literally collab of the dreams, so happy to see you two together :) even just the first minute is already a blast! a quick edit after finishing: thanks for the smile and the laughs, to the tears this was hilarious and my face hurts now, can't stop smiling lol
It was over the doctor reacts to medical shows series. Dr. Hope started it and it was successful, so Doctor Mike followed suit because it was an integral time for him building his channel. Dr. Hope asked for Mike to credit him in the reaction idea series and I think Mike blocked him. I’m glad it’s over though.
@@cannsmith yes, it was rather silly as "*profession* react" shows had been going on for a while, but it's an understandable mistake to make. I am so glad to see them collab at last :)
@@cannsmith I thought it was collaboration, not credit asked for, because Dr Hope admitted he could have just had the same idea and not realised he'd already started those videos.
@@cannsmith Dr. Mike talked about it on the podcast they referenced at the beginning of the video, but he did it on a recommendation from one of his coworkers with his business they were trying to start. Once the video blew up, he got hate mail from a lot of other youtubers and/or people about it thinking that he copied other youtubers (like Dr. Hope) when he really just made a video that hit the algorithm. Mike didn't "steal" anything of anyone's since there's really only so many ways to become big in RU-vid, and they just happened to be two significant youtubers in the same space doing the same thing and no one copied anything. Dr. Hope also said during that podcast that he had made the video about Dr. Mike taking ideas from his videos to stop whatever "beef" was going on, but it just served to the opposite of what he had intended.
Dr hope has such a sweet heart. Every one of his videos are so sweet. Qhen he was vlogging during xovid it broke my heart to hear how it was behind the scenes at hospitals.
Hugh Laurie's father was a physician so he grew up around medicine, and is a Cambridge grad so he's been exposed to some level of the scientific method. He would've been a fairly good medical doctor… (PS. His father was also an Olympic Gold medalist, so clearly an overachiever…)
I think I would have put Huge Laurie a bit higher then half only because not only has he read many scripts on house his dad was also a physician and probably grew up hearing and learning about a lot of medical related things.
I'm so so glad this happened. Was very very interested in the video on Dr. Mike's channel, was interesting to hear positives and negatives of us and the US, glad there's no actual issue with my 2 favourite RU-vid doctors!
I was shocked when I saw Huge Laurie on The Graham Norton Show and he was speaking with a British accent. We never missed a show of House. Huge Laurie is a very versed actor.
Admittedly, I dont watch a lot of your content, I am subbed but havent watched a video in years. I remember you and Dr Mike had a little back and forth many years ago and it makes me happy to see that you collab like this. The online space need more collab and wholesomeness, and less fighting. Loved this video as well. I own Wavelength but have only played it once, will definitely dust it off after this video.
😂😂😂😂 I Remember the Beef. I even remember unsubscribring to Dr Mike because of it. I felt personal attacked on your behalf... Let's just say I was unemployed at the time and spending way too much time on RU-vid. Glad you sorted it now though.
Hugh Laurie went to Cambridge to study anthropology, is the son of a doctor, was best friends with Stephen Fry for decades, and is damn smart. They did him dirty 😢
3:14 as someone with Crohn's disease who has spent 6 weeks in hospital, bowel pain and the accompanying complications (ie abscesses) are far more painful than people realise. So thankful for the NHS.
As far as the most painful thing imaginable, I gotta say bowels. I had a testicle that swelled to the size of a lemon and I walked to the hospital. Because of my medical stuff I have fecal impaction and it's literally so hard sometimes I have to use tools to "pinch it off". And when that stuff makes a 90* turn on my large intestine, it puts me on my knees. I have to remember to breathe. So yeah. Hangover pain level 3. Testicular torsion pain 5. Lemon-size testicle pain 8. Fecal impaction pain 10.
I am glad you two did a collab together after (idk few years since that tiny internet "war" you two are men of medical science! to make the world a better place! who cares if one is "copying" the other... both are great doctors and youtubers! I could be honor if I was a patient for either of yous! thou granted.. I kinda prefer hope's videos little more then mike's (yes Im american which,... has nothing to do with anything lol) but just entertainment... I dont take any "medical" from these- just both makes my day better in personal matter. in fact will close this comment with I wouldn't have come across Dr. Hope's channel if I haven't come across mike's channel first!
2:15 I had a fractured hand, and surprisingly enough it wasn't the worst pain I ever had (that goes to a head injury I had when I was a kid). More of a dull ache because the endorphins were probably going nuts. What did happen after I got it treated and the K-wires were removed, I couldn't shake hands for like 5 years, a firm handshake was extremely painful.
Must admit, I learned about you from Dr Mike (as an American) but was so enthralled by the debate/conversation on his channel that I had to come and subscribe here as well! I don't know anything about beef, but this was a buffet of content that I thoroughly enjoyed!
Lol Dr Hope ALMOST pulled him up on the 'drop the accent' thing. Even Hugh Laurie finds that phrase a little irritating. All good fun though. Great video.
I have been waiting for this collaboration! I was watching you both before Dr. Mike got very known in social media. But I stayed for Dr. Hope because of all the med analysis on movies and anime you've done haha
I’ve been under a rock. Had no idea there was beef or who you were. I’m glad I watched Dr. Mike’s video because now I have two awesome doctors to subscribe to. 😊 this was a fun video!
3:15 "Bowel stuff is really bad." - Yeah you have that right! Proctalgia Fugax is EXTREMELY painful! I once FAINTED from the pain!!! My specialist prescribed Salbutamol puffer and it works relatively fast compared to riding out the attack.
I follow Dr Mike and "discovered" you on the joint Podcast you did together. It's great to have a Social media doctor from the same country as me.. Hiya 👋 New subscriber here.
The worst pain is severe burns. I suffered 12 different gallstone attacks before finally having my gallbladder removed (and only then because the final attack was causing pancreatitis, which is what sent me to the ER). I also, at a different point, suffered 3rd degree burns to just under 15% of body surface. The pain of the gallstones, while indeed horrible, wasn't even *comparable* to the pain of the burns. People say you're supposed to feel third degree burns *less* because of the damage to nerve endings. That what you're feeling is just the 2nd degree burns to the surrounding tissue. They're wrong. I'd suffered 2nd degree burns before, that was *not* the same level of pain. The pain of 3rd degree burns was indescribable. It was unimaginably awful. And it just went on, and on. *Burns* are the worst pain.
I never knew you two had beef, love both your content. Would love to one day see a colab of all my fave RU-vid drs, medlife, Bernard (chubbyemu ) you guys. Rena Malik. Eliot McCarthy
I’ve been a Subscriber of Dr. Mike’s going back to right before he started watching medical dramas and breaking them down. I had never watched Dr. Hope before I watched the two videos he and Dr. Mike did together. I absolutely fell in love with his personality, he seems to be an amazing person and doctor! (he is also very good looking and that English accent is hot ☺️) I just Subscribed to Dr. Hope’s channel and I hope to see more collabs with him and Dr. Mike! Love from Texas ♥️🤠🌴
A fun thing about kidney stones : my mom lost her left kidney because a massive stone -literally the size of the organ- killed it over time. It took years, seeing the size of the thing, definitely didn't happen overnight. But she never felt anything. No pain, no discomfort, nothing. She only learnt about it because of a PET scan that revealed a nearly interrupted kidney activity and well, yeah, further exams revealed that's why. 😶 But every single doctors, and even people who did have kidney stones, can't understand why she never felt it because it normally is very painful and that's how you can act upon it.
