IMHO, the studio needs a rug. A really gaudy 70’s disco style, orange and brown number. Though that could just be the general aesthetic of this video influencing my imagination 😅

Keep up the great videos I have found loads more bands cause of your channel. Love it. I remember seeing The Darkness back when you first headlined Leeds festival it was a blast hope to see you this year.
I’d only seen that one music vid and found it boring, therefore didn’t look into them further… 🤷♀ now youtube has recommended this saccharine music-nerd analysis of that song, and now I’m even less interested in this band…. There’s your answer :)
Holy cow! I adore this song. What a breath of fresh air! I love the sincerity, the presentation. It just gives me chills how awesome this is. I'm a big Raspberries, Millennium, Big Star, Beatles, Beach Boys, Left Banke fan, and this is all of the awesome stuff of those bands rolled up into a perfect song. I can't believe that someone put this out in 2024. It's great news! This musical sound is still ALIVE!
Some of the magic of their music... is the fact it's recorded to tape. Unlike most other bands (and don't know where they get the budget)... but they're mixing the entire thing in the analog realm. That adds a lot to their authenticity.
Their work on the last couple Weyes Blood albums, and the Tim Heidecker Fear of Death album, is outstanding as well. Stellar musicians, stellar songwriters.
I love them. So many great songs and both brothers sing beautifully and play all instruments. It’s impressive to find music that sounds like this. Great Melodie’s/harmonies. The albums ‘Songs for the general public’ & ‘Everything Harmony’ are both my favourites at the moment. I can’t get enough of this band.
@@SuziQ.The drum fill pattern is different in the Lemon Twigs song (one less beat) than in 'Just Like Heaven'. Of all the bits the brothers may have borrowed from other songs or bands, this isn't one, which is ironic. I think the drum fill simply brought the other to Justin's mind.
Mix of Nick Lowe, Rasberries, a little Beach Boys, Byrds, and some Freddie in vocals. Visually kind of Cheap Trick meets the Beatles on the set of HELP! This is the first new( to me ) band I've heard in a long while that I didn't have to make an effort to like. Thanks for turning us on to a great band!

Ill admit at the time I only heard one song by The Darkness and I hated it (but then I was a metal elitist back then). I'm going to go back and check out some albums. Justin seems like a really good guy and his taste in music is quite good.
Yes, the back catalogue is very much worth listening to. I did the same thing. TD are a very underrated band, the level of musicianship is quite incredible. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Just remember that lyrically there's a lot of humour. I feel like there's a similarity with The Darkness and AC/DC, there's humour and a lot of almost irony in what they're doing while simultaneously smashing it musically. I think if you go in taking them too seriously you won't "get it", but if you go in with a clear mind you will

Tidied up, it looks an awful lot like my nan's council house in the early 1990s. She had exactly the same sideboard. She tarted hers up with an array of crocheted doilies and a phenomenally ugly crystal pineapple.
BONA FIDE GENIUSES!!! i can't believe their 2016 first album recorded when they were teenagers - it's mind blowing ! do yourselves a favour and check out their 4 albums to hear the astounding depth & breadth of their creative powers
Their commitment to real musicianship is evident in every note, and it's incredibly refreshing to see a new band that values both craftsmanship and melody. My only gripe is that it's a little TOO retro leaning, without being forward thinking enough.. That said it's as if they've tapped into a timeless reservoir of creativity, where substance and skill are at the forefront. There is a band from my home country doing similar things called The Doublejumps, I'd highly suggest listening to them too. Maybe there is hope for the next gen of rock? Who knows. I'm enjoying it though!
Oh my god give me a break. This guy has created 100+ fake profiles to promote his/her/their boring band under videos of literally every young band of today, lemon twigs included but not only them. Now they came up with a more refined strategy, writing a rant about lemon twigs to sound credibile, while in fact they are only promoting their band
You know I was smiling the entire time. Thank you for covering them again. Aren't they.the absolute best?? 😊🤩😁 Yes they are brothers. Brian born 1997 and Michael born 1999. I had to tell Brian he was a baby when I was in high school after their show. 😆 In the video, the part where they are going to buy a suit reminds me of that scene in the movie Carrie when they are going to buy Tommy Ross a tux for the prom and his friend is all like "I don't have a tuxedo body and I don't like ruffles." Even the camera angle is similar, I wonder if they were thinking of that or referencing that. The part at the beginning where they are standing side by side, I feel like they have to be referencing "I Want It All" by Queen. Individually, they are two of my favorite vocalists. Two other songs that display their individual vocal ability: Brian on "Corner Of My Eye" and Michael on a live version of "Hog" which can be found here on RU-vid. It's just him on piano, Brian on guitar. They blow me away with how great they sound, just the two of them. I hope you get to see them live very soon. When you spoke with Dan, and he mentioned the Twigs, of course someone posted that video to their fan group (not me, someone beat me to it!). Their mom Susan commented that you and Dan quote, "seem like very nice and cool guys!" She also posted an article of your brother listing his favorite festival bands and the Twigs were one of them. Thanks again, they're one of my absolute favorites and I adore them. Wonderful live band. Michael gives great hugs too. 🩵😄
My favourite record so far this year, closely followed by the new Kula Shaker - Natural Magick, which you might want to hear, if you haven't already. Re The Lemon Twigs, when he shreds his voice towards the end, it's very Eric Carmen/Raspberries.
I am far too ADD-brained to even fathom approaching that Brian Wilson/Jellyfish level of vocal layering but that doesn't curb my appreciation. Sometimes you want to paint in monochrome like Scott Walker and sometimes you want Polyphonic Spree colors.
I hear The Byrds - the fourth B! Maybe without so much folk guitar, but definitely a 60's vibe there. Harmonising like on Turn, Turn, Turn and Eight Miles High. In fact on listening to Eight Miles High again after a long time, it is so quintessentially psychedelic and yes I checked, there is a Rickenbacker or two in there.

It looked fine to me before. I liked all the things. The brown wall just looks very brown now, especially with the same brown sideboard and floor too. I liked the lighter accents in the background.

two Rickenbackers (one a12) and a Hofner bass (and one presumes Ludwig drums?) does scream A Hard Day's Night gear perhaps a touch TOO much? I like them but I'd like them a bit more if they'd take a step or two AWAY from pastiche.
They're the real deal. Hooks, addictive melodies, songwriting skills, performance capabilities, humor, energy - the whole package. Sure they're derivitive. That's precisely why we like them! And they're not shy about giving credit to their influences. We've been longing for this.
This song totally floored me. I can hear a more Rasperries thing that anything. They also expertly copped the Beach Boys as well. Listem to the Raspberries' Overnight Ensarion (Hit Record). The Big Star bit is really Byrds.😢

The Lemon Twigs! Love them. I also love the way they appear to have inherited a set of genes that have been lying dormant in a storage unit for a couple decades. So few people have that face nowadays. It isn’t just their fashion sense. They look like Jim Henson invented them!

Justin actually introduced myself to The lemon twigs and I have been a fan ever since however , I do feel compared to their initial output , that they have “stepped off the gas “ slightly and have resorted to a more cliched formula. I forever watch their performance on KEXP ( Brian delivering one of the greatest guitar solos of all time on small victories) also Their Amoeba gig and their ultimate Glastonbury appearance . For a true indication of their progress , I would recommend from the masters of that genre , try listening to Tommy James and the shondells album , I think we’re alone now . I would like to see The twigs adopt a slightly harder edge and less partridge family with Brian truly letting rip on guitar a tour de force if ever there was one ….
9:50 Yes well i am a sucker for a jangly guitar pop song from any era.Dont mind this mainly as they have most of my fave jangly bands rolled into 1 like the ones mentioned by Juzzo and people here. No new ground broken but ok. Oh and Juzzo,Diaddario's main biz was making guitar strings.I would say my 12 string acoustic has 11 of them on it as we speak.

I love the Twigs! Being a 68 year old musician who loves Todd, is how I was turned onto them. I still believe their low-fi debut release "What We Know" 1995 is their best, with their last recording "Everything Harmony" second. Can't wait to hear the new one!
David needs to be closer and yes, the DJ deck would look great on the console.... I don't feel like they're pastiche. They're inspired. The Lemon Twigs are so joyous and refreshing. Thanks for covering them again!

The K’s one of my favourite local bands from Newton and Warrington have a debut album “I Wonder What The World Knows out on pre order and they have been selling out shows on their recent Uk tour.
