Are Boomerangs Lethal? 

Seriously, how has this channel not blown up? It's lowkey like old school Mythbusters.

There is a reason why the Boomerang became such a reliable weapon for the people that inhabited Australia long before europeans came along. Something that big and heavy flying at that speed wielded by a skilled hunter can be absolutely devastating to anything on the wrong end of the throwing stick.

I knew a guy who threw a boomerang. It didn't come back. Now he lives in constant fear.

The Australian" Boomerang" is just another form of the native American rabbit stick. Almost the same design they were ment to be used as a hunting weapon that when thrown would travel in a straight line just above the ground for a hundred yards or more. They killed with blunt force. However the Australians also had a returning boomerang which would have been given a different name in any of the fifty different aboriginal languages. We can thank Captain Cook for the name boomerang. Some say that the returning types of boomerangs were only used to knock down a bird or two when thrown into a large group of flushed bird's. So if you missed. At least you're boomerang would come back somewhat close to you. Saving you from having to go a hundred yards or more to hunt for it and retrieve it. Where as the hunting boomerang or rabbit stick, was designed like a modern day airfoil, like the wing of a modern day plane. That would sustain a stable height and travel for a long ways before falling. These were ment to take small to moderate sized game animals. Thrown at a kangaroo or whitetail deer with luck would break it's leg (s) and give the hunter the chance to run it down and kill it with a spear, knife, or a Swift blow to the head with a heavy object.

I absolutely love how unsure Chris looked when he took the boomerang and went to hit the cinder block with it at 0:30, only to instantly regret it as he shakes his hand in pain XD.

The Lil Lil is a way better weapon, such as the Wedge War Club from Throwsticks. That West Australia styled boomerang is not balanced for impacts in hand to hand use.

The idea is to have it flying, hit & lethal damage, get back to our palm

Australian here, what you have there is a returning boomerang, it is a toy based on a weapon for hunting flocks of birds. The only time you want a boomerang coming back to you. Real boomerangs, for hunting kangaroos and emus are much bigger, have 2 distinct sides, and don't return... if it can kill or injure a kangaroo at distance, trust me, you do not want it coming back to you. Aboriginals also have an even large boomerang, which is made for war

Boomerangs are made of wood, you have a toy boomerang. Boomerangs that are used for hunting are different than the boomerangs that come back to you. But at least you uploaded the video in National Reconciliation Week in Australia.

You're throwing a rabbit stick. A boomerang meant for a man would be heavier and larger. It'll break bones.

So this guys trys throwing a boomerang for 10 mins and says ya I think its less up to skill and more about luck... Yet historians and researchers site cultures using this as a hunting device for over 20,000 years. Try depending on that boomerang/rabbit-stick to live then watch yourself decapitate a goose from 50 yards away.

Why are all youtubers doin shorter and shorter vids and longer ads? 17% of this vid is an ad. Eventually all youtubers will do nothing but 20sec shorts that have a 5min ad at the beginning and the end. You wear a shirt that says "do good". If you really wanna do good you'd put your ad at the end of the vid where it belongs. People are gona skip past it either way so you might as well put it at the end where it wont piss people off because you put a 1min ad at the beginning of a tiny 6min video
