I love pat McGrath as a person so much, she’s such an inspiration and it’s my goal to work with her. For the last year or so it feels like she’s no longer at the helm of the brand, it doesn’t feel like a MUA is behind it anymore. My focus lately has been Lisa Eldridge, she takes her time with products and it shows

I think her investors are dictating a lot and she is not as involved. The packaging has gotten a lot cheaper and lower quality and her creativity is no longer present. They are now just churning out riffs on the divine rose stuff. They won't stop doing that until people stop buying.

@@raaziabanks2552 that’s a fantastic palette, I use that one for bridal makeup jobs. I wait for the products to go on sale to buy, on her site they’re pretty regular (30% off) up until the eighth mothership there has been four of the baked shades per palette. Keep an eye out for the blitz astral quads too, I wish she’d release more because they’re incredible but they are smaller pans than the mothership

My biggest beef with pat is that she refuses to sell the blitz astral shades as singles😭. She got rid of the singles altogether. I get that I’m probably not part of her targeted customer base, but even from a business perspective selling those as single’s would be a GREAT idea. Blitz astral solstice would carry all her sales the way space cowboy does for urban decay. I’m just so annoyed lol.
@cassellen2416
@cassellen2416 8 месяцев назад
As a makeup artist I feel like her astral blitz formula was something new and interesting on the market and definitely worth the price, for me. Performance of her shadows is excellent. However, her more recent releases have been very disappointing and basically all the same. I love Pat as an artist and she is obviously iconic, but from an artistry standpoint it’s just not innovative anymore. Danessa Myricks is a true innovator and her palettes and products are a better investment for me!

Her new/re-release of mothership Starwars palette/Midnight sun palette with sticker over her sleek packaging for 125€ when original was on 50% sale (at Sephora) at the same time perfectly summerises how I feel about the whole brand. What are they even doing? Are they lux or mid? Are they even original anymore? Obviously they don’t know either. Smh. Thanks for the video ❤

Man I used to LOVE Pat’s stuff. I have 5 mothership palettes, along with several blushes, highlights, and lip products. For me, I was done when she got rid of her baked blitz astral shades and repeated color stories. I have enough rosy tones from her. Give me a grungy, subculture esque color story. Edit: Mothership 1 is my favorite too :) I’m wearing the mattes in my profile pic

I really like the look of the blitz astral shades, but they are often put into palettes with shades I already have or dont want (gold). I think I would probably buy them if they were singles or you could a palette of like 4 but choose your own shades. I've always wanted her palettes but could never justify spending that much money when I basically only wanted 4 or less of the shades.

hi love! although they're not quite the same formula, oden's eye make STUNNING shimmer and duochrome eyeshadows. they sell singles as well as smaller palettes. I personally love the skuld, verdandi, urd, and all of the alva II mini palettes. They're all around $21 USD for the palettes. shimmer shadows are $7 (?) for singles. the multichromes are definitely more expensive, around double the price of the shimmer shadow singles, but their eyeshadow formula is soooo smooth. The sheen is STUNNING and they've lasted me 12+ hours before with eyeshadow primer. their larger palettes are between $30-$45 and the mattes are silky and pigmented. i own about 12 of their palettes, large and small, and i don't regret it one bit. Wait until black Friday though! last year, they had 40% off everything and i got 10-12 palettes for $145. They also have gorgeous highlighters. They have some glitter to them and can be intense, but i like the look and they also look great on the eyes. i have two of the large pat mcgrath palettes that i love (mothership moonlit seduction and huetopian dream) but they're just way too bulky and the mattes from odens eye are honestly better. hope this helps ! xx

I have three of her palettes and every time there were issues. My first came with two shades missing. They demanded I send it back to get it replaced using my own money (I’m not from the US). Second one took forever to get here. Third one is defected, 2 shades are too dry and don’t even get picked up with a wet finger, complete hard pan. The customer support was super passive aggressive, saying stuff like: “Well, as a sign of courtesy we can replace your product”. What courtesy? The product doesn’t work. Especially both times I got defected palettes there were the blitz astral shades that were missing or damaged. After the third case I stopped buying from this brand.

I stopped buying any Pat McGrath around 2019 because their service across the board is just so terrible, from order fulfillment to customer service to Pat's reputation for litigating against smaller brands. I hate that so many people have such terrible experiences with her customer service, but eventually it will be enough to really turn people off. I hope you are happier putting your money toward brands that treat you better. :)

Love this video, so well done! When I heard she not only did the pinky mauve color scheme AGAIN && didn’t put in the blitz astral shades I was mind blown. Always find it beyond bizarre when there’s soOo much of the same critique from an audience && the brand owner completely doesn’t listen. Even the variety in the initial quads was great&varied. It’s very hourglass w/ yeeeears of criticism for not doing a larger shade range or a range at all on their palettes. So many color palettes she hasn’t done in the motherships & Natasha does far more variety in her midi’s & the formulas are consistent if not constantly elevating & she’s adding more formulas. I’d never buy her full price. Goes on sale all the time & immediately after release.

I’ve been lucky enough to buy a few things from Pat McGrath ( always very discounted) and in my opinion for such a luxury and high end brand it’s quite hit or miss. That being said the blushes are gorgeous like you say but my experience of her eyeshadows haven’t been consistent, the motherships are worth it if it’s a colour story you’re willing to invest in and it’s on sale or in a deal. The satin allure lipsticks are one of my favourite formulas such a shame they go off quickly!

To me, super high end makeup is lowkey scammy/gimmicky. Theres so many lower cost options that work just as well. Ive never been a fan of monetary exclusivity for things that are mass produced like makeup. I dunno, it just enforces the "you're not ugly, youre poor" thing.

Especially that makeup goes off so fast! I'm all for the passion and pleasure of collecting things but collecting modern makeup is just such a horrible waste of money. I more understand people that collect truly vintage makeup packaging, made of high quality materials as metal and enamel like Erin Parsons do. But modern products? Just to see them dusting in a drawers?
@SamRabbitx
@SamRabbitx 7 месяцев назад
@bigpinkfurrybox1300 1. I love Erin and it is so lovely to encounter another of her fans in the wild lol and 2. I completely agree! Modern makup lacks the class and decorum of classic makup. It was an EXPERIENCE back then. Something trendy, fun, and could act as a time capsule of the era. Did those ladies know their art deco compacts were going to be highly sought after by collectors decades later? No. They lived and loved their little makeup accessories and it's made it all the more enchanting for us modern girlies! Modern makeup doesn't have that at all so the price points are ridiculous for something you can't refill, that won't last, and will fade into obscurity in 5 years.

Her products have historically been great but she definitely fell into the trap of fast-fashionizing her brand with new releases that aren’t really meant to fill a gap in her product line and are just there so that there’s something “new“. Her product lineup is pretty fleshed out now, I wish she’d keep it pretty static and let the quality of everything speak for itself.

I tried PMG twice, and was twice disappointed. I got a mini eyeshadow quint (Eye Ecstasy in Sublime, the more neutral of the two) and a mini lip set - lip balm, mini mat lipstick and a mini lip pencil (I only have the pencil, and the color is Suburbia). The palette was cheap plastic and was super hard to open and close, so I destroyed the packaging with the intention to add the shades to my singles collection. The pans are not magnetic (non-magnetic pans are cheaper), so i ended up gluing them to one empty palette. I never use them. The goldish browns and pink-red are not better than similar colours from Zoeva's Cocoa Blend, and I reach for the latter. The greenish gold was fine, but not better than the one in ND mini glam. Since I got ABH Rose Metal, I have not used this PMG shade even once (and even before that it was not often). The lip set was also a disappointment. The lipstick have a cold-greyish undertone and made me look sick. It was also pigmented in a very dry way and made my lips look like raisins. NOT a flattering look. The balm was goo-y and soft, and definitely too soft to stay in the bullet form in a mini format, and broke into a goo-y mess after two uses. The pencil is *fine*, although also very pink, so I use it only when I go for very pink look. Not better than NYX or Essence pencils.

I have issues with the shade range where each shade is a different tone and if thats your tone but wrong undertone. Like I am closer to shade 4 but it’s the wrong undertone! Eyeshadows are good but I would use one or two on the 10pan and even on the 4 pans. Waste of money for me. I love thay they came out with the liquid eyeshadows. Love them. I wish her single eyedols would come back. Or like Lisa Eldrige you can buy the eyeshadows in single to create your own palette.

Until I discovered the indie brands eg. Clionadh, Terra Moons for multichromes, Sydney Grace for shimmers/mattes etc. There were mutiple times I was on the PMD site about to place an order, and ended up getting something from the indie brands instead. Have several of her lipsticks, they are ok but again, much prefer Chanel or Lisa Eldridge.

You have to be more careful pigment lipstick in general due to formulation (like twist it up a little) so not necessarily just an issue from this brand specifically (pretty sure Lisa Eldridge’s brand issued replacements for some lipsticks because of that issue) but the component not working is a real bummer.

In my opinion, if a brand is at the point where they are just re-releasing shades/ products (especially if there's no improvement to the formula or packaging), they need to hang it up. There are so so SO many makeup brands out there so if a brand doesn't provide variety then they leave it up to the consumer. 🤷‍♀️

They probably had something in it that's either unethical to produce or that could contribute to polluting waterways when it gets washed off. But that's just my best guess. I only have the Mothership I and her gloss and I love both but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy any other things from her. I do not need pinky eyeshadows and Mothership I already gives me what I love and I want to use it up and enjoy it. I may be the only one who likes her satin shades as well, to me they are just so sophisticated, also, the mattes are beautiful. My least favorite is the first pale shade, that formula is not really smooth and I honestly think not all special shades are great. I think the gold and the blue (the more pigmented ones) are worse than the sheer ones. So, if I'm going to buy another palette from her to just get one or two mattes and maybe one, two or none sheer special shades... It is not worth it to me. In that case, I'll just buy a Bobbi Brown single baked eyeshadow.

After using a handful of products and while I do LIKE them I don't LOVE them and quite frankly...the formula and ease of use doesn't justify the price of ANYTHING they make. It looks pretty and it feels expensive hence the price. Otherwise it's honestly (and I'll die on this hill) BH cosmetics circa 2018-2019 shadows, blushes, bronzer's , and highlighters are so on par at 1/12th the cost....can't recommend PML to anyone for that price.

I would love a comparison video of all the top luxe brands and the comments they receive… bc I’m still trying to see how TF/CT are innovative but PML is now ColourPop. The disrespect. I personally think ppl are jumping on the hate train/clearly biased…

I love Pat McGrath!! Her eyeshadows are wonderful. Lipsticks are fantastic. She is always sold out. Her foundation is not very good.

I personally think PM is incredibly way overpriced I can get even better “ special shades” at a fraction of the price and how many times can you honestly buy pinky mauve colour schemes, which is exactly what her palettes are with the addition of the “ special shade “ normally being the only colour other than pink or mauve . I’ve tried her Foundation and it was only okay the Concealer is better than the Foundation, but I’m not paying PM prices for a Concealer not when I can get the exact same thing at again a fraction of the price. When PM first released her first palette I wasn’t really buying much makeup I still had my Daughters living at home they were teens and extra money I had went to them , after my girls moved out and started their own lives is when I really got into makeup ( my Husband had I were young when we had our kids and yes still together) I was 36 when my oldest moved out and 38 when my youngest moved out . I had more time for myself and money imagine that lol , so that’s when I really started buying more makeup in 2013 and PM wasn’t even around yet , I bought all the MoonDust Shadows that had just released and was hooked on that look but never could afford PM when CP came out with SS Formula I was all over those and at such an affordable price, even ordering online from Canada ( I’m Canadian) our cost is much higher than just the exchange rate but still affordable .

What's in a name? (That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.) Мухи это символ навязчивости и нечистот. Дизайн путтанеска от Версаче. Много феноксиэтанола в матовых оттенках. Это вызывает слезу. И все это divaine and celectial. Скромнее надо быть. Мы такое не любим.

I have a feeling that the sales have gone down for Pat and that is why they now have 25-35% sales all the time. Also I have a feeling that Pat has succeeded so well in make up and financially, that she might not be THAT passionate about it anymore and it shows

i've really never even been tempted by any of her products because they are so so expensive and with such great quality drugstore brands that are so much more affordable it just seems like a waste of money
