You should do a video series on “5 best products to use for ______ skin types” oily, dry, acne prone, combination, etc. and be specific in recommending actual products and linking them
Yes and this aspect of beauty is rarely addressed. Also, most products are not biodegradable and the synthetic chemicals end up in the oceans, lakes and streams after it goes down the sink.
Thought I would share some of the skincare mistakes I’ve made and that I’ve seen others consistently make. We all do it! It’s just a matter of stopping once we know. 👍
Makeup wipes are like hand sanitizer to me. it does the job until you can reach the sink and do a thorough job. It can't replace real cleansing. does micellar water really clean your skin or is it a gimmick? I'm in love with all things Korean now in skin care (blame my drama fever addiction). I opt for fewer steps and I like it. I need basic simple effective skin care. I have a drugstore budget so I get the best I can afford I just need it to work. Keep this up Susan learning a lot.
I thought for sure that #5 was going to be not using sunscreen. All those serums are for nothing if you don't use your daily sunscreen! Thanks for the great video. I way over use those darn wipes.
I never use daily sunscreen. I stay in a room with no sun, and I cover up when I go out except for 100+ SPF on my face in large quantities. I'm so pale it's almost scary lol
Melissa Sanchez she did a Walmart one! I took some of the teccomandations and use the Lilly Ann retinol cream at night she recommended. Bomb healthy skin on a budget 👌
Hi! I have a video with my makeup artist Nikki La Rose where we show you how to create my go-to look. Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NeuGqOSAyAI.html
Makeup wipes are EVIL. I strictly use them for wiping if I’m swatching something. I will say though that I did find a brand of facial towelettes that I really do like for emergency purposes - Rooted Beauty.
After years of being a face wipe addict I've finally gotten it out of my bathroom. I keep some for on the go only lol. It's soo easy to over do it! I use an oil or micellar water to remove makeup and always a second cleanse. Skin is so much happier 🙏
Hi! Have a question - so...is skin “purging” a myth or reality? If so, how can you tell if your skin is “purging” in a positive way, or if a new skincare product is just not for you? Thanks!
Hey! I known I’m not Susan but I can answer this, as someone who has done pretty extensive skincare research and seen a dermatologist- yes, skincare products can cause purging, but only a couple types. AHAs, BHAs, and retinol/vitamin A derivatives tend to be the only products that actually cause purging, as they will cause previously existing pimples to surface by removing the uppermost layer of the skin. Other products- cleansers (without any acid or actives), moisturizers, essences, etc should not cause purging, and if you do see a negative reaction, you may be having a reaction to an ingredient. Hope this helped!
@@IqraArshadBeauty Hey I'm even later but usually purging happens in places where you normally get pimples. So if that's the case it could be inflamation/pimples surfacing but if it's in places where you usually don't break out it could be a reaction.
I ALWAYS stay being irritated and red when I use makeup wipes even the best of the best wipes . I still don’t understand how these “gurus” have flawless skin or not even , and “SWEAR” by the neutrogena wipes as their must have and I cringe . Especially when they claim you can just wipe and not rinse off and just have by your bed😫 no!!!!
I only use makeup wipes on the days that I wear makeup lol, and then I cleanse wash and everything. i try not to tug hard at my skin but may possible forget sometimes. honestly don’t remember. do you think it’s still causing inflammation/hyperpigmentation?? I’m open to anyone’s opinion lol.
I use Pond's Cold Cream, then the makeup wipe , and finally Cetaphil cleanser with my Clarisonic brush. I do this because I wear long wearing/full coverage foundation.
Thank you for this. I would love a video that discusses proper way to treat oily skin. A lot of RU-vid videos really focus on dry skin, because it's been hard to find advice to treat oily skin.
ATearea Boggan I’m not a professional but you can use vitamin c during the daytime and retinol at nightime or alternate them every night but do NOT use them together at the same time. For hyaluronic acid, you can use it together with vitamin c or retinol safely.
I use micellar water on a soft face cloth to remove my make-up, but I'm also careful how hard I wipe my face. Then I wash my face once and add either day cream or night cream. But I would like to add an eye cream and a serum. The problem is that my skin is e x t r e m e l y sensitive - I have rosacea, atopic eczema, dry skin and easily get clogged pores. It hates anything with strong acids, alcohols or perfume in it. So I don't know what to get. :( I tried a hyaluronic acid serum to help with the dryness, but my rosacea reacted on it and my skin got irritated. Anyone got any ideas?
What's your judgment on sheet masks? I feel like they help me get in some concentrated moisture, especially during really stressful weeks, but some doctors I've spoken to say that they're usually a scam and that there really isn't a variety to them like they're advertized.
This is awesome . Honestly I used to over cleanse my skin with super foamy cleansers until my skin was just done. It took me a while to pay for the damage of over Cleansing and using harsh stripping cleansers and even Clarisonic 😱. So maybe you can talk about Cleansing. Coz I really feel like it’s where the problem starts when it comes to making your skincare routine work. 🙏🏼
Gosh, I just love skin care! I love these kinds of videos and really pay attention to them. The key to making your makeup look flawless is to take care of your skin, FIRST. I just introduced liquid glycerin to my routine and my skin loves it. I keep a spray bottle with watered-down glycerin in my shower and spray myself down before I get out of the shower. It goes on my body, face and hair. I feel like it boosts my regular moisturizer throughout the day without feeling heavy! Loooove it!
Frühlingsblume My ratio right now is 1 part glycerin : 3 parts water. I try to spray after every shower, but sometimes I forget. If I forget, I just add a small amount of the glycerin to my regular moisturizer and it works fine. I really love it and so does my skin ☺️
I never realized how bad makeup wipes are for your skin! I use to use them all the time and then stopped about a year ago because I noticed they were the reason for my breakouts. At the time I thought my skin was just sensitive to the makeup wipe, but after hearing you explain why they’re so bad for your skin, my situation totally makes more sense! If I hadn’t stopped using makeup wipes before, I definitely would’ve stopped after watching this☺️ thank you!
no wonder i always have a dry leads to flacky skin after using makeup wipe once in a while... not using it anymore now, so not good for my skin seriously... thanks for the video...
Hi! Do I use oil on top of moisturizer or visa versa? I've heard differing advice on this so not sure what's best (I use squalane oil at night and do not know if it goes on last on top of my night cream or not) Thank you!
can you do a video that shows the correct order to put serums? i have a couple and i'm always scared i'm using them in the wrong order, or i'm using them in the wrong order for my entire routine.
I knew it!!! The Neurogenic wipes (purple pack) ALWAYS cause breakouts and increased hyperpigmentation for me! I thought I was delusional but you’ve confirmed my suspicions. THANK YOU. 🙏🏾😌❤️
Serums with BHA (salicylic acid) tend to be great for acne-prone skin, especially oily acne-prone skin. Paula’s Choice has one, Cosrx, and the ordinary all have BHA serums. I would also recommend, as BHA can be harsh/drying, using a niacinamide serum or in general one that promotes healing and hydration.
Is there any difference between face oils and serums? Or just the consistency? I use a combination of oils (rose hip, jojoba oil and tea tree oil) as serum. Is that ok?
Serums are a super concetrated concoction of ingredients (ex: oils) and have very specific benefits. Oils on the other hand have vague benefits and are really just for overall nourishment but what youre doing my combining oils is perfectly fine as long as its not irritating! I hope this was helpful!
How often would it be OK to use makeup wipes, or when would it be OK to do it? (taking into consideration you're not pulling when using it and you're just using it to skip the oil based cleanser but you're actually going to do the gentle cleanser afterwards)
I actually cant stand the neutrogena wipes.. but such a good point whats actually in those wipes ??! And then our other steps are always to "preserve, Be helpful and nourishing" etc etc in our other products in our regimins... ehh i dont wanna use a wipe again.. unless its here n there 🤪🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🙌 TY
I usually just steam my face and use one of those microfiber makeup towels during the week to take my makeup off and my skin looks so great by the end of the workweek...buuuuut I get lazy on the weekends and and use a makeup wipe when I come home from going out and I always have a breakout on my face by Sunday 😑 one day I’ll learn lol
What disturbs me the most is seeing people on Instagram using jade rollers like they’re painting a wall. They’re just teaching others how to do it wrong too. Think I’ll be getting rid of my wipes, thank you so much for this video xxx
Make up wipes and any kind of wipes are the worst for skin, even the "good oned" I used Cetaphil's to wipe my day off a year ago it irritated ny skin so much it started to flake and got an allergy, i tried the Neutrogena one's and it was the same, also if you're around kids and babies you'll notice that baby wipes are as harsh, the do called diaper rash it's mostly because of wipes ! On another note, if you're looking for a good serum/face oil for oily/acne prone skin, Clarins lotus huilé it's amazing, not comedogenic at all and your skin feels amazing !
I HATE THE NEUTROGENA WIPES. They are crazy rough, and have very little product in them. I switched to the Pond’s ones and they’re the best bc they have plenty of product and are soft. I never buy wipes anymore though because I’m so lazy that if I give myself the option to use them I’ll use them over my cleansing balm.
Could you talk about products that like.. peel or ball up on your skin when being mixed with others? I know some product ingredients don't mix together so I'm being careful with mine but are there certain ingredients that just won't work at all together? Hope that makes sense lol
I have dry to sensitive skin and that has made me stay of the face wipes, because my face reacted to them immediately. Sometimes you just have to listen to your skin to make the better choices.
What about make up removers you put on a cotton pad to wipe off make up? Is that also considered a make up wipe? How do you know if you’re tugging too hard?
I know this video was posted a few months ago but this has always been confusing me. Obviously for anyone who is a makeup or skincare junkie, whenever we go into Sephora, Ulta or any store with makeup, some of the brands claim to be “vegan & cruelty free” and when you look at the ingredients list...it might say something like “water, essential oils, lavender, rosemary” whatever. However when you read the rest of the list.....it’s just a bunch of long words that we can hardly pronounce, which are most likely chemicals that are probably found in cleaning products...which these makeup and skincare brands are putting into their products, and we’re putting that onto our faces. It actually scares me to know that so many amazing makeup products that we love and rave about, are really just a bunch of chemicals mixed together to create something that could not only damage our skin, but it could also damage the planet. If you’ve ever bought a new foundation or concealer, tested it out and it maybe started to burn, itch, or turn your face red and you wondered why....obviously that isn’t the right product for you, but that’s also because the chemicals are having a bad reaction on your skin. If these makeup brands wanna keep their loyal customers, they better stay true to their word and actually create products that are 100% vegan and cruelty free, and not lie by putting unnecessary chemicals in them.
I don't get along with Neutrogena products especially the wipes. I met the inventor of the makeup eraser before anyone knew about them. She gave me one because I did RU-vid back then. I prefer using them with a gel cleanser. I need a good oil cleanser... Reusable cloth is great. Even the knockoff makeup erasers work well. Less garbage for the landfill.
Hi Susan, love your channel especially gives honest opinions... Need your help... I have combination acne around chin n cheek.. I'm using Dennis gross.. Cleanser toner, ferulic retinal Serum n the universal peel... Is combination OK to use.....
Sorry to bother you but would love you to have a look at my skincare routine Morning: Avene cleanser The ordinary Niacinamide SvR Moisturizer with Spf 50 Jojoba oil Night Oil cleansing with jojoba oil and lavender essential oil Avene cleanser Alpha Arbutin The ordinary Retinoids The Ordinary Shea butter Thanks in advance, and love your videos ❤️
3:03 I started using a hyaluronic acid serum a few weeks ago and you're right: serums are key. No matter how much moisturizer I used to layer on in the past, it never hydrated like a serum. And yes, 5:46, talk to your doctor about your skincare if you're planning to be pregnant or are pregnant. Great advice!
Could you do a video on the steps on applying different products for a skincare regime. I always feel like applying another product on top of a previous one smudges it together and spreads it everywhere :(
Wow I had no idea with the wipes...from now on, I'm only using them to fix tiny smudges and mistakes while I'm putting makeup on. I get paid in a few days, and the first thing I'm doing is going out and getting a nice oil! I just really hope I don't breakout, but I will absolutely take your word and give it a try. I've definitely noticed my skin change, and I've been using the damn Neutrogena ones for YEARS!😭
Hi! I was wondering, if you can do a video on skincare hacks for when travelling? Or when going to a festival, a hike or something "out doors" :) I am struggeling to find out what to do, when I am going to festivals (like living in a tent for a week) and dont have proporly acces to a 100% clean sink... or room to convenient store and bring the skincare products in a good way. Hope you will make a video abput this! Best regards from Caroline Victoria, Copinghagen, Denmark.
After you break your makeup down how do you remove it? Seriously wondering because I use Kleenex or makeup wipes with my balm but I don’t like either one. 🤷♀️ then I use a gentle cleanser after.
I'm curious about your thoughts on the effects of using a new skincare routine. For example: Switching to new skincare product or even makeup product caused a breakout. Even in someone who has a good routine. Do you think there is an adjustment period?
Okay I literally am turning 21, have oily skin and generally do not want 1001 products to have to replenish. How can I have a beginner skincare routine that builds off of serum, moisturiser and cleanser?
Omg yes finally. I didn’t understand the hype about wipes at all and when I tried it it just felt so rough on my skin that I just stopped. Honestly a balm or a lip eye remover is the way to go
Am I the only one who absolutely hates makeup wipes? Every time I bought them (for traveling) I instantly regretted it. It feels harsh on my face and I have feeling that it didn't took more than 30% makeup off my face. And I always wondered what the f is wrong with me that I hate thing that everybody absolutely loves...
I use coconut oil to dissolve my makeup (actually just sunscreen and a little power). Then I use my makeup wipe to wipe the oil. It’s done in literally 5sec. Then I wash my face with a cleanser. It can’t be that bad, right?
What on earth is a serum? Is it liquid or cream or gel?!? Is it viscous? Tacky? What ingredients specifically identify a beauty products as serum? Every beauty person on youtube recommends it but there's not one definition of a serum other than what a manufacturer labels "serum"
Should I get makeup wipes? I’m between Clinique or neutrogena which one is better. I have normal to dry skin. Sensitive as well. I would only use 1 per use.
What would you recommend instead of a makeup wipe after working out? I workout outside Monday - Friday and I have no time to rush home to cleanse. So I makeup wipe it. What other alternatives would you recommend?
I watch this video as I have 4 packs of nutrogena wipes sitting in my shelf. I am guilty of using make-up removing wipes and over exfoliating. . I came to watch this video as I suspected that my Niacinamide serum stings after I used makeup removing wipes.
What kind of ingredients would you reccomend for people with extremely sensitive and rosacea prone skin?? Im specially interested in serums ,is vit c serum ok to use?? or would you reccomend HA serum?? Can you guys please give me any advice??
Hey Susan I have a skin care issue. I just went on accutane and got off it a month ago but I started getting like 2 white dots and bumpy skin and I still have a lot of redness and hyperpigmentation and dark spots in my skin. What do I do about it??
Kshama Kolur I've taken two courses of accutane in the past. If you're noticing significant changes in your skin go back to the dr that prescribed it and talk about it w them.
I dont think Susan is a dermatologist or expert of any kind. Not all potent ingredients come in serum forms, they could be light gels or even creams. And I know this from the word of a dermatologist. And Preservative (and strong ones) are present in every skincare product, like they should. I dont understand why MM chooses her for this segment when they could get someone educated in this area.
When I wasn't pregnant I used to use the wipes when I was too drunk to wash off my makeup and also me being pregnant my back hurt so bad I didn't feel like bending over a sink to wash off my makeup. But all in all I didn't really use them this year.
i never use make up wipe. anyway, some skincare is sold as a packet, like brand A sell a make up remover, face wash, toner, serum, day cream, night cream contain AHA, BHA, HA or retinol or whatever and label as anti aging skincare. Stating that it wont work optimum if not use as whole. How about that? since I notice that skincare packet usually have same ingredient. Do i have to skip some skincare and replace it with another product or i can use is as whole since im no good with combining skincare.
