The main appeal for me was the flexibility of the whole system. Past that, the sound is A-OK but can't compete with more true HiFi sets. Made the switch to IEM's a bit over a year ago and have been happier overall both in comfort and sound.
PSA: HORRIBLY LOUD HISS AND CLIPPING!!! Most reviews won't talk about as they are paid shills by AIAIAI!!! Everyone and their nana and even doggo is blessing these cans to Valhalla tho the hissing is super fucking loud and can be annoying. Like an built in white noise feature. On max. volume on them the hiss is way too loud! Pushing the Volumedown button 6 times makes it almost inaudible tho then the cans are too quiet. Really gone is the hiss firsif you press the Volumedown button 8 times tho then again are the cans waaaay too quiet!! Using an amp to power the cans is also not great as they start to be clipping really bad relly soon!!! No one was reporting on this. Tho no wonder if AIAIAI gives those cans to ppl to 'test/review' aka do lazy marketing... One Love! Always forward, never ever backward!! ☀️☀️☀️ 💚💛❤️ 🙏🏿🙏🙏🏼
The H01 actually works well for me (~62cm head circumference), but the H05 was definitely slightly uncomfortable for long term use. The H06 is the current BT headband, but I don't know that they adjusted the fit for sure.
Good question! I often use this for 2+ hours and I can say there is a sllight squish due to the light foam padding. There is a small amount of pressure at the top for me, but I think the fact it's so lightweight counteracts that feeling mostly. If you don't care about weight then the other more padded bands might be a better bet
@@eightbitJuan i currently use the h04 microfiber pad, which is super comfortable, no pressure. But just bought the S10’s to replace my S02’s. So i might make a cheap 2nd pair with this h01 band and some extra pads i have. Thanks for the response
My take on TMA-Studio with S05 MkII and Alcantra earcups is that I love the concept and design but the sound is bad. If you like Adele and Deathcore like me (or just rock and metal in general), you will most like not like these too. They are BOOMY, barely any soundstage, no detail. Everything just sounds muffled. Not worth the money for my taste. I don't know if different earcups would make a difference and I'm not going to invest more money just to make them sound right. Just so you know, I daily drive Sennheiser HD600 and AKG K361. Namely the closed K361 has a much wider soundstage, cleaner bass, cleaner mids, cleaner everything, however they are very fragile.
Tuning preferences aside, I 100% agree with you on the sound stage. I've gotten so used to how these sound that I didn't consider it when talking about them. I had these as a dedicated PC setup so music was secondary to gaming and video use. That being said, for my liking the tuning was great. Strictly for sound quality, there are certainly better alternatives at or around the price point. I really bought in for the modularity, easy repair, and low key aesthetics.
I think the S10 are still 30% off today. Some years ago I started with H02, S04 and E05. On kickstarter I got the H05 bt headband. Last week I recognized the aiaiai newsletter with the 30% off deal and they caught my attention with the S10. Ordered them for 90€, received them today. I am really happy to use the H02 band again, although I don‘t hate the H05, it is not as durable as the other onces and doesn‘t look as nice as the others, at least to me. I am ill this week so my ears are not that good at the moment, but so far I like them. And like you mentioned, you get a second pair of headphones. :)
how did it go with the h02 headbands they are really comfortable for daily use?, many people say that it breaks quite easily and that puts me off a bit to buy these headphones, ando How does the s10 sound compared to the s04?
I've been using my TMA-2s for the last 7 years and they're incredible. Started with the DJ preset, found the long C02 cable frustrating for daily use so bought the C01 short cable. Switched phones and no longer had a headphone jack so bought the C60 USB-C cable. The cable started to wear after about a year and a half, contacted support who then sent me a new one. Bought a pair of the Studio preset with the red long C10 cable from a friend, built a new pair using my old S02 drivers, E02 cushions and the fancy H04 headband from the studios with the C01 cable and gave them to my girlfriend leaving me with a frankenstein S05, E08, H02, C60/C10. Just broke the C60 cable yesterday and was gutted to find out they don't sell it anymore, contacted support who say they don't have any back stock either. Managed to find it on musicstore.de for a little above what it originally cost but it's still cheaper than upgrading to the wireless S10s. I love these headphones. The build quality is just incredible, in this whole time the only issue I've had has been the inner lining for the H02 headband coming off which was a quick easy fix with some newer adhesive. Both times where I've damaged the C60 cable have been completely my fault and their customer service is incredible. These headphones have survived DJing, travelling all over the world, being thrown in my bag without a case and being used near enough every day to listen to music. There's a reason why these headphones are loved the way they are
thank you very much for your review, it is very helpful that you explain it in detail because there is very little information about these headphones compared to others, everyone says that the s05 really is the best of all since it provides a fairly detailed sound with a very good bass without become uncontrolled but not lacking in bass either, I have some Sennheiser hd 25s and I really like their sound, it seems perfect to me, but I can see that the aiaiai are like the hd 25 but on steroids, that's why they interest me a lot, I I want the following way, S10, H03, E02 & E04, with the short reinforced cable since the telephone type cables make me very heavy and uncomfortable, my only question is, will I really get a better sound with the same or better detail in the treble, instrumental separation, sound stage, and build quality like the hd 25 has, if so wow, I'm selling my hd 25, and I buy the aiaiai improving the sound and with the advantage of using it with Bluetooth, the only thing that still me to The problem is that some people told me that the headband breaks quite easily, can you confirm that?
