Niche buffers are not a problem, the problem is they all suck until C6 and thats a massive investment you have no control over for a niche playstyle as a reward.

Maybe the devs are changing this going forward. Chevreuse's buffing is 5 star level even for c0, she's actually comparable to kazuha buffs. And she gets busted at c6.

Putting all 4* characters in the Starglitter shop would be nice. It would give me hope that I could someday build teams like c6 Lynette + c6 Faruzan. We all know how bad things can turn out when you try to target 4* on a banner, so these non-meta team comps remain locked up. :( Gatcha gonna gatch.

I still don't get why Hoyoverse won't add new characters to the shop. New weapons? Ok, maybe, just MAYBE that's forgivable, but we have been stuck with the exact same 4⭐️ characters since the beginning of the game. Is now time for a change! And when I say a change, I don't mean new materials for the shop.

@@Otherface even if hoyo wanted to get money out of ppl, at least make it just a little less obvious maybe sync it with the chronicled wish banner or something - if it ends up following the theme of regions, let all the 4 stars of that region be available in the shop for the duration of the banner. that way, that banner could pull in more moolah if ppl try to go for the 4 stars, or the limited banners in that phase get a boost if ppl roll on them instead to get more starglitter

Id love a cyro support that had a passive that basically said "enemies who cannot be frozen instead become "brittle" brittle enemies take X% increased damage" or something along those lines, maybe a second passive on a con that gives the shatter reaction a massive buff or increasing the duration mobs are frozen for.

Nilou definitely counts as a niche buffer. She's just so good at it that it becomes generic, similar to Xianyun and Chevreuse. Same type of restriction as Chevreuse as well. No ones playing Bloom without Nilou except maybe Neuvilette with Baizhu and that isn't for the reaction.

Eh Fridge exists by using the Cryo aura to generate more blooms, but it's far from good and only exists as a fun option.

The thing with Chevreuse is that she buffs Pyro characters that deemed bad in comparison with other top Pyro characters because they only had standard ICD in their kit that they can't do vape most of the time. At the same time she buffs the whole team's damage so it doesn't matter that they don't get strong reaction damage if every hit of everyone hits like a truck. It's also easy to keep a 100% uptime and isn't very strict with character rotation.

Chevreuse Overload to be precise. Overload as a reaction is bad, but Chevy makes it that it empowers the whole team with 40% Pyro/Electro RES shred and up to 40% ATK with 100% uptime. It also adds to up to 60% Pyro/Electro DMG bonus at C6, and that's on Chevy alone. Which is insane since you can add another Pyro or Electro team buffer like Fish or Benny to empower the whole team and not just Arlecchino

I think the problem with Shenhe is that she was designed not even as Ayaka support, but as a pure mono Cryo support. This is the team where her buffs give the most. However, Cryo really lacks a strong sub-dps character (and good characters in general), so those teams always turn out to be lackluster.

The best off-field cryo we have is probably Ganyu and she's an old unit. Add Kazuha and there's still 1 slot left for hopefully some new cryo unit. Maybe someone like Arlecchino or Neuvilette that can self-heal and deals good damage.

Nilou buffs the bloom reaction, she literally changes how the reaction works in her teams. She doesn't buff any characters. Meanwhile Chevvy doesn't really buff overload itself, just pyro/electro units if they trigger the reaction. The units deal more damage, the reaction doesn't change. So honestly Jello was right. Although I'd still count Nilou as a niche buffer, I can see how someone could count her as a niche dps instead.

Correction: Chevreuse doesn't buff a reaction (Overload). She buffs the characters from the elements that can trigger it (Pyro and Electro) ;)

It's kind of funny to me because people complain when characters are too niche and people also complain when characters have overlapping roles. I don't think niche characters are a problem, but I DO think their issue is almost always needing full cons to be worth it. Needing 7 copies of all these niche buffers is painful. Especially with how terrible of a job they do balancing 4 star rate ups.

me too. We really could have some debuffers via shatter, where shatter causes a def shred as def shred is rarer than resistance shred. A superconduct support would just be a character that buffs atk when superconduct is triggered and maybe applies a physical DoT.

@@purp1e200 The thing is that only benefits Ganyu, Lyney, and maybe Tighnari (depends on the elemental vision of the charged attack buffer). If he/she is pyro, that he/she works very well with melt Ganyu teams and Lyney mono pyro teams but he/she cannot work with Tighnari since he/she will ruin Tighnari's spread reaction because he/she will cause burning reaction instead.

Something I like a lot about niche characters is that you can free up a slot from the super high demand supports and use them on the other side, only thing thats annoying is when they lock the potential of said niche behind constellations.

I like niche supports tbh. It feels like how the game is SUPPOSED to be instead of the terribly balanced early ones that are to this day on every team and make the game still feel old and never changing while also being new (like getting a cool new Wrio with cool new mechanics only to still see the same brain dead Xiangling Bennett combo for the past 500 years same with Lyney...that is rough to see). I'm hoping Natlan will fix some of that and give us more cool niche supports. With the leaks pointing to cryo getting a buff I'm hoping they can finally have more comps outside of the Pyro duo and freeze.

There's an argument to be made for niche buffers, but I still like their kit design philosophy compared to other Gacha. Before Fontaine, I got no reason to build other healers, never saw crystalize reaction for my units, nor was I building an overloaded team. For my personal playstyle preference to change so quickly and frequently in such a short time, I am currently enjoying the characters they are releasing.

It is a misconception that Chevreuse can't use anemo characters. The only buff you miss is the convenient resistance shred ability. Her attack buff and damage buff c6 still works for pyro and electro characters as long as you can produce overload reactions. You can use anemo for cc but shredding both electro and pyro is gonna to be tricky, you would probably want to shred pyro over electro because overload deals pyro damage, so her pyro+anemo option is pretty much restricted to pyro carries.

A cryo chevy could be really cool. I think a new stackable 'slow' mechanic would work great for it, one that could even work on unfeezable bosses. They could buff dmg or whatever on how many stacks of slow you have on the enemy and at max stacks they could even freeze/stun for a few seconds where you could get the max buff until you have to reapply the stacks again.

this sounds like SUCH a fun new mechanic to add to make cryo more interesting. imagine the ridiculous reverse melt teams you can make with this feature which has the boss enemies slowed or stunned right before their one shot attacks and then with the use of a pyro character like thoma you can just cancel their animation entirely and do huge damage

my problem with niche is like the Itto / Gorou case, Itto doesnt have many support options besides Gorou and Gorou doesnt have many uses besides Itto, Itto can be used a weird reverse support hyper carry driver with petra and off field dps characters and Gorou only other uses are Noelle and Chiori, Yunjin and Albedo are supports and nobody needs more defense on their shielders to lose dps and not complete abyss in time, I don't mind characters being niche and I have those two fully upgraded and equiped but when they do niches, those niches need to be a little bit broad like Xianyun that enables so many characters and can fit into so many teams or Faruzan that enhances all anemo, not just an specific stat and an specific element (or everyone in that element uses that stat), if it is too narrow just turn them into Cinnabar Spindles and call it a day -_-

Tbh I don't think niche buffers are a problem. If they release more universal buffers like furina, it's a good thing. But I think seeing the same character everywhere makes the game less unique and boring. Imo they should release more niche buffers of every type.

I feel like even though there's niche buffers who literally cannot be used elsewhere, it still works out because they are best in slot for the charecters they buff. As an ayaka lover who lost 50/50 on shenhe last time, I can proudly say I'm skipping clorinde for shenge and it's just for ayaka. Niche charecters provide people with the ability to further invest into the charecters they love without having the RNG of artifacts, that's why they are still so good. Or, well, you can always just build Bennet. (I use him on my non-ayaka team tho)

If they had a DEF polearm with some ER passive it could help Yun Jin so much. Right now to use her effectively you have to stack basically all her stats into ER and hope the DEF works out

I was surprised that you forgot to mention Yun Jin as an Arlecchino support, maybe it slipped your mind. I know Yun Jin isn't part of Arlecchino's overall best teams, but Arlecchino is functionally a better Yoimiya in that she's a normal attack spammer pyro main dps. For her mono-pyro teams I believe Yun Jin is a good option for the support picks, of which she probably performs better in the double geo comps. You could play her in a mono-pyro comp with Arle + Bennett + Kazuha / Xiangling + Yun Jin or in a double-geo variant with Zhongli over Kazuha/Xiangling for comfort and resistance shred. Overall good video, I think niche supports should exist and they are healthy for the game, but I think that requiring c6 for 4-stars is gacha-bait. Like you, I am also sad that Shenhe's relevance in the meta is minimal, I love her character and her design, but she is criminally overlooked by Hoyo both in her banner releases and her lack of viable teammates. I don't suspect they'll ever make another 5* niche support and they'll probably reserve this archetype for 4*s.

Im not sure I agree with your mika takes, Off-field physical damage isn’t a thing on physical teams, and regarding atk speed, it is specifically important for Eula for the comfort in achieving her stacks while still spending time dodging, its why her SOBP is such a good weapon,

Yeah, he kinda repeated some misinfo about ATK SPD, the thing about ATK SPD is that at low amounts, it's difficult to notice any difference but when you have something as huge as Mika's, you'll definitely notice a difference. Both Freminet and Eula are able to get stacks faster with just Level 1 of his Skill.

I still use my Shenhe in my Ganyu freeze and well freeze ain't as dead as it seems. She is more than servicable for any cryo dps still even after all this time, at least my experience show as much.

sara, the electro C6 4 star buffer. Gorou, for geo; Faruzan, for anemo, Mika, for physical. Those happened to be the weakest 4 DPS elements. They will never release a hydro, pyro, or dendro sara because those elements already have cracked DPSes and the release of such buffers will break the balance. Cryo tho, I am not sure. We do have wriothesley akaya and ganyu but cryo is not in a good spot.

My problem is not with the Niche buffers on their own. My problem is a majority of them only feel useful at C6, on top of them not having any guaranteed pity on limited banners that you may not even want the 5 star.

Shenhe is one of my favorite characters but for the Abyss I had to changed her out in my Ayaka team. Now I use Ayaka, Charlotte, Kazuha and Furina and imo it just works better. At least I can use her in the overworld.

i think it'd be fun if there was a Hydro/Cryo Nilou that makes freeze more like burning as a frostbite reaction, also slowing enemy movement/attacks. This would enable blizzard strayer on unfreezable mobs as well as shatter on any mobs.

I don't think it's just that Xianyun buff niche thing like plunge that make her good, but she also enables plunge as well. Imagine Shenhe not only buff Cryo but also infuse other characters' NA with Cryo(,which sadly, Chongyun stole that role already.)

Thanks for the video dude, there's too many people just talking about who are great buffers but it's good discussing problematic 4* (or 5*) which need constellations because let's be real most people won't get a c6 until that character has been ran several times on the banner. I've spent hundreds of wishes on every Xinqui banner and still only have him c4 (yes I know he's cracked anyway) but still he's part of my main team so it's frustrating.

My 4 star constellation map should ALWAYS be. Usable at C0. QoL at C2. Pretty good and very much usable at C4. Broken at C6. If its Trash at C0 Good at C6, Then its just a bad design

Last time I checked Heizou setup I saw was he on Cashflow and Marechoussee, Furina Bennett Faruzan, is actually more dmg than plunging, you do N1C spam on Heizou

Personally I want two kind off niche characters: - Charged Attack Buffers for Bows. The whole class can't use Xianyun properly, they were left out, so they deserve it. The buff could be around Charge Speed, which could make it insta charge like Sethos, and the less time you hold, the more damage it does. It could balance Liney/Ganyu since they'd get a lot of benefits to spam their charged attacks, but they'd need to hold it a little more than other bow users just to get the extra effect. Not sure if this specifically would work, but I find that it could be fun. Imagine Ammo's Bow on a Diona or Aloy with that niche character + shenhe. It could be better than Ganyu is right now. And, of course, Ganyu could feel better. - Reverse reaction buffers. I feel characters like Chongyun and Candace aren't appreciated enough for their infusion, and it's such a nice mechanic, so there could be a character that buffs someone that triggers a reaction by not using their original element. For example, Rosaria could be buffed if she's triggering Freeze with Candances infusion instead of her Cryo application. Another example could be Xiangling, Chongyun, Xianyun and that X Character, where Xiangling would plunge in Cryo and trigger Reverse Melt and get buffed. This would also buff Bennett C6 (as if he needed), but I think it's fine, I just want Chongyun and Candance to be viable for their infusions, I don't want anything metagame changing.

YunJin is really great with Noelle in a Noelle/Gorou/Yunjin/Furina team. I assume she is the best in slot as the 3rd geo (for gorou's buffs) in this team

17:55 Already felt that 4-star issue for over 2 years ever since my friend got C3 Raiden before C6 Sara. They still have yet to update the shop to include more characters for starglitter. Pulling for non-guaranteed 4-stars is as bad as the artifact system in this game.

I've missed most of the pairings unfortunately. C6 YunJin but no Yoimiya, C6 Faruzan but no Xiao/Wanderer. Gorou but no Itto. I wanted C6 Sara, but that never happened. Maybe I'll try them with XianYun or Noelle, see how they buff others.

I follow a different strategy playing this game. When I get a 5 star weapon , a very good buffer or a very good artifact, I just save for the character who can actually benefit from them. For example, I pulled Yoimiya because I had C6 Yunjin, 2 copies of TP and cracked SR artifacts .

Although i do prefer general buffers/Supports(as long as they don't end up broken like bennett.) I don't mind Niche Buffers as i think they are good edition but they better not be part of a clunky mechanic at C0 or feel worse at C0 than C6. Chevreuse is great at c0 better at C6. and Not like Faru without c4 and C6 and Sara without c2 and C6 as they both feel clunky to me.

Year 6 supports are gonna buff the active character's 4th normal attack damage by 10% of their HP, but only for anemo units born on the 6th of September whose name has less than 2 syllables

As a Furina-Ayaka user as myself, some call it CJB, bec. her premium team comp. is still the best in terms of Excel impact and rotation. The problem with Shenhe that they've learned is with her sig. weapon, given that she is already a niche unit, her sig. weapon being her best in slot only for her doesn't help. And if u wanna equip her with her bis, the most comfortable gameplay will be pulling her c1 for ER problems, coz if not, pairing her with Ayaka, she needs favge.

Not really.mine it's c0 with Her Sig it's amazing and makes it easy to build her, 3,8k atk 195Er and with her weapon passive I get 4k atk , on ayaka I have 2150atk 35CR 265CD 45ER 4 set BS. 100% burst up time always in the team

But that 195 ER is a lil bit of a high investment, I have only 160 ER and Jean on favge and sometimes still find her burst not ready. And not to mention the ER of Ayaka into account, coz my one friend who have her at c6 still run favge c1 on Shenhe coz Ayaka has an ER of 110 only. If u wanna compare build UID: 825618005

I don't think it's a bad thing per se. what is bad is having no way to guarantee a C6 4*. Or any 4* constelation. I like niche buffers, but I will never go out of my way to wish a character that you can C6 in 7 or ~≤∞ pulls. I did go for Shenhe for my Ayaka Team because I can actually quantify the amount of pulls I need to spend. My resources are limited and I'm not made of money to whale, hell, even if I had the money I don't think I would try going for a C6 4*.

I feel like Mika isn't a character without Furina, the only reason why Mika seems undertuned is because he's Furina enabler of the teams he's in, no other niche support does that

In the new game mode they probably will be. But they are also a problem if you like the character design of the buffer but not the characters they can buff. Or if you just want to play the buffer as a DPS.... The REALLY big problem is how the undertuned and borderline unplayable characters pollute the 4 star character pool and at least half of those were the bad niche buffers.

Some people have _dreamt_ that, _maybe,_ the level cap _could_ increase from 90 to 100 in the future... If that becomes true, then certain niche buffers that depend on their base stats - like *Yunjin* and *Shenhe* - _would_ have more of an *Impact* on their carries' DPS... So there's hope!

The problem I have with niche buffers is that they're just greedy cash grabs in most cases. The 4* buffers especially. Most of the issues are already mentioned in the video. The biggest issue when it comes to 4* buffers is that you have no guarantee you'll get any constellations or even your very first copy of the character. There are plenty of streamers who've spent over a hundred fates before they get a single copy of a new 4* character.

Funny thing about Faruzan, now that I finally got her C6, I realized she is good enough to just buff herself and be the DPS. Like, not f12 meta speedrun level good but comfortable easy floor 11 clear level. And she didn't run into serious energy issues at a mere 110% ER, all other stats in ATK and Crit. To be fair I did give her a Sucrose and Venti as team for easier energy but why wouldn't I do that when she buffs their damage for free on top of buffing herself? I'm looking forward to the day when I get C6 Lynette and can try that team..sometime in 2026 maybe lol

i don't mind niche. it's that most of them are not good until C6 and usually on specific banners. they should just add more 4* characters to the shop, 5 per round instead of 2 13:00 i could have sworn there was no circle impact with Bennet. i'll lay his burst and i'll move out of it and i still have the buff for quite a bit. it doesn't seem to go away until his burst does. am i imagining it?

Do you have Faruzan C6 or are you close to it?If yes pull for Wanderer.Since most of the time you spend in the overworld exploring, Wanderer is the best option with his 3D mobility.

@3606PIZZA look the highest dmg I can do wanderer CA spam is 70-80k and c0 lost prayers if you are happy with this dmg go for it ! If you ve a well build raiden/ fischl I don't think another electro character is worth it

For Shenhe, I want characters that make mono cryo better. Probably can't expect it until Snezhnaya, but who knows. I want a competent 5* off-field cryo dps. Ganyu is okay, but not on the levels of Furina or Yelan.

I'm f2p , and I've c0 r1 hatboy, and a c0 xiao but with a c3 faruzan, and I've benched them for a long time, i use wanderer for exploration only,i got him on his very first banner and i really like his play style, but it sucks, it wouldn't be a problem if faruzan was a c0 5 star

The only problem is shenhe imo mainly because she's a 5* and was released really early into the game. Her teams have energy issues and her buff isn't that impressive outside of mono cryo. Xianyun imo is just a better execution of a shenhe like character, she heals, better buff and her weapon is basically calamity queller but also gives energy. Ayaka is probably the only og character that didn't recieve any buffs, even with furina release mainly because of shenhe's existence. You can play furina-charlotte but its only a sidegrade in the end. (Same for ganyu) If they release better buffers for cryo then she just becomes irrelevant. If shenhe was a 4* then her kit would've been balanced throughout her constellations and getting powercrept by another 5* buffer wouldn't be an issue. Gorou is also similar to shenhe in limiting team building, but he's a 4* so they can always powercreep him. Faruzan however is a god for anemo carries. She has no limitations or any worries getting powercrept. Any anemo sub dps also gets buffed by her. 4*c6 >>>>> 5*c0 Mika is an exception 💀

Little problems in each character really make me wish that Hoyo will buff, or even better, overhaul characters to fit their roles. They prob won't since they can just make a powercrept version for us to spend our money on.
