Hullo Sara, thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions about these markers. I purchased this set for my wife and we both just love them! Yes, they are “Her” markers and she has been using the heck out of them! I believe Ohuhu has truly stepped up! I am so impressed by how much they are listening to customers and nib replacement and individual purchase of their markers are just two new additions. I will say the set she has all of her markers do match font wise, but I agree with the names not really matching and the occasional cap miss match is not a deal breaker. She is a coloring book coloring fan so lightfastness is no concern of hers.
I recently purchased a set of 48 ohuhu markers myself, having not used any alcohol markers in at least a decade and honestly I’m really glad I got them. I’m having so much fun just experimenting with layering and other mediums.
Thank you for the review! I kept seeing adds for this everywhere. I recently bought a similar set from Artfinity and they work about the same as you described in your review. For the price I'm pretty happy with them. Also, gorgeous art! You're very talented!
For me, my problem with Ohuhu markers compared to Copic is that the Honolulu’s tend to blend more (pass through lining more than intended) which is super annoying whenever I want to color detailed areas. Copics don’t have this problem as much. Copic don’t have a firm nib but it’s worth it more to me to have detailed coloring than deal with constant messy coloring
"Dragonwell tea" is an extremely popular type of green tea in China. ☺️ So if the color E434 is a warm green it makes sense. Though it would be more direct just to name it "Green Tea."
🤦♀️ I should have looked it up- thank you for letting me know! It’s written “Dragon Well Tea” on the swatch cards and not knowing what it meant, I thought of a water well hahaha
@@SaraTepes I totally get how strange it sounds out of context! I hope they go with some of your name suggestions, they looked really well thought out. 😃
I've been following you for about 7 years (you were one of the first art channels i ever watched) and it's been a few years since i've watched one of your videos (i haven't been drawing much) and i just want to say that it's incredible how consistent your artstyle is and the way you stylise people is so gorgeous :)
I was sitting here like man... that looks like Lizzy Bennett, and then you started coloring and I was like oh !!!! it is!!! such a fun little delight. Thanks for the in-depth review!
I love your Darcy… you managed to really capture his features and still draw him in your style… I’m a long time viewer( I learned digital art from your Krita video and bought the kuretake watercolours cause if you lol) and I remember past you saying you didn’t like drawing man and so you just didn’t…. But you have come such a long way this is amazing
Tip!! If you stick a piece of notebook paper in between two graphite drawings and draw on the back of the 2nd one it won't transfer/smudge!!! (I had to learn the hard way lol!)
Love Ohuhu markers! I tried them out a few years ago and I still enjoy them a lot. I can’t wait to have this set one day when I feel like really treating myself lol.
Seeing you draw this makes me want to watch Pride and Prejudice all over again. lovely job. I also have some Ohuhu makers myself and I think they're great for their price. I have a pack of skin-tone sketch Copic markers, which I know is not a fair comparison, but I like the Ohuhu better. I need to start drawing again though, I haven't in so long 😓
Sara? I just wanted to say something about paper. I no we like what we use, and many of us have the Strathmore because it is an inexpensive brand, but they’re 400 & 500 series papers are the best, perhaps the best of a good line of paper. If you want your art to last use 100% cotton paper. Hahnemule or Arches are well known but any 100% cotton paper will do! Canson has always been a budget brand of paper, but they have a heritage line that is really quite wonderful. I encourage you to take a chance on the best quality papers you can find and just see if you can get used to quality! Just an idea for thought.
I thought it wasnt advised to use watercolour paper with markers because the paper "sucks" the ink out of the marker, as that's the nature of the paper. So you will use up your markers way quicker.
@@miraxterrik yep it does suck up the ink! The best working surface is not always the best for longevity. I have used “marker paper” and still had troubles, experiment with different kinds, you decide what you can live with and without!
I remember getting a set of Ohuhu years ago for my niece because I knew she loved coloring with markers, but I had never used them for myself. She must have liked them because they bought more of them! They’re really a great alternative to copics.
I just tried these markers for the very first time and it's really interesting to hear your thoughts. Because I've not tried markers before, I didn't have anything to compare them to so I thought they were great. It's fascinating to hear a different perspective from someone with marker experience 🥰
Ohuhu has refills for 50 colors. Out of over 400 colors. Buying their 320 set is pointless. It will take years for them to sell refills for all their colors. If this ever happens in the first place. Since its been a while and there's still refills for just 50 colors. And total radio silence on more colors to come. Maybe when they have refills for most of their colors, I might consider getting these markers. Right now there is no point in getting these over cheaper brush markers.
Amazing video! Your artsyle is gorgeous and your uploads are always inspiring! I'm really hoping that I can get some discounted ohuhus this prime day (literally tomorrow) because i only have the 48 pack. I have my eyes on the pastel pack 👀
I always like your marker drawings most before you put coloured pencil and gel pen on. Not a criticism At All I know we all have different taste that’s what’s wonderful about art. But for my taste the surface and colours look so juicy and subtle and beautiful before the pencil goes on.
They came out so nice! ❤ Now I’m itching to dust off my marker set and give them a go again 😊 Curious, did you ever try the Sui gouache set? They seem like your vibe
Consistently knocking it out of the park! I’m loving all of the traditional artwork you’ve been doing lately. It’s really fun to see you working in different mediums too. The progression in your work is inspiring 😊
Beautiful artworks!!! Thanks for this review. I recently just tried out their skin color set and the fine liners. The black liners do bleed when I added marker over, I thought they were alcohol proof but they're not. However, the colored fine liners seem to be alcohol proof. That's how I experienced. And you're absolutely right, the BR208 "Black Brown" is sooo not black or brown. 😂 I was shook. Some cap I came across "BR3" which has white color printed text (the cap is in light shade) so it's quite hard to find the color I was looking for. lol I hope they will improve all the things you commented on this video.
Yeah but at least all of the Ciaos are the same flexibility! I'm planning on getting the Ohuhus at the end of the year still but I already know if some of them are super super soft I'm not going to bother to use them
The trauma began at school where I had not the knowledge neither the money for fixative. Butter paper was kinda a luxury art tool; butter paper for cooking didn't arrive to supermarkets till I was on college doing a digital career (animation / 3D). You could find in specialty bakery stores so as a teenager didn't thought it could be used for drawings xD dunno the price then too
Its probably a white gel pen. They can be great for adding white details to already colored things, even if the colors you're going over are super dark. As for the specific brand, idk, but Gellyroll is a decent cheap brand if your just wanting to try it out
