It's so unfortunate that Nvidia took what miners and scalpers did to the 30 series MSRP and baked it into the 40 series and killing the hype for a new generation. I'm happy for the people that have 4090 money to burn, but hard pass for me

I can't say that I'm interested in any GPU that's MSRP is over $800 USD. I can only manage about $900 USD after taxes and shipping for a GPU every 5-6 years. I bought a 2080 at launch for MSRP, and I managed to snag 3080 at MSRP just a few months ago, but Nvidia has literally gone insane with their prices. They want to keep that shortage profit margin.

@futureb1ues

@@jamescunningham8092 It was confusing because turbo was the default for processors and pushing the turbo button actually turned off turbo and put it into a cutdown mode closer to an older spec cpu. But you had to reboot the PC for it take effect. The reasoning was that back in the day, older software actually could crash when running on a cpu clocked too high, so being able to throttle down the cpu allowed older programs to be compatible.

We just cannot get them here without going through a third part of a third party. Making returns in case of defects just a year long endeavor. Hoping to see this brand pick up its support here in the states. We really need another high quality option now that EVGA is out of the gpu game. I've seen few Western RU-vid channels actually bash these colorful gpus but from my personal experience these gpus are nothing less than premium class gpus. It's certainly way above than the msi ventus or gigabye gpus I've used so far. Also the desktop app experience of it is much more stable than asus gpu tweak although the UI can be less user friendly. So out of the tuf, GB gaming, or FE, I wanted tuf first and got it 1 min after launch on Newegg.. it’s an amazing card. And it made 0 sense to get the OC or strix. Maybe if the strix was 15-200 more but even then it doesn’t make sense. The tuf OC is the biggest nonsense of them all tho imo…. But just for fun you should test the oc and base to see if there is any measurable dif. I doubt it’s more than 1% either way. Maybe it’s binned slightly higher but I doubt that too..

The TUF Gaming is by far my favorite 4090. I love the understated looks with just a touch of bling. I don't think they even launched the base version on the TUF Gaming 4090 in Canada. For that matter I didn't see any of the ASUS cards in Canada, I know there were some though because they're now in their hands of scalpers asking 30% - 50% above MSRP. Thankfully they don't appear to be selling. I've seen MSI and Zotac 4090s pop into stock at retail AIB prices, and they don't last too long. I'm in no rush at all, and I'm hoping the AMD cards are in a large enough volume that they're more available. We need this shortage sh*t to end, there's no reason for it anymore. If there's a shortage it's, by design to keep prices high. Otherwise I expect we will see better pricing soon.

@Jesse M yeah I ended up getting an MSI Gaming X Trio, but then the SUPRIM came into stock so I bought that too... My Trio should be here next week, but I won't get the SUPRIM until a week or so later. I'm hoping the TUF Gaming shows up before I have to keep one of these. Then I'll order it and take back both the MSI cards. The sucky part is I missed a drop of the TUF on Dec 14th 👎😕 If I have to keep one of the MSI cards... I'll probably keep the SUPRIM, I think it's just a better looking card, I don't know I'll have to see them in person and see which one runs better etc...

@Jesse MM So my Gaming X Trio arrived a few days ago and I've resisted opening the box so that I could return it after the Suprim arrived. However, I cancelled the Suprim today because I was able to get the TUF Gaming when it magically appeared in stock! It's supposed to be here on the 3rd of Jan, and I'm a happy guy. I'll head out to Best Buy and take back the Gaming X Trio and with my $1,300 in gift cards in hand I'll apply them to the ASUS TUF Gaming 4090 to ease the purchase price of it a bit. I'm pumped though, it was the ASUS was the card I really wanted, & I didn't really feel any excitement getting either of the MSI cards. This one though I'm really looking forward to getting it into my rig and gaming. I might have to take a couple of days off work 😂

Sad for such expensive cards that the OC versions don't really offer any meaningful changes in terms of components/build vs the base level cards.
@josepht1575

something to consider when looking at card prices, you should look up which cards are using reference boards and or what components they use on those boards. The reference boards use garbage whch won't last much past warranty terms. Custom boards seem to be built better than fe which is built better than reference boards. If you're paying crazy money on these cards, I for one want good components.

For a conclusive cooler comparison we would need noise-normalized temps at, e.g., 45 dBA. Any chance we get those in the next 4090 video? Plus coil whine observations of course. Otherwise love your content!

I would love the 1600 tuf 4090. Want to sell me yours? Been waiting for more stock to come in but Nvidia is waiting for more 30 series cards to sell first. Guess I’ll see what AMD bring to the table

NVIDIA is not putting out enough 4090s either which is why its in short supply. Both cards should only be looked at if you are in desperate need of higher than 100 fps on 4K. 1080p and 1440p users don't waste your money on this new generation of GPUs, the RTX 30 and even older RTX 20 Series fulfilled those lower resolutions, and even topped it (1080p).

60MHz - you couldn't adjust by 60Hz :) I love the Aorus Master 4090 - not for the LED screen though, just because cooling is excellent and performance is great and it isn't too loud even under load.

I really think Nvidia has the best looking 4090. Too bad it's impossible to get at MSRP for the next year or so lol.

You hit the nail on the head man, AMD had an impact on the sales of the 4080 for sure but not as much as the fact that people who can afford the 4080 and are willing to spend that money on a GPU usually want the very best. There is simply no room for 2 GPU above a thousand unless the performance is very close which is not the case here.

Why is not all the GPU's power delivery done thru the socket? Please hear me out. The socket could be designed with a heavy duty and robust power delivery component capable of delivering ALL the power ANY GPU could need or want. One of the side benefits would be eliminating that unsightly video power cable.

Launching cards for 2700,- (with taxes)... do not act surprised.. On-line shops carry stock forever at these price levels for months.. Some EU shops just now down priced (2400,-) 6900xt's to the new norm (790,-), the distributors are the devil... putting up a 40% margin on everything not adding value (box/pallet pushers)..."scalpers" are NOT the issue this time around. It is Nvidia/AMD and the distributors, making their products UN-affordable for all consumers at all levels.

For those looking at this 5 months later. These cards no longer exist (and likely never did) at the listed prices. I wish an Asus Tuf only cost $1600. It starts at a minimum of $1700 now.

Too much hype from youtubers over the 4000 series. Best to hold off and wait for next gen to release. A 3070ti is more then enough to handle all the current games available.

Vulcan this gen is still as noisy as last gen. What a shame. I liked my Vucan 3080 till Suprim 3080 arrived and made me realise low GPU noise is better than having a screen on a GPU. Oh well.
