safe out there... especially we Sociopaths

Interesting theory! Further study would be required, but it’s still fascinating to think about. I have a Cluster C and not a Cluster B personality disorder, but I am also bisexual. I think my sexuality and my diagnoses are unrelated, but of course I can’t speak for everyone. I do want to add though that bisexuality doesn’t necessarily mean that someone has a higher than average sex drive. Grey/Demi bis exist. I tend to find only about 1/500 people truly alluring so while I'm not admitting jack shit on here, yeah I know what you mean. And I think it's just because people with antisocial traits do not give two shits about the society around them and so as a result they basically don't care about admitting to it and publicly embracing their own deviancies, whereas a more demure type of person, say, like a quiet Christian girl raised in a Conservative household, would certainly not even be willing to admit as much to herself, let alone acting on it publicly. But in fact it is my experience quite a few religious people are into things like bondage or are bisexual anyway, they just tend to have way more decorum than making a spectacle of themselves in the freak parade the way rainbow hair people tend to conduct themselves in such undignified way. So it doesn't even matter to me ultimately, because while I guess when I was drunk I'd have made out with anyone, the fact is I rarely ever approach women at all because I can probably count on both hands the number of times I ever have even thought about it and seen a woman who is truly so alluring, so sexy, so mysterious, has such a magnetism about her, that I'd proceed to bust all my own rules and actually approach a person to get involved in my life and myself become involved in theirs. It's annoying that bisexual stuff is so heavily sexualized tbh, that's probably another reason why it's been my experience most people don't heavily flaunt or advertise it. Mainly because you're still going to want to have a normal relationship, and it's closed, so anyone else doesn't matter, even though some people still do the whole hurrrr let's have a threesome thing.

Honestly, before I learnt about dark triad personality types. I dated a lot of male psychopaths, and every single time, I would find out down the track they were bisexual. I’m interested now to understand the correlation between these personality types and bisexuality, simply out of intellectual curiosity. At a guess, I’d say it’s maybe for a psychopath the lack of disgust, and having no real boundaries that could mean they could seek sexual satisfaction from literally anyone. I remember reading horror stories years back from women (who’d dated paths) saying they’d busted their ex’s two timing them with amputees or trans persons etc, so it could also be a drive to push the boundaries I guess
@pandemicneetbux2110
@pandemicneetbux2110 Год назад
Yeah I suppose that could actually be a pretty fair appraisal, I mean, everything from bdsm to using knives in the bedroom to fooling around with trans to getting high on crack cocaine and heroin, I guess people with antisocial traits it's not always they tend to push the boundaries as they just don't even care or are more oblivious to those boundaries. Well, that and like Anika said, their flat tone of voice matches the flatness of their jaded and cynical experience of reality, so they're immediately drawn to anything that makes things even more extreme. And plus I suspect there's something about the way sociopaths look at people and speak that is hypnotic, not sure why.

I have autism and adhd. Both groups are more likely to be gender non-confirming or multi sexual. A big part of this is that we tend not to perceive social rules so just do what we want. Maybe there is something similar with ASPD, but instead of not perceiving the rules, you just don’t care? Don’t know if there’s anything there but worth considering.

I’ve never thought about it this way but it’s very interesting! I know only one person who is diagnosed with a Cluster B disorder (BPD) and they happen to be bisexual as well. As for myself, I don’t have a personality disorder, but I do have a combination of other disorders which gives me traits associated with antisocial/sociopathy (e.g little emotional reaction/apathy, social chameleon). I also happen to be bisexual haha

I recently found out I have a form of DID. I'm highly empathic, but my other self is high functioning ASPD. We share the same memories, so I fluctuate between being a hypersensitive empath when I'm original me and being a sociopath when I'm her. It's extremely weird. I'm also bisexual. When in socio-mode when I was younger, I used sex for control over men (but not women) and have done so many ridiculously risky things I'm honestly impressed I'm alive. Both halves of me have always found both genders attractive. I've never fought that because my socio half makes it very hard for me to deny myself things if I can't find a strong logical reason to do so. My self control is ruled by logic and my empath side's strong morals. I think because of this, I have a hard time with the concept of sexuality-based identity. My bisexuality is like my eye color to me. It's just there. I despise being told I need to be "proud of my bisexuality" as it's got nothing to do with who I really am as a person. I also have ADHD, so I ramble a lot. 😆

Sam Vaknin talked a lot about Borderlines as secondary psychopaths, with one state as highly empathic and a second state where they can't control themselves and act unstoppably aggressive/impulsive. Could it be that you just have BPD? I'm asking because I know a person that fits exactly your description and want to know more about it

I don't get why people make such a big deal about sexual identity either. It's just there. I can if you are in a position to be persecuted, like you want to marry someone of the same sex, but normally what difference does it make?

this is so interesting! I’m bi and I have adhd and an anxiety disorder. For me it was a bit later on that i’ve thought about being bi, but I feel like the adhd spontaneity, interest in new/unconventional things (lol) etc. could probably play a part in that. I deal with gender questioning, and from what i see it seems like neurodivergence (esp adhd and autism?) is greatly correlated with being trans (esp non binary) in general so that’s also interesting.

Adhd and bisexuality has no co-relation what so ever. Just because you identify as bi and have adhd doesn’t mean anything. I have blue eyes and adhd. Does that mean a sh**? Nope. I have lots of adhd friend. They’re all just as straight as me. Adhd shouldn’t even be mentioned in this context to be honest. Not more than cancer or asthma. It’s disrespectful and totally BS.

I have C-PTSD and MDD and am bi. Thing is that I'm also what people label as "demisexual", AKA a picky queer. So I could potentially be attracted to anyone, but am interested in very few. How I experience attraction is weird and I have never sought validation through sexual encounters. A lot of my friends with BPD do and I understand that. The reasons I say people could place a label on me is that I am not quite sure if that is actually what I am, or if past trauma has made me extremely guarded. At the end of the day, we are who we are, and we can't undo our sexualities. Very interesting video, Kanika! I am not getting notifications despite having the bell turned on ugh. I hope you're well.

I concur with this. I'm female and diagnosed bipolar 2 with aspd traits. My significant relationships have been with men and one transgender, but if the opp had ever arose, I'd have a relationship with a female dom. At age 50, this is the first time I've really thought about or admitted this. Hmmm. I'm sounding like I just posted a personal ad. Not my intention here. Lol. In my late 30s and early 40s, I became a thrill seeker and hooked up with a handful of men who were 10 to 20 years younger than me. When I look back at this time, I shudder. this is so interesting!🧐 I don’t have any personality disorders (that I know of) but I AM very mentally ill (although it’s probably all just some autism lol) and also very bisexual, and I can totally see this theory being true. I feel like there’s probably a couple different flavors of queerness involved- as someone in another comment said, there’s a lot of trans/nonbinary ppl on the spectrum, and a lot of both bis and aces in the cluster b community, and my personal theory is that us and the asexuals are sides of the same coin… based mostly on the fact that several ppl Ive met that I would have clocked as bi were in fact ace and vice versa 😅 but I feel like there’s gotta be something there! personally, after much consideration I have also resigned myself to being genderfluid, which sometimes feels like an extension of being bi and sometimes doesn’t, and sometimes being bi feels like an extension of being autistic. like how a lot of autistic ppl say they don’t really intuit social conventions and find a lot of them irrational and confusing, that’s kinda how I feel about gender- I’m not really programmed to care about it when it comes to finding people interesting, and I find it a weird thing to get hung up on, yknow? I almost wonder if since both autistic and npd/aspd ppl sometimes report missing some amount of social intuition, that has the side effect (or rather, added bonus 😏) of making us partially immune to gender bullsh!t and more likely to be queer… idk if that actually makes sense or if I’m just sleep deprived. anyway. thank you for making this video!! this was really a really interesting and insightful perspective, and adds credence to my other theory, which is that all the smartest, hottest, coolest, and most interesting people are bisexuals. 😎 keep being amazing!! and happy pride month! 💜

This is fascinating. I bet this really has to do with the lack of guilt & shame and, thus, inhibitions, allowing people to try new things without hesitation and regret. I bet most of society would be bisexual if not for social stigma and religious edicts. Some of my friends have hypothesized that being bi is a matter of having an open mind, which could certainly be the case for some bi people. I also wouldn't be surprised if thrill-seeking drove this behavior.

Before discovering your channel, I read and watched a lot about mental disorders and people's experiences with them. I always found ways in which I could relate to them in some area or another. ASPD and NPD were outside that realm because they were always portrayed as "evil traits" and "planned manipulation." They felt like they were outside the realm of mental health, and almost inhuman. Clinical sexologist Dr. James Cantor talks about how neurodiversity and alternative sexualities tend to overlap. He’s also noticed in his research that autism, gender nonconformity/transsexualism, and kink tend to overlap and as a transman who spent some time in bdsm communities I found this to be true. They haven’t found a causal link for all this but there’s a-lot of correlates that relate to pre-natal hormones and maternal immune responses that contribute to neurodiversity and a wide range of gender identities/sexualities. Fascinating stuff I’m curious to know how it relates with cluster b as well. I also went to art school and all of us were queer, creative, kinky, neurodivergent weirdos.

Hi, I'm diagnosed BPD but I feel that I could be misdiagnosed ASPD. Two things stood out to me in this video. A0 Do you think it's possible that I could have been misdiagnosed because I have both ASPD and schizoaffective bipolar type? Because I do have strong emotions at times, more often it would seem than most ASPDs although they are also pretty short lived. So I was thinking maybe they mix in a weird way that makes me present differently? Secondly, I'm pansexual (splitting hairs, kind of) and I did have a huge sex drive before my super bad sexual trauma. But I think ASPDs are probably, because of the risky thing, pretty kinky as a rule and I relate, with some seriously dark dangerous kinks. These correlations are neat to observe. DISCLAIMER: I'm not self diagnosing. I'm just suspecting this and seeing a second opinion soon.
