Thanks man - appreciate the kind words. Just my opinion as I knew a lot of people may have different perspectives but I thought I would share my not so popular opinion as well. I think 9s are really good for collectors-investors if that makes sense. Appreciate you for checking out the video!
Thanks! If you are local (metro Van), there are these monthly card shows called "Bossa card show" where they run out of Bonsor and sometimes at the Langley Events Centre. This specific video was at a Toy and Comic show which I think only happens annually if I'm not mistaken
Sorry for the late reply but yes, that are definitely on my radar. I think they are gorgeous cards with a limited print run. Also love the silver borders. However, I'm currently just focused more on Lv.X and ex cards as those are cards I grew up with. Do you collect them?
It depends on the type of sport card. I would google the name of the brand that you are collecting. Usually it will be thicker than Pokémon cards but I’m not sure the exact dimensions.
No hard feelings.. But I only collect PSA 9 for Vintage card because PSA 10 cost wayyy tooo expensive. But I have friends keep encourage me to get a 10 because it can determine the value if I met any urgent stuff that requires me to .. "sell it for easy cash".
No worries at all. We are all allowed to have our own opinions! Yeah for sure, the 9s I find good value especially in more vintage stuff. For the 10s, I think depending on the card it may be a lot more easier to sell. However, at the same time, the price you pay may be quite a bit lower for the arguments you just provided (more people want 10s than 9s). I think mainly the cards I buy are for my personal collection so I don’t think I would be selling it in the near future.
I’m in Canada so it’s about $0.92 for the stamp. Then after factoring in the envelope, top loader, paper, the costs is near maybe $1.25? Keep in mind eBay will also take a cut of that $1.5 so the amount you actually get will be ~85% of $1.5.
Do you have any go to card stores that sell lots of single cards? I’m looking for gold star cards but I cant seem to find anywhere around the Vancouver-Burnaby area.
Hmm I really like Everything J&J, treasure chest games, Wiser’s collectibles. They seem to have pretty good raw cards and I’ve seen gold stars there before!
nice collection bro, i do/think exactly the same about collecting 10s, but honestly 9 isnt even worth it either, my whole collection is psa 8s. cuz the difference isnt even that much from 8/9/10. I collect from nostalgia and i like to look at them but 10s are just overkill, 8 are just fine. Also if price of pokemoncards drop in the future holding only 10s will kill your bank.
It’s called the bossa show. Smaller ones happen monthly at Bonsor in Burnaby but the larger shows (shown in the video) happens once every 3 or 6 months ?
Sorry for the late response. Yes, it only requires one stamp! It should also say the postal rate online and what the weight cut off is. So I believe Canada post will able to ship if its <30g per envelope.
Basically any game store. Or eBay and Amazon would be your best bet too. Have affiliate links in the description if you do want to purchase them :). Thanks for checking out the video!
dang there was a bunch of cards in this video I would love to add to my collection I 100% agree that seeing a card in person, can give you a totally new perspective on that card, and so that's a big advantage of being able to see it & hold it before buying it. I never judge a card by the stock photo online, I always try to get images of it at different angles, or a video of somebody showing it off. Also I forgot those cards at 7:22 existed. I gotta look into those again
Yeah honestly, I think the biggest thing I noticed was how nice some of those Japanese cards looked - especially their holo patterns compared to English. Just always a blast to see all the different cards at one place as it feels like I’m almost at museum while looking at some of the older cards. And yeah those cards are pretty cool to see haha. Thanks for checking out the video as always :)
Perhaps, my counter argument to that is a NM is technically considered a PSA 7. Seems like a lot of 7s are likely lower than NM raw prices. Just really depends on where you find the most value. If you, find the best value at raw NM prices, then that’s great. I think there’s a lot more people on the other side of the spectrum that only collects 10s. However, I do question if a card would be truly a “flawless” 10 if that makes sense.
@@TCGCollector that is true with the older stuff personally idc about PSA or grading in general as long as I verify the card is NM in my standards (no whitening, bends, scratches, smudges, or play wear in general) then I’m fine. But I do see where you’re coming from.
I highly recommend that you do! I know PSA does not but I personally wouldn’t risk it. I don’t know if PSA cases are maybe designed for that purpose whereas the One Touch may have “sharper” corners? I’m not sure. Hence, I think have that extra protection can’t hurt. Besides, I think the PSA cards rattle around less from what I’ve seen compared to how much a One Touch case could rattle it. Just my opinion. Thanks for checking out the video!
Very interesting stuff man! I am also a Pokémon Content Creator. You did not go over your top viewing countries....I am curious to know where most of your traffic comes from??? side note: keep up the good work, just gained another subscriber.
@@TCGCollector OH word! where abouts im in Toronto! thats super cool to know there are more poketubers from canada it seems like all the well known channels are are from the states :p Yeah check it out when you have a chance im doing a PSA 10 Gengar giveaway on June 22 2024.
The main thing that worries me when it comes to the cards specifically is the difference jn the generations they released too. Yes in the 90s we had the game boy games first and then the tcg follwed but it was its own comoletely different phenomenon. The gamebiy games introduced us to the cards but they both held their own. Today kids know the games first and foremost and most have no interest in playibg the card version. Yes playibg tcg tournaments is still huge but i feel a lot of them are still old enough that the originals played a role in their desire to do so today. Im aware kids still buy the vards and even compete jn tournaments but its nothing like we did in 99 or the early 2000s. This is what makes me hesitent to invest in the cards (newer era cards) i have a feeling that the main collectors of them will still be our older generation not the generation they released to. I just feel like that demand will not be there as it is today. They dont care as much about the cards they care about the switch games and pokemon go and all because bith were not as equally popular to them.
Agree with you - aside from more “rare” modern cards, I don’t really think it will be the same as the older generations. I may be biased but to echo what other people say, base set and wotc will always be the first set. I’m not super confident that the newer generations today will be as appealing to newer collectors in the future or hold its popularity.
@@TCGCollector yeah i just don't believe it's going to go how everyone is projecting it will. I mean the original cards were over produced due to the rise in popularity but so many were ruined before they became valuable and rare. Now everything is getting so over produced even sets that are no longer in print they were still massively over produced to a community which now sleeves every single card they get immediately. Even the etb's and stuff every person is saying to buy this or that and now everyone has the same boxes or multiples so who's going to need to purchase that if everyone who desperately wanted it easily already got them? That's where the next generations comes into play and besides a few who get into later on I just don't see the demand and even then so many people bought these over produced boxes that even then I don't think it will be too hard to get one years from now lol there's guys with 10 boxes of certain sets. And if it does work sadly all that business plan is "I'm going to hoard the hell out of this now so hopefully later kids who liked it now will then have to pay me an absurd amount of money to get it back" and that just seems shitty to do
There's a whole section about shipping your items to psa.. it's about purchasing a prepaid label or shipping it on my own. It says that it is recommended to do the prepaid label but then tells me this: "Your Package Isn't Insured by PSA To mitigate your liability in case of loss or damage, you may elect to obtain shipping insurance from a third-party provider of your choice". I'm in Canada so what do you recommend I do my 15-20 cards would be worth at least 1500 I wouldn't want to lose that in the mail!
I usually don’t go with the prepaid label when shipping it to PSA. I just ship with Canada Post and may opt to buy the insurance there since they’ll be responsible if the package is lost/damaged. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions
@@TCGCollector that's exactly what I was thinking, might have to go with that. Will just find out how much it will cost to insure 1500$ of cards best to be safe than sorry! Thank you very much!
@@StaMaKiWeekly No worries - thanks for checking out the video. I believe PSA automatically makes you choose an insured return shipping option through FedEX. Good luck on your submission!
man I would love to have some card shops like this in my area. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything even close in my whole state. Jesse definitely seems like a fair & chill guy. I love how he put the damaged cards in fancy top loaders to "make up" for it hahah, honestly not a bad idea. Looks like a great variety of modern & vintage. Thinking about the PSA 9 Neo Rev Suicune being $200 less than the PSA 9 Latias&Latios is insane to me. That Suicune is such a banger. Those Platinum Supreme Victors theme decks you were eyeing is pretty cool too. The Platinum base theme deck with Giratina is so nice, but I don't think that was in the video. Appreciate another great video!
Always look forward to your comments. Appreciate you taking the time to check out the video! Jesse is a super genuine guy, hence, I thought it would be great to do a store tour. I was thinking the exact thing regarding those PSA 9 cards you mentioned! I would’ve much rather taken that Suicune in a heartbeat. Such iconic cards from a low printed wotc era. I do like how the decks are essentially a piece of Pokémon card “history” similar to packs but don’t carry the same high price tag. The nice thing about decks compared to loose packs is that you usually don’t have to worry about the weight or if it’s been resealed.
@@TCGCollector made me just go buy a Lost Thunder Raikou theme deck, since they're so cheap and I should of had one in my collection already lol. Sort of a coincidence too, because that was the first set to be released after I got back into collecting.
@@TCGCollector yea that's the only one with Raikou on it. The Unseen Forces decks have Lugia & Ho-oh on them. My favorite looking product that features Raikou is the HGSS Unleashed booster pack, such a sick depiction of of the legendary beasts on those booster packs. I would have loved if they made a theme deck box out of those artworks.
Great video! I do have a question though. The Ultra Pro top loaders I am looking at say they have pvc plastic. Is that going to be an issue long term if I single sleeve a card like you did in the video before putting it in the top loader?
Thanks for checking out the video! I don’t think it will under normal storage conditions. What I mean is if you store your cards away from sunlight and hopefully in a space that doesn’t have high moisture then I think your cards will be fine. I’ve read posts about people storing their sports cards for 20+ years and still getting a high grade after grading. I believe the more concerning thing would be if your card protection contains acid. I usually don’t worry about it that much especially if the brand is Ultra Pro. Hopefully that helps!
can't say enough good things about Jesse and Everything J&J! They are a pleasure to buy from and their prices are extremely fair and priced around market - so don't need to worry about getting ripped off. I've definitely seen other stores around Vancouver where they charge almost double the market price sometimes I was able to pick up some of the cards in the video haha glad to be somewhat near their store to be able to see their never-ending stock of cards and legos
That's true if you aren't using an inner sleeve when using the OneTouch. I have a video on how to "properly" use a OneTouch if you're interested. Thanks for checking out the video!
I applaud you for this video. There is very low intrest in vintage now a days compared to the modern market. The art work is beautiful on the ultramodern no doubt but they are simply so plentiful in the market, if people want to "invest" flip or make a quick buck it is prolly possible to do with Ultramodern. But i believe in pokemon for the long run, and the scarcity especially in gold stars to me is very underestimated. 5 -10 20 years down the line pokemon might be an after thought but if the interest is still alive at that point when the younger generation has adult money i think we can see another big pump in the vintage market
Thanks for your kind words and checking out the video. Agree with you! There’s a lot of attention since everyone can find them in store shelves but not sure how memorable these sets will be.
pokemon cards are bitter sweet a family friend was staying at my grandmothers house and stole mine, my brothers, and our cousin's binders full of first edition cards, unopened decks, and a few special packs we never opened and sold them. He had just gotten out of prison and was staying with her until he got on his feet, and those pokemon cards are the least of what he took. fuck phillip thomas.
That is really terrible to hear :(. That would’ve made me not want to collect for sure. Super sorry to hear that you went through such a bad experience. I would be very furious
So the card savers are not used for what they are meant for as the booster pack doesn't even slide into it. Isn't it cheaper to just buy some of the same material that's cheaper?
I don’t actually slide the booster pack into the sleeve part. I literally just use the card saver as for “support” as they can fit nicely into a PSA card sleeve. I’m not aware of many alternative sleeves that offers the same level of rigidity for a similar price.
@@TCGCollector So, could you like just use cardboard then and size it down to the correct size and rock with that or do you think that would damage the packs?
hell yea man, sweet pick up! I love your mail day videos because you pick up different things from all eras. It's not the same cards over & over again that most people are focusing on these days. Dude, I wrote out a long multiple paragraph response to your "strategy in 2024" video a few days ago, and I accidentally X'd out of the tab before posting it lmao. I was too tired to rewrite it that day. But the main point of my response is that I agree with most of your points in that video. I might rewrite a more detailed response to it when I can find some time. I didn't pick up any cards for the last 2 months, because I was saving for one of my grails, which I just received in the mail today! always appreciate the content man
Ah no worries man. Always love seeing your comments! Thanks for checking out the video - I had a lot of mixed opinions in that one! And also CONGRATS!! Always nice to finally be able to obtain a major collection goal. If you don’t mind sharing, what card was it?
@@TCGCollector ya the people who were disagreeing hard towards the bottom of the comment section, had some pretty misinformed takes. Not trying to sound elitist, but I expect that they are newer to the hobby and don't know understand market cycles/trends. They are just blinded by hype. One commenter said the cards you showed were trash, but that's the same type of guy to think any cheap modern card is also trash, until it gets hyped up and becomes expensive - then they think it's the greatest card of all time. Those guys don't have their own opinions, they just let current trends and current prices form opinions for them. The card I recently picked up is a PSA 10 "Burned Tower 052/l-p" Japanese prize promo. I'm the only one to purchase it in the last 8 months on ebay, so you can easily see the sales history. You'll see a duplicate sale of the same card from a few days earlier, which was a sale that fell through and got relisted. As a Raikou collector, and Johto lover, the Burned Tower Prize card with the 3 legendary beasts on it, was an automatic must-have once I discovered the card existed. It's my 3rd favorite card of all time, so the Raikou collection wouldn't have felt quite complete without it.
Thanks for backing me up man. I wouldn’t mind having a debate with people until they become rude then I don’t bother to waste my time. I know exactly what card you are talking about and it’s a great one! I love the art, the rarity and the era that it was produced. Congratulations! It’s a card that I hope to add to my collection one day. My current prize cards are the unikarp, mysterious pearl and some victory medals!
