I get this, but also as someone who’s been in several long distance relationships the “just try” method can actually end up ruining any chances of working out by souring the relationship, even if it’s no one’s fault. Whereas if we had agreed to not talk or keep some distance and then when we’re actually ready it might have worked. You want to want the relationship and long distance can feel like an obligation

Kassie is such a good podcast guest. She is very willing to talk about different topics even intimate topics concerning love and family. She doesn't have the most unique perspective but the way she articulates, explains and defends her beliefs is magnetic.

They’re such a great match, but it’s just bad timing and bad circumstances, with long distance. Especially when you’re starting out, typically long distance works when you’ve established a strong foundation so it’s good that they’re taking their time.

It absolutely is possible. I met my soon-to-be-wife almost 7 years ago in high school at 17 years old (I'm now 24). She was an exchange student from Brazil and I'm American, and I asked her out and initially we agreed we'd break up as soon as she left the States and went back to Brazil. Welllll we caught the feelings... I suggested we try out long distance, she was hesitant at first because she was on another continent, 4,000 miles away so the odds were not in our favor. However, she came around because she had the same strong feelings for me and we didn't want to give up on us just yet. Anyways, after seven years of long-distance and only seeing each other once or twice a year, we are now getting married in May. What I learned through this experience is that trust is the foundation to any relationship but especially a long distance one. If there is even a slimmer of doubt in your partner it won't work. Both of you have to be mature (not talking age wise, I know 19 year olds who are more mature than some 40 year olds) and there has to be excellent communication. Don't get me wrong, long distance doesn't work for most people, and I wouldn't recommend it to most, but for some, it's definitely a real possibility. In a long-distance relationship, you really learn to value and appreciate your time with that person. You learn to not take them for granted when you have them close, a lesson that will only improve your relationship once you are able to be physically together. I know what it feels like to not be able to see my fiance for over a year at times so every minute I get to spend with her in our marriage I will cherish that much more.
That’s awesome it worked out for you but I also can understand why her and Jimmy wouldn’t give it a try. The main thing is their careers and the time zones. Jimmy’s adventures make it extremely difficult for any girl he’s in a low distance relationship with to not get jealous. Then the biggest thing for me is the time zone difference. I was stationed in South Korea and I remember my friends and family in the US were basically asleep when I was awake. For a long distance relationship to work with this couple someone’s career would have to suffer. I will say “if it’s meant to be then it could still happen”. I refused to date someone for very similar reasons. She was hurt but understood. Cut to a year or two later and she some how convinced the navy to send her to the same state and city I was living in. At that point I ran out of excuses and were literally married now. 😂

Choosing to be in a relationship is a huge commitment especially LDR. I don’t blame them if they chose not to be in a relationship right now and continue to focus on their selves. However, their spark and chemistry throughout their dates were definitely undeniable and it was really enjoyful to watch.

I just want to say one thing to Jimmy. Being in a committed relationship is not a burden or time investment if you are deep into it it becomes a power because even in economic sense you have two persons worth of manpower, economic value, effort, energy, etc. It is different to hiring someone to work for you where you pay them and they add value. If you are in a committed relationship you both can work on the same goal unconditionally. The hard part is getting over the initial phase and reaching the end phase so I understand and respect your view also.

I don't usually comment on youtube videos but here's my single comment. Really enjoyed the Korea Arc and seeing the mental maturity (even if it's for the "content"). However Jimmy the reason Cassie also wants to marry early is she's more motivated biologically with her pregnancy window (aka building a family) past 30 gets a bit riskier. So technically between 21-29, is pretty ideal if that's your jam. Also, nothing wrong as well being more stable at 30+, however life (and dating overall) gets much trickier past 30 because everyone has a higher likelihood of baggage (children/custody, non-monogamous relationship dynamics, divorce/widowship, and any other legal matters issues, etc.) Yes, as a guy it's ideal to settle around 30+ (and we don't have to worry about biology) but there's also its downsides as well. Overall good luck to you both and the show's production. Looking forward to seeing Gabe finally get his main character arc, so he can stop third wheeling.
Guys still have to worry about biology/age. Fertility can become an issue, you don't want to be too old when your kids are grown, and you have to worry about all the things you mentioned. It's not as impactful as for women but it's still very much a factor.
After seeing this segment, I can see the differences in terms of their philosophy on many subjects, including love. Kassie and Jimmy have chemistry but compatibility is another thing. You need both in order to make a relationship last. I think we were all hooked on their chemistry but I can see why things didn't work out.

Been doing long distance w/ my gf for 3 years. She's been watching me grow as a person and has always been on my side and me to her as well. I love her so much. Once she graduates we plan on living together and then proposing. The future isn't promised, but we take it 1 day at a time. It's hard since she gets hit on a lot, esp when she goes out with friends, but she has always been very communicative and respective towards me, which is why this relationship is even working. LDR's can work, but it takes a whole lot of dedication and trust to run them. My now wife and I have been together for over a decade where a little more than half of that was LDR.
It requires people with long-time preference, discipline, and principles. There are just too many factors that work against it. 90%+ of people won't be able to do it.

I did long distance for seven years. It fell apart a year after I moved closer. Long distance can work if both parties are committed. It's not always the easiest but if that's the person for you, then it is what it is. Would you rather be in a pretty good relationship with someone else?
