Quick disclaimer: I actually do watch or used to watch some of the creators in the prologue, I have no issue with them (except one who turned out to be an awful person), just their sponsor. Also, please do not seek out individuals in this video, or send hate to any creators that do promote Hello Fresh. They might not be aware of the negative side of the company. A good example is I wasn't aware, and I research unethical businesses for fun.
iiluminaughtii. Idk if you’ve been following that whole saga but if you haven’t there are so many great videos. Cruel World Happy Mind, tehmini (I think that’s how their channel is spelled) and Swoop made full blown deep dives into the situation. This situation goes beyond just normal RU-vid drama. It’s very disappointing given Blair was such a huge channel and did bring a lot of scams to light.
@@monicahayworth Oh, YES. What she did to CWHM originally caused me to unsubscribe, and after tehmimi I blocked her channel. Hearing everything that’s happened now, I was SHOCKED at just how BAD she was and is. She’s a dangerous person IMO. Swoops docuseries on it has been incredible.
@@caffeinatedangelI stopped watching her when she basically stole the work of Alanda's video on the wine MLM. Also, she just rubbed me wrong; I'm not sure how else to put it.
This was a great video! I have eaten hello fresh in the past (never been sponsored by them though) and I also LOVED those firecracker meatballs! But holy crap that employee treatment is awful
Hi, I worked in a hello fresh/factor facility and it was dreadful. It’s either hot and wet, or be dry and frigid in other parts. You’re expected to work non stop if you’re on 8 hour shifts, and get two fifteen minute breaks if you’re working 10+ The forklift and other machinery drivers expect for the halls to be clear but don’t double check if they are. My boss was kind but the other workers were very cold. Understandably so, but ANY rule that wasn’t followed to the letter could mean punishment or termination on the spot. Awful. Please don’t support hello fresh
@@laurasc84366 the conditions were not good is what I’m trying to say, and the dangers of working there were not made clear to anyone until you started working there. It was a dangerous job that was not compensated well
My husband and I recently cancelled our Green Chef which is associated with Hello Fresh and it was a Nightmare to cancel. So many hoops to jump through. Our Ingredients were also poor quality or missing. Now I just plan my meals and still have the food delivered with Misfits Market and make the meals myself.
I truly did not know about any of this up until that video by Fab Socialism popped up on my recommended. I had to watch it because I’ve used the service before and so many creators are sponsored by them. I have no issues with creators having sponsors because get that coin, but I didn’t know this about hello fresh.
I've been using HF lately and it has really helped get us out of the meal planning rut we were in and now I feel bad for it. Also "free breakfast for life, my butt" is extremely accurate. It's 2 servings of a singular breakfast item each week.
Meal planning is a skill that needs to be learned and worked on. Once you're good at meal planning you learn to look at ingredients that might be in bulk (like carrots) and know how to use them in multiple meals. I feel like you can meal plan meals at a cheaper cost to you than a meal kit. I tried a meal kit service in 2013 (Blue Apron) and it was a "meh" for me.
I used to be really good at meal planning but lately it’s been very hard to do anything like that but I do agree that it’s a skill that needs to be learned.
@@monicahayworth sometimes I get into a food funk and it's so hard to meal plan when everything seems unappealing or when you have a really busy week. I definitely think it's an important skill kids need to learn though. If you can meal plan 80-90% of the time you'll save money in the long run for sure.
My version of meal planning is a meat, a vegetable and a healthy carb. So chicken and potatoes . Steak and eggs with peas. Savoury oats with egg and tomatoes. I like to keep things very boring and simple.
@@leeannspencer2952 I taught myself how to meal plan when I became a SAHM and it definitely took me some time to find a rhythm. My husband had to travel for work and Jimmy John's definitely saved me with their $5 sandwiches and delivery that first year! Hang in there, it gets better ❤️
i have never been able to bring myself to use these food delivery services because they’re SO much more expensive than my grocery shopping i already do, i can feed myself fully for $50-70 a week with extras like coffee and sodas… these make zero financial sense to me so i can’t even speak on the experience.
I think cost efficiency is very dependent on where a person lives, how many people are using the service, and one’s income. If you’re located near a store that sells good quality food at decent prices, the meal kit might easily cost more than a typical grocery store trip.
Also, if i was being offered sponsorship by any company like hello fresh, id get my mum to order something just to see how they'd treat a regular customer,if everything came fresh, if they got the order on time ect
I had hello fresh for a bit. I liked it but then the price increased. The food started coming bad and delivered late. If you need to cancel; it’s extremely difficult. Great video ❤
I tried Hello Fresh about 4-5 years ago when I was living in Los Angeles. I had to stop the subscription because so many of the vegetables came rotten or at least very old and on the verge of rotting. I'm not shocked to hear the other things behind the scenes. An ethical company would not send out so much bad food.
I absolutely love the idea of a meal kit service… buuut (big but) we are a family of 8 depending on who is home (2 parents and kids both younger and older). No meal kit service would ever make sense for us - I honestly wished before this that we could try Hello Fresh. Now I’m glad we didn’t!
Thank goodness someone is covering this. Their pricing is SO shady, we got way overcharged and the coupon terms are intentionally impossible to find. You can't even figure out what you're actually paying until you finish ordering.
Yea at first I thought it was 16 free meals up front but then I saw the price and figured out the free meals were spread out but we said screw it we’ve been wanting to try it anyway.
Wow, I tried Hello Fresh ages ago (back when they gave completely free boxes) and I enjoyed it then…but that was before everything went to 💩, apparently. But yikes, how they treat employees makes me 100% certain I won’t go back!
We have HF for quite some time, as my husband learned to cook with their recipes. He needed the step-by-step explanations, and I didn't want to take the mental load to teach him. I pick the meals once a month. Our meals mostly come correctly, and we almost never have rotten food. But we're in Germany with much better labour laws and everything. Maybe the German branch is better?!
The value of HelloFresh has always been questionable to me. The employee treatment information makes me dislike them greatly. I wish more people knew how to make food from canned beans/veg and frozen veg/fruit/seafood. It is so much easier for cheap, lazy cooks who do not want waste. I rarely plan and always can get food together quickly-chili, stew, stir-fry, baked fish, burrito bowls, pasta and more with minimal effort.
@@india1422 I agree. I do think a lot of people who have fallen for meal kits are victims of the way food gets framed narrowly in the US, stigmatizing minimally processed frozen/canned goods as less than fresh,. More people should know frozen veg/fruit is often more nutritious than fresh. For those who want fresh for texture, I get it, but the effort level for many recipes might not need to increase for the majority of ingredients you are adding
I used HF for around 18 months. I did find that it encourages cooking for me, that the cooking process was simple and fun, and that the resulting meals were good. I don’t think it’s a saving versus grocery shopping, but I didn’t expect that. I had a couple of frustrations and eventually got a bit tired of it and cancelled but would be open to trying it again down the road.
That's how my first amd only factory job was back when I was 19 (so, like 2001). They held a whole shift meeting for EACH shift to frighten us into voting against the union. I didn't know anything back then, but I do now, and it grosses me out.
This is great I'm glad it's getting more attention. I watched an amazing video months ago and no one talked about it and it seemed hello fresh and its other companies got more ads
Once we were done with the free 16 meals that was it for us. It was great in the beginning but then the meals became repetitive and everything g has zucchini in it 🤣 I’m not a huge zucchini fan. Then I found all of this out.
I didn't expect to like it when we tried it, 3 years later we still use it. It saves me money because I don't go shopping as often and therefore don't buy impulse buys I don't need. It also keeps us out of a food rut. It's great to not have to think every day about what to make for dinner. We have learned some new cooking techniques and it helped us teach our daughter to cook. We do only get it every other week since we make 2-3 hello fresh dinners a week, not 4-5. We love it.
One reason we tried it was so we didn’t have to think about dinners and we could try new things. It didn’t save us money in the end but I also ordered groceries for pick up or delivery so I don’t see the extra stuff to impulse buy. I’m glad that it has helped you though.
Not related, but just found out from some digging ( because mlms don't disclose themselves) that my boyfriends Aunt lost weight with Optavia, and she told people to pm her. I think she is coaching. Ugh I hate it. I just needed to rant. I am proud of her for losing weight, but Optavia is awful..
Ughhhh that’s horrible. Isn’t optavia the one where the people who use it are basically starving themselves by the little amount of calories they’re eating?
I tried it for a week so my friend could get a referral discount (I think this was 2020). I saw the sheer amount of plastic in my box and how small their portions are ("4 servings" was more like 1.5 meals because I eat a lot due to having an active job) and never did it again.
This was very eye opening. We were considering trying them out, but now we will think twice. I think this was a fair critique of the company as you understood that if certain information couldn't be verified to take it with a grain of salt like the employee handing out fliers or the monkey labor. Some companies have a zero tolerance policy for certain behavior, and maybe passing out fliers about unionizing was something they had zero tolerance for. Most companies are employ at will companies, and they can fire you for any reason, granted it wasn't due to discrimination or anything unethical. I seriously doubt that employee was demoted because their English wasn't good because if that was the case, they never would've gotten that position to begin with. If it was for handing out fliers, then they should've just been honest. I can't remember if you said they were demoted or fired. I can understand that certain positions may require that the employee speak very clear English depending on their responsibilities. For example, my husband does landscaping and he is bilingual and when he worked for other companies he always got promoted to a supervisor positionfiast, and one reason was that he is bilingual because the supervisors have to talk directly to the customers everyday so they have to be able to communicate with them, but again, I don't think that's why they got demoted either. If the monkey labor accusations are true, then that's terrible. The difference between that and police dogs is 1. Dogs love to be with people, and they want to please their caretaker and 2. Like you said, many breeds are working dogs, and they need a job to do. Monkeys do not prefer the company of humans to other monkeys, and they could care less if they please us. Even if the accusations about the monkeys and employee treatment aren't true, your experience and the recent reviews are enough for me to decide to pass them up. A lot of RU-vidrs I like are sponsored by them, and maybe they don't know. It's definitely not information that's as well known as say the unethical practices of Temu and Temu is making the problem of massive over consumerism so much worse because of the greedy RU-vidrs that promote them and do these massive hauls with junk they don't need. I'm definitely not a minimalist, but we live in a 30-foot converted shuttle bus, so we can't have much . I absolutely love shopping and getting new things at a great price just like the next person, but living a simpler life has shown me how little I really need to be happy and survive. Anyway, that's not what your video was about, but it was definitely very informative, and I'm glad I'm more educated about this company now.
And that makes me so sad. I know that’s how a lot of creators make their living because Adsense is hit or miss and if something gets demonetized, forget it. I’ve had videos get demonetized and I have no idea why. I think I also had a video pop up a while back about scentbird’s ceo. I’ll have to look into it more. I’m sure you’re not the only one who thinks this way though.
I really like hello fresh and home chef but I only have gotten them when I’ve had massive discounts available. I do not personally think it’s affordable cause I still need lunch food (remember no leftovers) and my husband and I don’t always want the same thing to eat :he eats large portions so I’d have to get the meals for 4 instead of 2, which would give me leftovers but it’s more expensive. I loved the meals, recipes, ingredients all there. I get why they can’t make it super cheap but regularly it’s not in my price range. I personally disagreed with claims that say it’s cheaper than grocery shopping, plus if you think about it you’re only getting the portion you need for one meal whereas with groceries you’re getting more than one meals worth typically.
I've never tried them. Maybe if I get a GPT offer on one of my sites that are good. I have tried Factory 75. I really liked them but the bad thing was the prices were expensive. I loved that I only had to microwave the food as it was already fully cooked. Yes you said the lady's name right. 👍🏼
even in todays digital age, negative will always travel and have a bigger pool compared to positive, when you look at reviews a lot of the time the positive reviews are short and might be one word sentences while negative reviews will often be bigger, more in depth and detailed. It's why word of mouth is such a double edged sword when it comes to marketing. As for HF, I wouldn't buy any of these meal delivery order things, just order your shit from whatever store you would normally buy from and buy a cook book, close your eyes and open a page bam that's your dinner.
I think you should’ve left the snoring in lol I don’t think anyone would care and if anything I think it’s be so cute! My favorite yoga teacher teaches his class with his dog and the snoring is actually really relaxing lol ❤
Hmm I live in Canada and just started getting Hello Fresh but only on weeks when I can afford it because I do consider it a luxury and the whole thing was a great experience for the reasons mentioned in the positive reviews. I wonder if packing centre make a difference. One of my boxes was a day late because of a snow storm and the communication was great. Haven’t got to the employee miss treatment yet so interested to hear more about that.
I think the "can't afford the products they make" is a bit silly. Hello fresh is kind of a luxury service by the means of convenience. All workers can likely afford one meal delivery service weekly. It's like someone working at Volkswagen assembly. They might be able to afford an entry Jetta but they won't be able to afford the Atlas.
That’s a good point to make. I’d say that a hello fresh kit is a bit different from being able to afford a car though. For me it’s more that these people are getting injured on the job and they can’t afford one box which could be less than $100 pre employee discount. I know injuries happen at more than just hello fresh, it just seems from the claims that it’s excessive and a bit of a problem.
I had hello fresh for a while then two boxes that got paid for never arrived in a row, called to get a refund, got it, cancelled my subscription, had three un-notified transactions taken out of my bank account, i called again to get refunded for that and get my subscription cancelled again
I am a legal assistant for a California employment law firm. I am glad there is no union, because I have yet to see one case where the union has done anything to help the employees. And the worst part is that because there's a union, we no longer can help them with their claims as they have to go through the grievance with the union. It's terrible. They have a better chance of getting help with no union and hiring a good law firm
Unions are amazing when they have a president behind them that actually cares. I watched my union at my job go from being useless because we had a corrupt president to a family that fought alongside us every step of the way. We almost went on strike last year and our president was marching with us at every info picket and made sure we kept going even after having the cops called on us. We went from .25¢ raises to dollars. Just wanted to give my experience because good unions do exist. They are finally coming back and as they get popular again, we will see a large emphasis on genuine union leadership.
@@FrauStormm I sure hope so! I see so many pregnancy and sexual orientation discrimination cases on a weekly basis that we can't assist on because the Potential Client is part of a union and it breaks my heart
Hello fresh and better help are RU-vid’s most nefarious advertising. I see them all the time and I don’t understand. Like I get it RU-vidrs need to earn money too. But they’re plenty of companies that don’t suck as bad at these. If you want fresh ingredients with less packaging go to your local farmers market and my local farmers market takes food stamps as well. it just makes more sense to go get local fresh ingredients if you want to reduce your carbon footprint in that way.
That’s a great suggestion and I completely forgot you can do that. That’s what my family would do (they’re Polish) but I didn’t have time for it to sit for a few hours when I was working a traditional job. I normally just throw a bunch of veggies in for my chicken noodle soup.
I didn’t say its not likely to happen. I know it does happen in a lot of businesses. For me it’s a little shocking that I specifically didn’t know about Hello Fresh especially given that so many people are sponsored by them.
I don’t know? There’s nothing in my held for review folder. Sometimes RU-vid deletes comments automatically if they deem them offensive from what I’ve been told. Idk how true that is though.
This all looks and sounds like ai.I really enjoy watching real people and listening to real language. This sounds stilted, and could be made by anyone. Please go back to your old format,AI is just creepy.
Thanks for the feedback. This isn’t AI. I had to do a voiceover with stock broll. Unfortunately with a toddler it’s hard to film and we don’t show her face on the internet (which obviously means I don’t want her on screen) so I had to do this late at night when everyone was asleep.
