What you described about politicians was something I had never thought about. It was quite revelatory! I’m in agreement with your thoughts on the matter after thinking about it for awhile. Yours was an exceptionally good interpretation of the facts!
@Luis You asked about helpful books in evangelism. While it isn't a theology book, Greg Koukl's book called "Tactics: A Game Plan for Discussing your Christian Convictions" was a great help to me in learning to interact with others in our modern age. It, along with David's suggestions, would do you well. I haven't read, but intend to soon read, Norman Geisler's two books "When Skeptics Ask" and "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist". I hope those help.
Romans 13:1 - Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God [granted by His permission and sanction], and those which exist have been put in place by God (that would include that progressive Gov. Newsom). Do we only follow this precept if Christians determine they're being treated fairly? Anyone can follow precepts of the Bible if, in so doing, they are being treated good and fairly.
In regards to your Exodus videos. If The Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years (Ex 12:40) and oppressed as slaves for 400 (Act 7:6) Wouldnt Joseph still be alive being within 30 years they became slaves? If It is so maby the pharaoh didnt know him because he could have been Assyrian (Kjv Isaiah 52:4) Or how can I understand the 400 year oppression if they were there for 430 years? Maybe this is a season where, we the church, could actually show our government leaders what value and blessing we are to our communities. Or not. If the church demands its rights what’s to stop every other closed operation demanding their’s. The natural man doesn’t understand the things of the Spirit. 1. Maybe if the church employed half the city. 2. Maybe if the church did so much outside ministry that it was undeniable missed by the community. 3. Had born again Christians as its government leaders. I think there’s a little too much Fox News in the California Christian world view these days. God bless you David, it can’t be easy to be a pastor during covid 19 and in a highly liberal state. What about Christians (assuming that they are) abusing their fellow Christians (assuming that they are)? David, maybe you should examine this inside of wringing your hands about the world.
