Guys...I am just beginning to work with deities and i have been suggested to work with a deity i kinda find comfort in their associations...and the first goddess i ever knew of was medusa and I kinda see her as a representative of hope and second chance because of how she did not give up on her life totally even after everything she went through...And I am not sure if this is valid,but when i was a slyrherin though the animal i find most comfort with is a cat...so guys I need help
When I first started working with Sobek I was given so many warnings about how dangerous he is and how he might eat you and stuff. And it damaged the beginning of my relationship with him and I'm still recovering from that. I was scared (and still am a little) of him, even though I know rationally I shouldn't be. Is he stern? Yes. Is he dangerous? No. Honestly, since working with him I feel better than I've ever felt. I've always had a hard time standing up for myself and taking care of myself. And Sobek is helping me change that. I'm so thankful for him and I wish I could remove that doubt in my mind. So right now I'll have to settle for chipping it away a bit at a time.
When I first started with Hekate she would appear to me as this face with black eyes, a thin nose and sharp teeth. Many people would say that was probably not her, or proves that she is dangerous, but she was making a point. She had already shown me that I could trust her, and that face was daring me to prove that I did. Once I got over the fear her face changed. It is up to us to do what Jacob is suggesting here and chip away at our fears and disbelief. That is our sacrifice to make and it is a huge one, the greatest offering.

It took a bit of shadow work to eventually remove my old mindset, but as I deepened my practice and learned more about deities, I eventually grew comfortable. I still identify as Catholic, but at the same time, I'm also comfortable working with Bridgid, Hekate, and eventually Anubis. 😁

It takes time and practice, so find the way that best suits you. If you need help, like most of us do, just offer your hand and you’ll receive what you need. ☺️ It may take you days, weeks, and even this entire lifetime, but that’s okay. what matters the most is how you will eventually accept and embrace your Shadow, because it is still a part of You. i was told that Loki was a dangerous deity to work with. then i actually spoke to someone who did and received signs from him. he is great to work with, although if you make him angry he will let you know apparently. thankfully i haven't had this happen

I can vouch for the "He'll let you know" part of him. He knows I hate grasshoppers and if I make him upset he will torture me with them. He also has quirks that he just does because he finds it funny, I can't even begin to tell you how many times he's hidden my car keys because he thought it was funny. Also when I talk with him via pendulum, sometimes he will move it just because he likes how it moves, not to communicate. Funny stuff.
I can share a little about Hinduism! The basic idea is that divinity transcends form and therefore can take many/any/all forms. At its most general, it’s taught as Brahman - the stuff that reality is molded from that you yourself are not separate from either. In fact, the only way to truly know it is to find it at the center of your conscious experience - you might call it the true self, higher self, atman, or soul. When you connect with divinity in any form - a guru, devas (deities as described here), chemical experience, whatever - you are really connecting with yourself. A great saint Ramana Maharshi once said “God, guru, and self are not different”. If you find yourself attracted to a certain deity, by all means pursue them, love them, and dive into the mystery, but also ask what it is about yourself that draws you to them and makes the two of you one

Yes, I’ve been thinking very similarly as well. As a former member of the church, I can attest that it was very damaging to me spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and even physically(or at least encouraged me to damage myself physically). I’m also very thankful for anyone who calls out the church, of course not in a condemnatory way as the church may have done to other religions. But in a loving way, as a kind of heads-up. A type of heads-up I wish I had before getting involved in the church.

Well, research is key for many things, and I would strongly advocate it for this instance. What did people do in Viking days to honor him, and what do practicers of Ásatru (a modern rendition of the old Norse religion) do now? If you can’t find anything on this (mostly because he wasn’t seen as a very friendly god) then you may want to look into what Ásatru does for other gods in the religion and adapt that as you see fit. Although, you may want to consider his motives in this; he is the god of mischief and trickery. Though, of course, if you really believe you’ve been helped by him, you’ll want to give him proper tribute.
I recommend checking Lokean Welcoming Committee on tumblr, they have a lot of helpful resorces. But honestly there isn't any one unified tradition because there isn't any proof of historical worship. He will probably come ask for what he wants, but some common offerings are whiskey, cinnamon, coffee, red foods and anything sweet, even ridiculously sweet.
Loki is a lot of fun. He’ll test you in ways you never expect. But he will help make you more resilient and appreciate the humor in life. He’s not as intimidating as you think, and he’s not evil. He’s chaotic, but to prove a point. He’s the patron of the outsiders and the misunderstood. That’s what I’ve gathered while working with him through my craft in college. When i was 8 i discovered my first god. He was Poseidon. I was on a boat with my father, then him and i had a conversation. I didn't know who he was until i asked him. He is actually really friendly and i recommend working with him

I see evil and dangerous as two separate conversations. I think on this the literature and the history if you are going to read it you should be mindful of it. Not all the cautionary stuff comes from Christians rewriting things. I see gods and magick alike the way I see electricity. Electricity powers my laptop and heats my house, but if I jam a metal knife into an electrical outlet it is going to go badly for me. But if you are informed, take precautions and are respectful you will be just fine. That covers most people. Nature has creative and destructive forces but is neither good, nor evil. Just don't go running around under trees in a lighting storm is all. :)
I mainly work with deities because when I started out doing witchcraft, I was just about to graduate high school with limited ways to get around and was strongly discouraged from going out (as in beyond the block) very often unless I had to do something like work. This was the suburb so nature is few and far between. The Gods were the only way I could regularly work with nature (I see them as personifications of concepts, aspects of nature and the psyche). Even now, living in a city, I need to adapt to very few expressions of nature around here. Not that it's a bad thing; a lot of energies can flourish in the city. Even now there's a lot of my practice that has more shamanic techniques than nature-based practices that's common in paganism because I simply don't live near a lot of nature. The first deity who reached out to me is considered a personification of Death. The second, according to mythology, had to be appeased to stop a culling. The third I never see recommended for beginners because she is considered a "chaos entity" with a lot of "negative energy" (I think in her case it's justifiable). But they accepted me and when I respected them they rewarded me. Death, conflict and change are all inevitable in nature; you can ignore it but it's always going to poke its head around. And they aren't all bad things all the time. Usually they're pretty neutral forces; it's the power I think that makes people scared because having the power over such concepts means that there is a lot that deity has in control.
i work with Set and the Morrigan both, i perked up when they were mentioned lmao but thank you for this video. i tend to attract deities that get the 'dangerous' label and while i've found them to be intimidating, i've never found that they needed that label. again, thank you, this video was great

For me, i don’t believe that gods are really physical, and I believe that the humanoid interpretations are well, interpretations! Instead, I believe that the gods carry a divine consciousness in the elements of nature. For example, when I talk to Selene, a moon goddess, I’m not talking to her as if she is standing there like a person. However, I’m talking to the MOON and the MOON’S CONSIOUSNESS, which happens to be in the form of Selene. It’s really hard to explain
I think they are energies but for example Hecate can be come into form of crow . They can also be humans , after all they are primordial Gods and Goddesses❤️
I think they are happy to have whatever energy you give to them, however you prefer to think about it. Still, whether or not you believe it they definitely can take human form, both in the mind's eye and physically. It is rare for the physical appearance, but that is when you know you are as advanced with them as you can be. It is they who interpret what appearance will be most beneficial based on our interpretations of them. They do us a service in that way. So don't freak out if one day your practice is so strong that Selene proves you wrong by appearing before you :)
I think the most dangerous part of deity work is if you are tricked into working with an entity which either a) is not who they say they are, or b) are manipulating you (or don’t have your best interest at heart).

I called upon Hekate right away because I felt a powerful urge to connect with her in my life. It was very calming and I actually have experienced good things when I talked to her for the first time and connected with her. Overall, a good video. But you can't really say that nothing is dangerous. Fire, water, and air can be dangerous. Why can't a deity be dangerous? Maybe not dangerous by necessity, but under the wrong conditions? Of course then the question is dangerous how? Because something we might perceive as dangerous from one point of view may be in the end beneficial from another point of view
I've been looking into witchcraft over the last week, and I've been wanting some form of a guide on this journey. Like yeah I can watch videos and read books, but I want something of a teacher to help out. Was thinking that a diety might be a good idea, but kept seeing that it's a bad idea for beginner witches. The only risk I can see is tying myself down to a diety early on, and not being able to switch to something that I feel suits me better later.
start with casting a circle and praising the God and Goddess ......start with that that our CREATORS created US in THEIR image. .. if you are meantt to initiate or do work with a specific diety even for a short time .. it will be revealed to you. Perfect Love and Petfect Trust. ... the vengeful God mentality may take a bit to get past .... real deal your emotions intentions .. your genuine gratitude curiosity desire character etc determines the quality of the bond ....
I don't think any deities are dangerous, and certainly not evil, but they can certainly be exhausting or annoying. Different people have different experiences with deities though, and there isn't any deity you shouldn't work with. Some people experience Loki as very loving, some people as intimidating and angry, but most common seems to be experiencing him as whiny and bratty, constantly changing his mind and loving to pull pranks. We all still love him lol
My friend works with him and she mentioned how okay he is, he doesn’t like my friend dealing with bad things so if someone was hurting her he’d handle it for her
If it's anything to do with voodoo, ifa, Orishas, ect that are correlated with family cultures shouldn't be messed with. There are deities that are not meant for everyone. Some folks in the pagan and other cultures tend to try and group together with other practices....NO you have to be INITIATED into some things and no amount of experience with other stuff can grant you access to without a mambo or a godparent. Be sure to discern between open, closed, and universal systems that are ok. There are even deities that will cause you harm if you don't have permission, are of blood descent, or they (deity)don't want to.
I used to be very afraid of Apollo because of his myths and i was very new to the gods and goddesses. I felt so drawn to him i did not care and had to get to know him. He was so much different than in mythology and he is actually very sweet and kind and loving . I am so happy i gave him a chance .

Due to a living situation I formed a blood pact with the Egyptian God Set, and later was contacted by Aphrodite, sadly though recently I've felt that I have been lacking in their eyes and losing their favor, I'm honestly lost on what to do about this situation.
Talk to them. Tell them what's going on in your life. Make them some heart-felt offerings. Ask them if there's anything they want from you... See what happens! In my experience, communication is the most important thing with any deity. Best of luck! :)

My Deities are Hecate which is my main Deity and Horus God and Ra God which Hecate Goddess sent to me . Hecate may look like scary to many but actually she is a compassionate God . She just looks like scary because she is connected to the underworld and witches and witchcraft which is true and lots more but if you respect her and treat her on how she will make you feel then it’s not scary at all ,…like she gave me the energy that she is my teacher and friend not mother, then I give her too an energy of a student and a friend maybe at first because she is truly powerful and her energy is an energy that you haven’t experience yet if you are new to deity work like I was …I was really scared and having second thoughts if I do it or not but I tried my best to understand what she is trying to tell me and what she wants to happen . It is a give and take relationship,she will not control you but from time to time you will go into a initiation that will scare you to death but when you overcome that she will tell you “ see it’s just all inside your mind ,it’s not even true “ She usually tell me this thing 😅 Anyway ,I love her and I adore her and respect her like a teacher . She made me feel secured that I will be ok no matter what ,she is better than human because human will just take you for granted sometimes or most of the times when they know you are weak they will put you down but with Hecate when she knows you are weak she will help you to become strong . She will not let you be put down by others ,I know that ,I always know I have her as a friend and protector and a teacher . Ra God is bit hard to please for me . Horus God is much ok to understand. I’m working to know more about Ra and understand what he wants .

I've been working with hades before i even realized i was a witch, and i'm trying to reconnect that string but heres my advice, Wear jewelry. Skull rings, earrings, bracelets, anything. I wear a black skull ring and a Quartz necklace. If you're able to, maybe take a walk through a forest. Donate some money to a shelter, maybe try meditating in complete darkness (this one is really calming) Basically, just look. Look carefully at your surrondings, where do you see hades? I see him in the artisans that sell me their hand-carved skulls, the volunteers for the pet shelters, the old man who pets every single dog he see's. How do you think hades is going to communicate with you? And just act accordingly, if i've learned anything while working with hades is, TRUST. YOUR. GUT.

If a person is not ready for a certain deity, such as the grinding of Demon Kings. While Arch Demons for the seven deadly sins, will get what is wanted even if it harms a person. Also if working with demons, the joyful reflecting back of energies, so chaotic adolescence will reflect the area back. So I go toward invoking Bifrons, for the calmness and the ability to bind or loosen spirits. With my not caring what witchcraft traditions desire. But evocation requires plenty of chaos, along with a drainage of the body. And if channeling, the obsession, oppression, and entanglement, facilitates the channeling. While the sciences with how to get to replicatable results, is also nice for Bifrons. So my daily actions have reduced getting of the wrong results. And the energy needs rebuilding, with certain deity, so that is why beginners can be steered away from certain mild mannered entities such as Bifrons.

Perhaps it's Wadjet rather than Medusa you are seeking. Medusa is dead. But if you're going for the symbolism go for it. Whatever floats your boat. Also Medusa had two older sisters. Also if you are looking into deity that shares animal aspects I suggest looking into the Egyptian pantheon.
Such a great video. I am one of those people who fallow a goddes that very many people turn their heads questioning me. I follow the goddes hel. She feels like a mother to me. One reason that helps our closeness. I have a lot of health conditions. Mostly chronic pain. The right side of my body needing a crutch to help me walk. The other side the stronger. My body mirrors her own. Being half living and dead.

I had recently got in contact with selene, Greek titan moon goddess, and it just so happened to be the day my cousin's buddies come over. And after I asked her if I could put out her candle and did so with her permission. I just feel so scared. I feel like I messed up big time with a goddess who had saved my life multiple times in the past. I'm going to do a meditation after I type this and see if she's upset at me or not. Because yesterday I started my period and selene is a feminine energy. The day AFTER I contacted her. So I'm kind of nervous..I just hope nothing else happens...
It's normal to feel anxious or nervous with deities, but I want to reassure you that it's highly unlikely that one would ever bring you harm or pain for mild offenses or mistakes. They know we're in a world that leaves us to make up how we worship as we go along - we have no teachers from two thousand years ago! - so please don't worry. Also periods are a sacred thing to all moon goddesses. I would see that as a positive sign not a negative one.

But I'm still a baby witch, and I've researched her a few times for good offerings and the poem I made her but I did do the meditation and she told me that what I did was very dangerous. I always hear on tiktok witches deities being angry and them walking off camera to do something. Do they go and pray to them or give offerings to please them? What happens to them if their gods/goddesses are angry? They make it seem like they get the butt of it and not whatever is making their deity angry. I don't understand and i wish i did, i work with only 2 archangels so i guess they might not be as bound to be angry or what have you so excuse my ignorance.
I'm going to try to be polite while also being honest about what I think ... I don't really take "witches" on TikTok that seriously. I can't imagine someone with a deep relationship with their deity parading drama with that deity on social media. It's weird, and in my personal opinion unrealistic. Deities of course may want to guide you, or might disapprove of something you've done, but this kind of thing seems completely off base.

Because deities can have human characteristics, you can do things that would offend them. You can make it up to them by offerings and apologizing for offending them. It can be easy to offend them if you forget to respect them and approach them with respect. Like maybe you try to have two completely different deities that don't work well together aid you in spellwork, that could offend not one but two deities. That's why its important to research your deities to prevent little mistakes like that.
I’m a super baby pagan and I want to worship Hades and Dionysus, I don’t understand contacting them no matter how much I research. I’ve heard you have to contact both and confirm you can work with both. I’ve also heard that there are a bunch of rules for alters. I was wondering if anyone can give advice for working with either (I’m leaning towards Dionysus)
i just found your channel and it has honestly changed so much for me. i knew kemetism was originally an african religion and I was absolutely scared that me feeling a strong connection to that pantheon would somehow be appropriating culture somehow since there are tons of articles about how often modern paganism appropriates culture. i haven't put up a connection to any deity yet (although I feel a pull towards Nut for some reason) because I first want to learn about protection and wards better. Am I doing right? am I overthinking too much?

Christianity on the other hand, is force on their children through the paddle, switch, and threats of hell fire for eternity. I went to a Southern Baptist Church cult back in 1980's, why do I call them a .. cult ? Cause they tried to make me believe my grand parents were going to hell cause they were Catholics. As a grade schooler I seen the bull crap they teach in their Sunday schools.
Yes, deities do choose you, but they also have actual personalities and can be very protective of the culture they have guarded for thousands of years. As well, it is safe to say that some ethnic deities and practices would be simply off limits to other peoples. Why should they not have some deities or practices solely for them? For a Caucasian person, our race having oppressed Africans so long, some care should be taken when petitioning an African god. I myself would go very humbly before them, and only if I felt a definitive yes I would know that I had nothing to worry about.

I also 100% agree that some practices are kept in that culture (I've heard the use of Palo Santo for example is off limits for some) that said there is a point where I just wonder if deities would rly put more weight on ancestry than having a new person believe in their beautiful power and just *this whole thing*
@@Alex-by1zq Definitely depends on the deity. One thing I think we take for granted is that they can see more clearly who we are than even we can, so if you go to any deity with a humble heart and a desire to learn, most should be happy to have you.

I just don’t know what to believe. Then there’s that Christian mindset I got engraved into me that infernals or demons are evil and angels are so good so I’m trying to rework my brain because I don’t want to think that way.
i would say yes ! my patron ( main deity ) is apollo, and you should do some research and maybe try to reach out to him, or see if he's trying to reach out to you. i've been working with apollo gently, i haven't been hardcore into it. but he's very casual about it. but you should still have respect. he's very easy-going, i heavily recommend watching videos about offerings, and working with apollon. and yes, that dream, could very well be a sign. as, my friend had done a tarot reading, and then she had listed all the similarities to my life and his symbols. and we have many things in common. so, just look into it !
I’ve been very interested in Lugh and he contacted me through an oracle leading and it just all made sense and I want to work with him. I hope to get a pendulum soon so I can truly ask him if he wants me to work with him/worship him.

I'm a baby witch as well from what I understand they worship from all deites really and it can be a deity that you are drawn to or is sending signs to you and I do believe you can do it with multiple deites from different pathons
Hi Maliyah. You can certainly work with as many deities as you feel drawn to. Many people work with deities from different pantheons without any difficulty at all. Just do your research. As you're new to this, I'd pick a just a couple to start with, and work with them first. You can always learn about and contact new deities as you get more confident. Good luck!

You can worship any god from different countries and cultures, but remember to always confirm they are the real deity (via tarot, pendulum, meditation, etc) I’m still young, but for example I communicate with the Celtic goddess Artio, the Irish god Aengus Og and apparently (She appeared today in meditation) Kahlii
I never had fear, persay, when it comes to working with deities, but I do have a diagnosed anxiety disorder so I get really worried they won't want to work with me. I'm working on that, but it's still not great.
In our current world system you would think mutual respect and admiration for differences would be easier and more common. I was born pagan but never thought I would do any sort of deity work, and that if I did it would be with a god we know (like a greek or egyptian or norse or roman). Instead, on Samhain, during a difficult transitional period in my life, during a bout of half awake sleeplessness, I got contacted by Stolas who said he was protecting me from nightmares (mind you I’ve had auditory hallucinations while half-conscious before, but always in random voices in gibberish, not one consistent voice with clear definable words and sentences). I never heard of him and only saw a picture once, and upon research turns out he teaches everything that I work with in my witchcraft (astronomy, herbs, and precious stones) and is seen as a psychological exploration. Of course that I, an already weird person, get a weird deity to work with!
Definitely make sure you are well versed with protection and banishment before starting work with a deity! Deities are nothing to be afraid of but a lot of harmful spirits pretend to be deities and could get attached to you. If you really think it's nemesis, learn about her first (her history, what deities she gets along with and which she doesn't in case you want to work with others in the future) and ask her for specific signs. If you have any doubt, there is nothing wrong with just worshipping a deity at first without directly working with them

So it goes to show how the old Gods and Goddesses were literally demonized by Judao Christian doctrine..that said there is good and bad in every aspect of the universe and as long as a person manifests light with good intentions it will repel bad energy and bad spirits/entities

Divination. Tarot, runes, weird dreams etc… are always good but generally my method is with candles and tarot. Ask for that specific deity to send a sign, and then wait for signs of theirs to show up. As an example Hera is associated with a peacock.
How can one identify an entity one might have interaction with? I am referring to specific people who claim they are having these interactions with ______ (left blank intentionally so as not to influence possible solutions to questions) - how do they know/can they verify it IS in fact what they think it is?
What if you have lived within chaos all your life....that you dont know the flip side....what does that say? Does this point towards a particular relationship you should or should not move towards? Ie youve felt most at peace within a pandemic (not about the pain it has caused others) but just admist the turmoil... you felt more balanced and prepared?
this may be silly but i’m just slightly confused. I’ve been thinking of taking the wiccan path for awhile and i’ve been learning about the wheel of the year. Definitely resonates with me so i love that. The sabbats represent the growth and development of the goddess and god throughout the annual cycle and seasons of the earth, but when it talks about the goddess transitioning from mother to crone for example, do i interpret that same depiction of the goddess as the deity that i currently work with? Sounds confusing. What i mean is, let’s say i work with Aphrodite, would i interpret her into the wheel of the year and the symbolic meanings of the sabbats? Same with the god as well. Would i interpret Apollo (for example) dying during Samhain and then him being rebirthed by the Goddess (Aphrodite) during Yule? Might be a silly or obvious question but it’s always good to ask. I currently don’t work with a deity, i’m just learning about the beliefs of them
Hmm I would ask a Wiccan about this. Because wicca was created to honor the Great Goddess (in other words, all goddesses rolled into one divine feminine) I'm not sure how an individual deity would represent every Sabbat. I'm sure some could, like perhaps Persephone or Freya, but it would be difficult to put someone like Bast into the wheel of the year archetypes. Personally I honor different deities for different Sabbats, even ones I don't work with much outside of that Sabbat. Like Ostara I honor Persephone, and that's the only time of year I do. But on Yule I honor Arianrhod even though I work with her all the time. I'd ask a Wiccan if you're serious about Wicca, but if you're more eclectic than go with whatever you wanna do ⚘

I agree with you honest. Because some of them are not that bad to work with SM a really good to work with if you're actually in the same stuff that their it and understand them. Others are really hard to work with and very dangerous to actually work with. You mentioned about Aphrodite. To be honest with you she's actually she's good to work with it not good to work with because she could be dangerous to work with. I actually had my experience with her and I actually had to let her go. Because her night don't get on the same page and she was not very happy with it and let's just say her and a trickster decide to work together it did not end very well. Well Hera end up finding out and she was not very happy with Aphrodite. Hera and Athena have been beside me since I was probably born and like I said in your last video that Hera basically saved my life and I owe it to her. I know there's a lot of people that talk bad about Hera but to be honest with you does have a kind heart and yeah she might get jealous because of her husband but to be honest with you Hera is pretty cool goddess to be honest with you. I really do love working with her and Athena and I always have faith in them I still need to learn a lot on Athena I understand her. But it's like I said I love working with them and also you mention about an altar. I actually have an altar of Hera and a little bit of Athena. But I mostly connected with Hera.

Hecate is the goddess of those new to witchcraft and my first deity if you plan on getting serious and not dabbling, as she will hold you to your promises. She is the best to teach you discipline and consistent practice. Always a good pick. Who did you choose?

Mercury is easier to chant as Mer Cur ee, warning since he/ or It is a god/ spirit of knowledge, traveling messagers, and moves as hot quick silver with a flash of lightning. From time to time your mind will get " flooded " with thoughts and information you will know that are not your own. Also knowledge is meaningless unless it is acted on, so get ready of getting strange ideals and acting on them. So you needed to be well grounded in your community for ideals and actions to be proper guided. Or you be living in a mess of half read books and unfinish projects. Also people seem to forget that Hermes/ Mercury other also being a god of magic and the Romans identify him as Wotan/ Odin, is a war god. @@Hiuglory " community, " family friends, close neighbors that you have dinner with. In one regard gods are there to help you to help others. You don't have to become a mythical hero trying to save a given city state from a monster or invading army. Just learn to help out those that live in your surrounding area. Help when you can if you can, and don't feel guilty when you can't. Guilt and Shame spirits will try to bring you down so you will feel unworthy.
if you have fear of working with anything thats good that means you either shouldnt or have enough respect to know its not a fad and not the path for you. however it is within the unsafe bets the best lessons are perhaps learnt the ones were you get your fingers burnt keeps you from the flame.
