A review of lais dcc 8 pin dcc decoder with stay alive + 21 pin dcc decoders + 21 pin to 8 pin convertors full installation and test with price comparison www.ebay.co.uk...
I concur. I've used BLW provided Lais decoders for a few years now and the service and products are excellent. Program the decoder before attaching the stayalive. BTW, don't twist the wires together when soldering, it creates a weak spot that can break in the future. Instead tin both straight wires, put them side by side (ends on overlapping) then solder. Regards Julian
Thanks for that advice. It's obvious now u mention it as the programming track is lower voltage and the stay alive is trying to take all the current hence causing the issue... lesson learned lol 😆
Lais chips are good. I have used them for many years and they are excellent value for money. Great review on them, and a shout out to Brian at BLW Technical Services. Thanks for sharing.
I use to buy them direct from lais in china, but the costs went up so theres was no saving over buying them from UK suppliers. I`ve used blw for them for about 3 years from Ebay, Some give them flack because they ripped the designs from other well known manufacturers, i`ve bought there 8 pin boards to DCC convert some old locos.
Did you try changing the bog standard speaker out for the iPhone speaker to see if you get the same issue? Just remember it needs to be 8ohm for TTS 👍 also check the red and black wire connection to the chip itself as they can be faulty and have 💩 connections.
@@stocktonjunction Yes they are but if you watch Jenny's video she explains the shortcomings of the ones you are buying. Cheapest might not always be best.
