Love the honest review of these places. It’s good to see that you’re a bit aghast at the cost of goods and the attitude of staff in the store you went into 🙌. As a New Yorker you really do know what’s great about your city, I really appreciate this. I totally agree that top of the rock is the best viewing platform, haven’t been to Edge so can’t comment on that one. I’m with your friend Evelyn, the Brooklyn Bridge is fabulous for visitors. ❤

I find the Brooklyn Bridge chaotic too. Unpopular opinion: i loved going there during COVID bc it was so peaceful any time of day!

I visited NYC for the first time at the beginning of December this past year and your videos were super helpful. I walked the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise and it was not very crowded and same for Dumbo. Such a great experience! I also did Summit and while the views were amazing and at times was a cool experience it was very crowded and lots of people doing photo shoots in some of the best spots and wouldn’t leave for others to get the same shot. The worst part was waiting nearly 45 minutes to even get up to the top and standing in a weird dark tunnel. I almost missed the sunset for which I paid extra to see.

I was in Brooklyn recently and compared with five years ago, more people were having the famous Instagram pose in Washington Street. It is NYC's equivalent to Abbey Road in London where people recreate the famous shot of The Beatles on the cover of the "Abbey Road" album. I agree as well that having a photo on the Brooklyn Bridge in winter is still difficult because from my experience it can be as busy as during the warmer months. I do urban photography and the crowds can be a challenge if I want to get a decent shot of stand in the right spot to capture images of the buildings, structures or streetscape without people blocking the way or dominating the image.

Agree about The Summit. I visited right after lockdown and it was super crowded even then. I can't imagine what has come of it since. Also the architecture is made of cold steel and glass. I love TOP OF THE ROCK. Plus Rockefeller Center is experiencing such a cool renaissance.

I enjoyed this video! I recently went to NYC and stayed in the West Village and passed by that boutique multiple times! I did the Summit experience and would still recommend despite the crowds- I loved that every floor had something different and then it was fun to have a drink on the rooftop at the end.

Fabulous video as usual Sarah, you are the best by far. Your honesty is 2nd to none. Food for thought, Imagine if you were one of those staff working in the shop which has just had terrible reviews about their customer service, even from the Great Sarah funk.😀 I guarantee if you go back in six months they will have not addressed these issues and it would still be the same, which I always find inexplicable. I just got back from NY 2days ago! Thank you so much for all of your tips!! We went to Brooklyn bridge before 9am and it was much less people than I thought! I highly recommend going there in the early morning for single shot and have a breakfast sandwich on the bridge :)

I think my favorite place to get away from the crowds when I lived in NYC was The Cloisters. Great views and most New Yorkers don't even know it exists.

I have to say that I love summit. I was there in the end of October and then again in the beginning of December and I wasn't looking for crazy Instagram pictures. I went because I love the city and I love the view and I just think it's a fantastic experience. I might have had to wait to get that perfect shot in front of the Chrysler building or the empire State building, but I wasn't going for a single-shot experience. I think it's absolutely worth going if your first timer or if you are a seasoned veteran which I would consider myself.

Agree about the Summit, I’m glad I visited but never again, it saddens me that a good holiday snap & to mark living in the moment is no longer a thing & it’s all about the gram & not taking in the experience, these people are so rude as well if you get in there way! I was thinking about buying my tickets for Summit...Not sure now. My trip: Day 1: 7.5h of car and MJ Show if possible Day 2: Pokemon Go Fest and walk at Central Park, Summit (or another City View) Day 3: Clinton St. Baking Company, 9/11 Memorial and another 7.5h of car. Will continue to watch your videos until then.

The views at Summit are the best in the city, by far! But, the IG crowd is ridiculous. Laying on the floors, hogging the windows…I wrote to Summit about this and they said they would never put time limits or constraints on guests taking photos because it’s all good publicity for them. It’s “how they get the word out.” Also, just want to throw this in the comments, that as of June 1st Top of the Rock is charging an extra $15 per ticket if you come during “Prime Time” which is 12 pm-9 pm. Basically, all day. The upside? Nobody is there. Three weeks ago, we basically had the place to ourselves at 1 pm.

I'm not sure why a picture has to be taken with no people in the view to be good. I mean I get wanting the street view of the Manhattan Bridge to not have all those people posing for pictures or crouched down taking them, but not the people walking by on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Um, am I the only one making the connection between the negative aspects you cite for these places (crowds, snooty service) and their very popularity on social media? It'a a direct cause-and-effect relationship. How would you like dealing with endless hordes of Tik Tokers invading your store with cameras in hand, unlikely to actually buy anything? You can do better, Sarah. But I'll give you credit for spotting one example before the other NYC RU-vidrs: The Summit is ruined......
