Are Jockey Box connections the same as draft beer tower connections? 

Whether you're connecting draft towers to couplers, a jockey box to a ball lock keg, a jumper box to a Sankey D keg, you're going to need the right fitting and threads. Luckily, they are all pretty straight forward. You need to know the I.D. (internal Diameter) of your tubing and which keg you're using.

Hex beer nut: standard in the beer industry, and fits most keg couplers and beer shanks.
MFL: Fits most ball lock couplers.
Then all you need to do is match the tailpiece to the ID of the tubing.
