I always think winchester is a novelty weapon. It's very rare and not that great. IMO, Spear, cleaver, and machete is the most usefull melee while glock,M16 and shotgun is the most usefull gun.

The Winchester is rarer than the Glock, it’s very slow and does 1 more damage than the Glock. The durability is very bad and the things you can get by recycling it is pretty good but the percentage of getting the best parts of it are 40-50%. The Glock on the other hand is about 50-60% . And you can get carbon composites. The things you can get from a Winchester by recycling it are: steel, and factory parts. The factory parts (40-50% of getting the factory parts) are extremely hard to get and it’s still worth recycling.

I clear all nonheavy turrets in bunker alpha (inc hardmode) with bows every reset so for me the bow mods are incredibly useful and resource justified in the long run. But the purple zip gun/winchester mod costs are just too big to ever become an efficient trade - i think its only fine to invest in them for fun or at least after you finished all other gun mods and going for 100% completion.

The Winchester is by far the worst weapon in the game. The stats for the rarity are horrible. If it was more common than the glock then I would be happy but it’s about as rare as a shotgun. The fact that it’s the only single shot rifle means that it should at least compensate these terrible stats with some range but it’s pretty much a weak shotgun.

The bow is good, it is cheap and is the go to weapon for farm trick with chopper or frenzied giants in bunker Alfa.

I Just reclycle it because it always give's me a couple of springs and Maybe a steel bar if i am Lucky

I modified bow first for doing chopper trick in farm cheaper before it was updated.

Speculation: Maybe the Winchester is better against enemies with lower health than a toxic abom: bloaters, walkers, etc. Because it has low durability and you don't have to waste your better weapons on those enemies then.

i opened only 6 purple cards and i get active skill for shotgun and now realise how painful it must be if i get at least one Winchester mod

im pretty sure it was a weapon meant to be recycled. Thats what i do, its performance will probably get me killed if i use it. It's a pretty bad source of steel, but it is still a way to get some extra steel

I swear the only reason the winchester, zip gun, and bow are in the game is to throw off the loot pool with getting mods. Having 7-8 trash purple mods (dont know actual amount) as well as a bunch of useless blue mods just makes it harder to get useful ones, meaning people will have to spend more money to get them. Its freaking annoying.
