All indian dharmic religion are based on yoga and experience. Even science like ayurveda. Our culture is not based on book. So in dharmic religion even if you not believe in god you are accepted. Even atheist hindu are there. They not believe in god but they are spiritual. Buddha is also great example.

Doesn't it seem that he has confused spirituality with philosophy? Spirituality cannot be dealt with on a purely mental level - this is where it stays philosophy. True spirituality springs from experience and has to do with a connection to source. For a technocratic brain it might be unfathomable.
Well for me I see spirituality in religion and I’m happy .. I pray 5 times in a day it’s a meditation for me , cleansing and I feel recharged again full with energy.. because it is all bout blessing and blessings! You need a ritual to express spirituality and this is can’t be without religion.. practicing religion is a way to preform dozens of spiritual emotions inside you 😃 ... but have it open and wide without religion it’s a kind of mess or loss, things need to be organized in a certain way .. we are not living in a bubble or an empty space we’re you feel but not suppose to express through practice !
M. Ahmad Oh yes you can express spirituality without religion. You can create your own ritual that supports doing good and being your higher self. You don’t need a religion to tell you how. I totally agree with Yuval. I tried different religions before I decided I am spiritual but not religious. Asking questions and being free to explore ‘who I am and why am I here’ are 2 important questions that pulled me closer to God, help me realise the power of God and the power that lies within me. Instead of guilt and feeling like an imposter within a religious construct that alienates me from simply being me.
Sole Curious creating new rituals for me is a waste of time , I already have a set of rituals in my religion because it’s deeply practical religion were you find a ritual for every thing along with specific prayers for each ritual .. it’s deep spiritual and practical at the same time .. if I have the material ready why I creat something new .. moreover we have religious laws that discipline us in many ways and make our life much easier.. add to this we have a holy book that explain life matters , after life , answer question of creations of human being and beyond.. and explain the laws .. it’s a complete religion which don’t leave with question ! Why I have to creat something new and start from zero .. maybe you mean for those who born without religious system ? Religion is the gateway to spiritually, it is like studying in kindergarten before graduation. Not all in the world would be clever enough to directly jump on spirituality.
Religion is just a name for the intellectual work done by humans in the field of meaning and values of men, the evidence that there was some divine intervention in religious books is poor unless you consider that everything including consciousness and the laws of the universe are divine there I could understand and possibly agree with you but I'm not really sure if anyone really knows this big question.

No religion ever harmed humans. These are humans who misused religions. Some selfish people create a misconception about an entire peaceful religion. Without religion, there will be a total chaos. He states the goal is to prevent human suffering, but that is his own self-determined goal, and it is terribly misunderstood by him, if in fact, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob exists, because if you truly wanted to prevent human suffering there is only one solution, and it came on a cross at calvary. Without that solution, the suffering for humans is eternal. People should always be seeking truth, which is exclusive by its nature, and the most important question to ask is: Did Jesus exist, and is HE who HE claimed to be? If he existed and HE is who HE claimed to be then Christianity means everything, if HE didn't exist and/or HE isn't who HE claimed to be then you can dismiss Christianity. But don't be lazy in answering this question, no one can do it for you, it takes real work and studiousness, and a heart that honestly wants to know the truth. Mohammad Feizi I found that religion is the one that messed me up until I realised I do believe in God but don’t need a human construct telling me how to believe in God. Spirituality gives me the freedom to show up as I am - acknowledge my flaws (instead of feeling guilty for being a sinner), and always works towards a better version of myself. It took lots of courage to live as My True Self. Asking questions was what liberated me, even when there doesn’t seem to be any immediate answer. I knew God has my back. I don’t need to know everything for God to answer my prayer. Otherwise what is faith? Asking questions IS liberating. Your mind will blow up if you only allow one truth and one way. What if you approach the questions with curiosity and allow the ideas to flow... not lock down with your own perception? What if there is truth everywhere, it takes time to find your own truth? What if the truth embodies different perspectives? You just need to find it? As Long I know I am doing everything with the best intention and not harm others or myself (thinking I am not good enough, only someone else, like God, can save me. Hence, not taking action to improve myself.) I am at peace with my truth and who I am.
It's always a question of utility for these people never if said religion or religious claim is actually true (I might add philosophical claims as well especially concerning metaphysics and epistemology. Don't you dare make an objective claim about those!) They never seem to bother questioning their governing presuppositions and take for granted the very possibility of knowledge in our world. What about hope? Either the answers from the religions are the real thing or not. It gave to the humans something to believe in. Gave to their suffering lives in this world a meaning of happiness and without it many would have felt realistically hopelessness...in search for an eternal answer.
I think you make a great point Vincent, I invite you to listen to his whole talk (link in the description) because he clearly differentiates Religion from Spirituality. I think our desire to connect to something much bigger then ourselves will always be there, it's only the images we use about it will change. Institutionalised Religion does more good then bad nowadays I think but I am also aware of the fact that there are plenty of great religious figures (mostly at the bottom of the religious hierarchy) who do a lot of good in the world.
if you are truly spiritual, you wont bother about hope, because you remain peaceful whatever negativity happens around you. Hope is wanting something more pleasant in the future which you dont have at the moment. This is the trick of the mind, the mind is never happy whatever it has at the present moment so it searches elsewhere in the future

Though it is very clear and confident opinion, however, current form of religion exist in the world are lack of spirituality. Spirituality has become separate domain beyond religion that is sign of game changer events happened in recent centuries. All spirituality were deeply linked with their founders actually like Jesus, Muhammad, Moses, Ram except Gautham Siddarth. Now religion is a lifestyle of groups and culture, but later with evolution of human development, their founders basis of spirituality were separated by jurists or modernists gradually. Now, we have religions with its essence. In this stage, I agree with Yuval Harari what he said in this video. In contemporary times, many great religious people are emphasising and motivating on both religion+spirituality and they have been very successful in giving new identity of their followers nations such as Sheikh Nazim, Deepak Chopra and also Christian and Jews spiritual gurus. I think re-combining both religion and spiritual is most wisely approach for going forward. We cannot ignore religion to be more successful and wise.

Religion is not medicine. Like Yuval says, it is mostly harmful. I was a muslim before, until I found out that the stories in the Quran (and other religions) are mostly fairy tales, like the Noah's ark (no historical evidence whatsoever on the huge ark and flood), splitting of the moon, and many more.

People always asks how religion has affected civilizations but they never ask how atheism has affected civilizations. Now of course a gay man such as Yuval will rate religion very low for obvious reasons. Now me as a Christian guy I would rate Christianity pretty high but I know that we haven’t always done things the way Christ commanded us. I also think atheism hasn’t been all that great but there are some things that atheists have done that has benefited civilizations. All I’m saying is that it would be hard to say that any one group is perfect who is without any flaws. I will also say that I think in this day in age Christians are one of the most accepting people in the world since most people from around the world flock to Christian majoritive countries for example America who h is by far the most diverse country in the world but is called the most racist country by atheists “which is pretty weird.” You can even openly blaspheme Christianity and our God and never get the thought that you might be in danger of what you said. You wouldn’t be able to see that in most other religions especially if it were said in their own country.

How I dread the time when Engineers, science and technology take over human Essence and define it for the human race. Science and technology love certainty. As humans, we live for faith and hope in the face of life’s uncertainties... hoping that someday we will meet our Creator, to be better versions of ourselves or simply, to live a good life during our time on earth. You say conversations are enough but people eventually wish to preserve the achievements of a given group and so they form larger organizations. I am thankful for the Catholic Church which preserved the findings of a large tradition of theologians and even classic Greek philosophers. Without this institution, those findings might have been lost. My point is, organizations are built to preserve certain outcomes of conversations so that the next generations do not have to build knowledge right from the start, but they may build on the established foundation. You must not be confused that human nature is particularly good. There are precursors to morality that are present in the animal kingdom - that is true, but the appearence of higher consciousness in man created the necessity for a new level of ethics, not present in animals. In order to even have a civilized conversation with their fellows, young humans must be educated into culture, taught not to steal, not to lie, taught how to concentrate etc. This is impossible for animals. So empathy is not possible without culture. Now, dogma are formed as specifications of the general symbolic truths about the world, that a given society regards as true. The whole dogmatic structure is just a map. And it is not arbitrary, but built on thousands of years of "conversations". I think that a reasonable and educated person understands that dogma are mostly referring to transcendent reality and not necessarily to the physical domain. And such person also does not follow them blindly but tries to understand and verify them. Although not necessarily by opposing them publicly at any given occasion. You see, the outcome of many generations of theological investigations is certainly worth understanding first before going into the world openly criticizing it.
@@karol_p I completely agree and understand. To give you another example religions or people inspired by religious beliefs have created probably the most beautiful works of art ever created. I know as I lived in Rome for 25 years. Modern art does not come near to what those artist have achieved in the past. I think our relationship with the 'beyond' as I call it, it's extremely important. It's the religious monopoly on moral thinking that I am criticising. Religions can exist, and they probably should as they do a lot of good. But I also want to point out at all the horrors that religions across the world have created and are creating. I believe that Harari gave up his spiritual quest too soon. If people search long enough and sincerely enough, they usually encounter Jesus and know the truth. Before anyone claims l am narrow-minded and "judging" other religions, l challenge you to read the New Testament. Be sure to find a translation that doesn't sound like a Skakespearean play. If you go down the "Jesus path" and it looks like a sham or a cult, then you're not really and the Jesus path. Try again. When you find Jesus, you will know love, and you won't find any satisfaction in "judging others. "
They are relevant to give hope to poor,desperate,sick people in underdeveloped countries. I cant see the point of religion in countries like Netherlands or Germany,they have science and quality of life
Religion is not religion unless one understands it and sees the big picture, otherwise, it's just a mask. I disagree with the notion that religions aren't relevant. I am a proud Muslim and I have always found meaning in my religion, if someone who is less educated tries to talk me out of it than that person is the one I perceive to be "ignorant"
The concept of "god" has many problems, it shows that it is a concept made by humans. Can "God" create a stone so strong that He cannot destroy? If the answer is "no", then God is *not* omnipotent. If the answer is "yes, by creating something to destroy the stone", then still the conclusion would be God is NOT omnipotent because He *cannot* do it by Himself. Also think about the concept of heaven and hell. Why can't God just create humans that he *knows* will go to heaven, and still test them with disasters, death, suffering, etc, only that they will go to heaven in the end? He can do that, can't He? Why not? Why burn in hell forever? Because "god" is just a concept made by human brains.
What you are asking (in the first paragraph) is if God can be a logical contradiction. You're asking can a being be omnipotent and not omnipotent at the same time. It's like asking can someone be a married bachelor. Or can there be a squared circle. There are responses to this as God does what is in God's nature. But also another which puts such a question to shame as Harry Frankfurt puts it "For why should God not be able to perform the task in question? To be sure, it is a task-the task of lifting a stone which He cannot lift-whose description is self-contradictory. But if God is supposed capable of performing one task whose description is self-contradictory-that of creating the problematic stone in the first place-why should He not be supposed capable of performing another-that of lifting the stone? After all, is there any greater trick in performing two logically impossible tasks than there is in performing one?" Basically, if you are asking for a logical contradiction, then the answer can also be a logical contradiction.
The second paragraph doesn't make sense either. You assume God doesn't know who will and won't go to heaven. But that leads to a different question and I'd like to respond to what you asked here first. If God creates beings that will go to heaven, then what is the point of the test? It makes the whole test thing redundant. Just put them in heaven. They're all going to past the test. Such beings will not be able to have free will. As they will go to heaven they won't be able to disobey God. The better and more difficult question would have been to ask why would God create beings he knows who would fail the test and send them to Hell.
You are using logic to form an argument. Good start. Interesting you don't see the irony. Where do those meta rules of mathematics come from? You can't create a concept without a set of eternal rules to structure it.

I used to think that when I was a muslim. Now I am an atheist because I found various scientific errors and stupid things in the Quran and hadiths and the Islamic scholars just have to do various kinds of mental gymnastics to defend ridiculous verses. If you really learn your religion, you will know that people created the story of "God", there is no such existence.

Religions are useless! Jesus Christ is Useful! Jesus is the Way, the Truth, the Life noone gets to God except through Jesus. He Created humans made in His Imagine to populate His Earth He Created.
