I have a "stupid" watch. It's lightweight, it's water proof, it tells me the time, and I don't have to remember to charge it. That's good enough for me.

I've had a TicWatch E (first gen) for over a year now. I've been through several different lifestyle changes through the year, and I can say, this watch helps immensely with nearly all of the different lifestyles I've thrown at it. Phone banned at work? Sneak it in your pocket and stay notified thanks to the notification sync over bluetooth, employer won't even realize. Need semi-reliable fitness data? The watch on your arm can get a better idea than the phone in your pocket. Need the time? Flick of the wrist is better and faster than a pulling of the phone. Phone buzz, gotta check that notification? Again, flick of the wrist. If it's important, you'll know and can react to it sooner. I was a smartwatch skeptic too, but when I saw the price of the TicWatch E, and said fuccit, it's become the first and only wrist accessory I use normally.

I've got a Samsung Active, the first one. I interestingly find that there are issues with the amount of memory, sometimes apps I had open will close, and it's really annoying when I was doing a workout and the app had to close from running out of memory.

Just a real quick question, why is it usefull to know how many steps you took and how many calories you ate? You mentioned it being usefull, but gave no examples.

If you're looking for a great cheap watch, I reccomend the pebble time 2. They're under 50$ but you have to buy them on Ebay since the company was bought out by Fitbit a while ago. The big difference is that pebble watches use an E-reader display so the watch can last almost a week and charges in under half an hour

This watch looks great. I have always worn watches so i figured a smart watch would be a no brainier. I bought an LG Urbane smartwatch sometime in 2016, and i have been loving it. I wanted to get a new smart watch and i could not find anything that looked better than it, until now.

I've had two versions of the apple watch series 1 and series 3 and I've had the Samsung galaxy watch When I had them I was stoked but after a while they began to pee me off The idea was to have a smart watch so I didn't have to pull my phone out all the time or have it with me however having majority of the apps and notifications on would drain the battery so quickly it would barley last a full 24hrs it got to a point where I had to turn off everything just to get the battery to last a full day basically like turning the watch into a normal watch Until they can actually make the battery last a very long time between charges with all the notifications that you want on they are absolutely pointless and I'm glad I've gone back to my seiko so simple so straightforward and only have to replace the battery every 2 years

When you said "Google play, google pay," my phone thought you were talking to it and opened up google assistant

Yeah I think I got a bed unit or something mine was really slow so I returned. was legitimately faster to pull out my phone and use voice typing on there then have it voice typed on the watch.

I was considering picking up the new Samsung Gear smart watch but really I just don't need one, I have time to check my phone and unless I'm in the capital city and not in my hometown the probability of someone trying to steal my phone is minimal

You reviewed a watch without telling about the watch, what was the lug-to-lug width?, how tall is it, how does it wear? How big is the dial, materials like is the screen mineral class or plastic? How long are the straps? How scratch resistant it is. At least the bezel looks like it has some scratches on it. How much does it weight and can you notice it easily. Points like these separate the good review from bad. In my opinion.

I really miss Pebble, they were great affordable watches with a great ecosystem. Now you can pick them up for really cheap, and use some mods to install apps again.

The watch is beautiful! But my God is the price tag high! I can't personal justify the cost to look at notifications more quickly. If it was about $150 I would stop and think but still likely not but... 😕

If you're not sure about spending hundreds of dollars on a smartwatch, I'd recommend getting something like the Mi Band 4 from Xiaomi. It does almost everything a full size smartwatch does at a great price of 30-40$. Really happy with mine.

I know you weren’t interested in an Apple Watch Barry and that’s fine, but if you were looking for the best smartwatch that’s about it. The hardware inside all WearOS devices is inherently outdated since Qualcomm hasn’t updated their gear in a couple of years. Apple, by comparison, is running (no pun intended) full steam ahead and keeps on refining the Apple Watch yearly. I do wish it had a 2 display system like the Tickwatch but besides the battery life there is a larger abundance of apps, more storage (16GB in the Series 4 vs the 4GB you see in WearOS devices) and a much more advanced SIP (faster processor and LTE included if you want).

I thought I remembered a collab mattress between sleep number and tempurpedic. I google it one time to see if it's real and you can cue six months of random mattress advertisements every time I load RU-vid on my phone.

I noticed that these watches have been made in a way that most people make electronic devices. The thing that set Steve Jobs apart from other people in the tech world was he had a user experience in mind and built a device around it. However, most people make a device and build a user experience around it. What I'm seeing is a device that heavily resembles a watch, but doesn't seem intuitive enough to be it's own device that's worth buying. For example, in the early 2000's before 2007, smart phones had tacky physical keyboards, clunky user interfaces, limited use cases that have an advantage over PCs, and an unintuitive experience. That was the case until Apple introduced the Iphone and invented an intuitive and well made smart phone that would be the blueprint for future phones. I'm thinking that someone out there will take the extra time and creativity to reinvent the smart watch and make it be more intuitive than a smartphone or PC for many use cases, and lay the foundation for smart watches for the future. What do you guys think?
