My locs are quite long (nearly waist length) so I don’t know if that affects anything but I have tons of men and women approach me about my locs and how beautiful they are on a regular basis …however I definitely feel like I get way more of the “how are you today queen” type comments than when I was a loose natural and literally never got that when I was relaxed. People tend to assume with locs (in my experience), that you’re more “woke” and demand respect more … idk why

I think locs are more on trend in that more people are trying it as an easier way to maintain their hair. Just like some naturals are shaving their head or relaxing. Plus I think almost ever black woman has had faux locs, so the looks been on trend.

Maybe because I tend to be surrounded by people of other races a lot but they have no idea what is going on with my hair. None whatsoever. This is my 2nd set of locs. I Loveeee your locs. Great video!! I started my locs on like seriously short hair. (I have videos posted) I honestly don’t see why I hear all the time that “starter locs” are boyish. Most people now of days start them on long hair so what makes them feel boyish??? i never heard an actual explanation. I’ve had short hair multiple times when i shaved it the first time yea i did feel like a boy but that’s i think because i wasn’t confident in that hairstyle. At the time and i had nothing on my head 😭🤣 Then I recently cut it off all over again before starting my locs and felt sexy af lol just my experience… plus I’m sure they still wear protective styles. I Literally just put a scarf on some cute earrings and walk out until it grows 🤣 but when the scarf is off I’m still happy with my decision and don’t associate it with feeling boyish. Because i know what comes with this process. What camera do you use? I’ve been on the market for a new one. This one is givinggg 🥰

I thought braids were more dominant in Africa and locs were more popular in Jamaica and America. Like all the sports player in America have locs especially in the Bay Area 70 percent of the men have locs .
@thesimoneestelle
@thesimoneestelle 2 года назад
there's def truth in this🙌🏾 but i would also say that although locs have been popularized by Rastafarians in Jamaica, locs as a hairstyle doesn't reflect what the majority of the population actually have. One example i know of is that to this day it's unlawful for children to wear locs in Jamaican schools where black ppl make of the majority of the population😢.. Black Americans wearing locs have been popularized among male celebrities, but they don't reflect the reality of the population they represent. I'd say bc of the income celebrities make they're more often going to embrace wearing locs (males anyway) bc they don't face the same issues that directly affect one's livelihood in the same degree or frequency the average civilian may wearing locs. As far as Africa is concerned I think the general public are more likely to wear locs than any other black demographic. that's my opinion though
@Valley__
@Valley__ 2 года назад
@@thesimoneestelle yes aside from ball players places like the Bay Area , Down south like Louisiana , Tx and Florida 70percent of the male population wear locs . I say that to say that locs also have a culture here in America too. As you may No lots of ancient cultures here in America wore locs . As a person who has locs and grew up by the Bay Area we don’t view it as trying to look African or Jamaican because it’s apart of own roots here too. I have a 2 in-laws from west Africa and they don’t no too much about locs but favor more towards braids . When I look at the ancient and currant hair culture in Africa I see more braids not much for dreadlocs . Just my opinion from research
