In India, many of our kids go to local shops (vegetables, groceries etc). No one have mobiles back then, no access to calculators. You have to remember what items your mother told to bring. Calculate all items cost in mind, give cash and take remaining amount back. Everything is mental calculation. Even u educated sabji wala bhi aisa calculate karke bolte hai. Agar aap galat change leke ayatho vapas jana padega, shop wala ko request karke vapas cash leke ana. This is a real test to every student. Everyone must learn tables upto 20 atleast. As they said in the video, elders always ask how many marks you got in maths and also general tables when they visit our house. Ofcourse, now young generation don't fall into this category. Majority of the high profile school students don't learn Tables. So not much good at mental maths
