You can use a 1/8” riser. It works.

Even a riser pad that small will screw up my tricks

I’m riding 215s and 60mm slimeballs atm so risers (3/8”) are a must considering how surfy I like my trucks. For the first session I noticed the extra feeling of height but got used to it quickly. The plus side is that the turn is SUPER deep and I can really dig into a pinch on coping and that feels great. Makes ollieing a bit weird but I find I go higher when I get the timing right so I’m persevering with that. Awesome skating in those pools 🔥

I skated with risers for years and as soon as I took them off my board I could pop my tricks so much more consistently
@jeffheyer7783
@jeffheyer7783 7 месяцев назад
Yeah. I don’t like the extra time it requires to pop. I have an 8.5 board that has only 1 finger between bolts and nose/tail that takes a lot to pop but it feels alright because the board is 8.5

I ride 1/4 inch risers. They took a minute to get used to but I love them because I feel I can get more pop and wheelbite with 55mm wheels is virtually non existent

Nice… what trucks were/are you using?

Skating since 84 in the 90s, I tried no risers. It's fine if you don't weigh a lot. But man, if you have any size on your body, then wheel bite will crush you.

Super feel good vid with the content, the filming and the music. I’d use risers for skating transition but to have them on flat ground seems really weird. I only have risers on my cruiser though.

The fact that Al says he's afraid of heights and yet he clears back side airs. lol.

I use big 58 mm spitfires, 1/4 riser pads are awesome, but a little wax underneath means no wheelbite for me

I use 1/8th risers with 56mm. I like my trucks really loose so the risers add confidence for me

I ride hard bushings. Bottom bushing, and bottom bushing on top. It works for me.

I don’t ride risers on 55mm Indy standards but use risers on lower hollow Indy models. I’ve come to learn wheel bite is part of my board feel! There’s certain trick you need to “pinch” and also for me it is forces you to land or ride as bolts as possible. You will have to tighten your bolts less with risers (if at all) and your board will feel crispy longer!
@Rufusdos
@Rufusdos 2 года назад
"It forces you to land or ride as bolts as possible" for me is just a limitation. It just means you get pitched to the ground more often if you're learning something new.

@@Rufusdos I don’t really skate anything bigger than 4-5 stairs I should’ve mentioned 😀

I cut out wheel wells with wood carving chisels. Much cleaner and easier than a dremel or sander.

That cup thing is awesome. What the heck is the purpose though? Is it just art? Does it create a waterfall or something if it fills up with water?

Do you feel like risers help with pressure cracks or even breakin the board? I’m 6’5 and snap decks on the lamest tricks. I’m just wondering because they do seem to eleviate some of the pressure the deck takes, but I could be wrong and have no experience with risers. Just wondering! Hopefully you respond!

Might help, I would imagine rails could help with board strength

I find the flexible or gummy risers will help a bit for shock.

I always put risers on my boards. It's just out of habit really. I've been skateboarding 38 years and it's just one of my quirks. I was that kid in the 80s that had to have everything you could possibly bolt your board. I've let friends skate my boards and they always say my boards are "twitchy" and turn "deeper" if that makes sense. I could be wrong, but I think it could be the risers. Recently I've started skating shock pads, which I thought were just a dumb gimmick, but I only skate street and bomb hills and they totally suck up a lot of vibration.

im an old fogie that always used riser pads. im riding 8mm dragons and 1/8 shock pads. what is "wheel bite". back then it was 1/2 risers. i dont remember why. i do remember everyone not using them after little wheels and flip tricks became popular. both i didnt care for to much
