Vancouver is a great hockey team. Totally capable of going deep. I believe they have the best goalie in the game right now. As a life long Oilers fan, I can actually say without feeling like a total homer that this team is the deepest team we’ve had since the 80’s. Hopefully this is the year. However, there’s still Van, Dallas, Colorado, Vegas, Nashville in the way. Every single one of those teams are legit. So anything is possible.

PDO the top 5 out of 7 players on the Canucks outperformed there expected seasons. Boesser 33 XG to 40 G JT 28 XG to 37 G Petterson 27 XG to 34G Hoglander XG 18 to 24 G Joshua XG 14 to 18 G and Hughes 11 XG to 17 G. I expect a real come down to earth season for Vancouver the way I saw the Seattle crash happening still likely a playoff team but it will definitely be more uncomfortable than last year.

That subtraction needed before the season wil most likely be Ceci or Kane and getting either of them off the team would make the Oil better and give them the cap flexibility to add at the deadline. Vancouver, if anything, sidegraded during the offseason while EDM definitely got better.

It takes alot to lift that cup. You need to establish your game, enforce your style. The Oilers were able to do that against just about everybody, that series against the Canucks included. Edmonton won games 6 and 7 because the Canucks stopped being the agressors after going up 3-2. The Canucks almost were able to to come back after going down 3-0 in game seven, but it was too late. Dallas did the same thing against the Oilers except they did it after going up 2-1 and going up multiple goals in game four. Florida almost made that mistake in the Finals. But they found their game because of the extra day of rest. If game 7 was a day earlier, I think the result may have been different. But the deeper, and tougher team got their crap together just in time. The Oilers are very top heavy, it's impossible to have incredible depth in the salary cap era. Especially for a Canadian team. Until we see different I think it's Oilers, Canucks, Leafs, Jets, Senators, Canadians. In that order. Not really any insight as that was how they finished this past year. But I think Edmonton follows the path Florida blazed this year. They go all in, and win their redemtion tour.

On paper the Oilers win as McDrai is hard to top. But Vancouver is being built as playoff team and ideal team for Tocchet to coach. Demko being in net makes a world of difference as our Defense game was pretty much a shell to protect silovs. Demko in net allows the team to be more offensive. Also this playoffs it was kind of a forgone conclusion the pacific winner was going to finals to expect a team to go through 3 hard matchups Vegas, Colorado then Edmonton wasnt feasible Dallas got burned out by the end of edmonton series. Will Edmonton be able to handle the Canucks physicality against them next year, maybe but i expect them to be more worn down if they face us again. Winning yhe division imo should gove the biggest advantage as I expect Vegas wont blow 3rd spot away like last year. Though most of these reporters are hopping on the Preds bandwagon.
