I don't even get why you would buy a designer bag. The makers of these bags are still ripped off, it's still a mass product. Also, people buy these bags to show to other people that they are able to afford said bags. Not because these bags are inherently of better quality. It's been shown many times that noname artisans produce way better quality than those big designer names. It's all just a fake market. Why not spend your money on good quality stuff? Or memories. Or a cute pet and the vet bills that entail that. I could name 50000 things I could buy for that amount of money that will give anyone a better experience.
I can imagine that there are a lot of customers who like a certain type of bag, but don’t like the brand. What I mean is: I love the Hermès Evelyne tpm so much, that I have it in 5 colours. Both my friends are Chanel fans and I can imagine them rather buying the Chanel dupe of the Evelyne, than the Hermès bag. This is why - I think - the laziness of the brands pays off.
I plan to let a bag custom made when i'm next time in Italy, it will cost for sure more than a designer bag but it will be a bag only I have and it's hand made, it's personalized and most important I know the person who made it is fairly paid for the work and effort he invests in making it. I think this is the real feeling of having something special and luxurious, not something which you can find at each corner in the last time.
