Loved these historical photos, especially the ones of the company surgeons. I have a great interest in Civil War medicine. Our family had kin on both sides of the conflict, Virginia & Missouri. Thanks for sharing with us.

Had one with Stonewall others with the 8th Ga Infantry out of Rome Ga. Then two more with Hilliard’s Legion I think they were from Randolph Co. Al right across the line from La Grange.

Visited the scared land called Stonewall Jackson's Cemetery. As i cried over the Southern tombstones a doe and fawn walk closely by me. A deep stillness overcame my emotions and I praised God for sending a sign to soothe my heart. God bless the Southern souls laid to rest in this sacred land.

Mine, William Bryce Hughey, served in Harrell's Battalion, Arkansas Cavalry, CSA. A cousin-in-law, Benjamin Franklin Mears, traveled from Missouri to Texas and joined a Texas Artillary Company. These are the only two I know of, but there may have been more. The Wilsons, Robertsons and Greens were in Arkansas at the time, some in Missouri. Much appreciation, Bird Dogg.

You have Confederates coming out of the wood work for this BirdDogg. My only rebel ancestors were Keith Boswell (Jackson's engr.) and directly from his brother in the 2nd Va Cav. Most of my ancestors fought with the Union Ky vols. Col. Wittinghill of the 17th KY being the highest ranking. All your videos are pure gold.

I never knew Wheeler was infantry at one point - I always read about his cavalry exploits. I dug a little deeper, and sure enough, from April 1861 until fall of 1862 he was with the 19th Alabama infantry. It was autumn 1862 when he transferred over to cavalry. I never knew that! Interesting

You know that you are eligible for membership in The Sons of Confederate Veterans? Membership can be direct or collateral. You would be eligible collaterally thru your g-g-uncle's service. Google Sons of Confederate Veterans for their national site if you wish to pursue membership. You would be most welcome and would receive a grand certificate to proudly hand on your wall.

Nope none of mine. And they all fought for the rich to get richer. The big plantations promised to take care of the women and children, but they grew cotton and sold it to the north.
