Exactly bro! I collect ex, lvx and bw full art/shinies in psa 9's because they are genuinely worth the price. More time a pack fresh card from those 3 eras doesn't even grade a 9, but instead grades an 8. And a pack from those eras can be 2x-5x the price of a hit in a psa 9 depending on the hit and set.

Completely agree man! I’ve personally pulled middle era cards that graded an 8! So, I definitely think 9s are a great deal for sure and is an average/above average pack fresh card. I also think many 10s share many of the same flaws as 9s so I don’t think those cards can regrade a 10 if I sent it in again. Thanks for checking out the video! Appreciate it :)

Nothing wrong with graded mint 9's or gem mint 9.5's. You can find some amazing cards which are most of the time pack fresh or close to pack fresh which may have the smallest of flaws. Hell even 8s and 8.5s usually its only small flaws like micro scratches, a minor blemish or something like centering which held the card back from a 9, 9.5 or a 10. Some cards are next to impossible to get a high grade with due to how they were distributed or printed. Great video! I tend to look at the card in the slab and make my own judgement of it. The grade on the label is just a graders opinion at the end of the day.

Thanks for checking out the video! I completely agree with you. For the cards I’m really interested in (middle era), their print quality isn’t the best coupled with the fact that there’s so much holo on the card (silver borders) make it extremely hard to grade. Hence, getting a 9 feels like a really good deal. Even the 10s seem to have a lot of the same flaws and I’m not super confident in the grade reproducibility as well (ie resubmitting the card will likely not yield a 10)

great video, I personally agree with a lot of your opinions. I just wish it was easy to put the slabs in a binder compared to sleeves as they look great in binders

Thank you as always! That’s a good point. I do really like the aesthetic of cards of similar types lined up in a binder page. I believe they do PSA binder pages for 3 ring binders but it still doesn’t look as good as I think it’s only a 2x2 format. Appreciate the comment :)

Psa carda in a big case on the wall do look awesome though but thats commitment

That’s true but I guess it’s just still not as easily displayable as a binder. But I think I might give that a try! Thanks for the suggestion

Are Pokémon cards worth grading my opinion the WOTC sets early Japanese sets, no rarity, rare gold star cards and anything pre modern day that is hard to find
@TCGCollector
@TCGCollector 4 месяца назад
Thanks for your comment. I do agree that the rarer cards are generally more worth to grade since the value of the card is more attributed to the rarity of the card. However, additional considerations I have are whether you want to grade for collecting or to increase the card value for reselling. Sometimes the lower grades might not yield too high of a resell price especially when taking shipping, grading fees, and insurance into consideration compared to the raw price. If it's for your own collection, I do like to preserve the condition and the authentication is a bonus. But yes, generally I would also grade those type of cards even if the grade is lower.

what if someone sends in a good counterfeit ❓

I think for the most part, grading companies can detect it. What grading companies seem to struggle with is “altered cards” where people seemed to be able to submit cards after a chemical treatment to remove holo scratches.

TLDR: NM listed online are not always NM, just buy PSA 8/9

11:28 seller sure has delusions of grandeur listing that as nm. I’d call it thrash mint and give him goat turd for it
@TCGCollector

Haha, yeah I would never list a card like that. There were times my card would come out of the tin/pack like that but I still wouldn’t ever call it NM
